Phil and Dereks
Phil & Derek’s is a laid back atmosphere where our supreme excellence is simplicity. The ambiance is reminiscent of the comfort of your own living room, coupled with a flare of pizzazz and glitz from our nightly New York Style Cabaret entertainment. One can sit back and enjoy the renaissance of this comedic, satirical, and theatrical form of music, as we deliver piping hot, delicious entrees to the table.
I've wanted to go to Phil and Dereks for quite some time. Went there Friday for happy hour with a former co-worker to celebrate her new job. Parking was great since no one was there at 5:30 yet. I'd looked at the happy hour menu during the day and knew exactly what I wanted however, although the online menu shows 7 items, there were only 3 things to order from. Chicken or shrimp with fries, and chicken sandwich things. So we each ordered a chicken and shrimp basket. It was very small for the price and the fries were soft. Weird right? As long as it took them to make it, one would have thought the fries, literally the easiest thing to cook, were edible. My friend and I felt like the restuarant was trying to save money all the way around, if not, it certainly felt like it. 1 review is all this visit deserves. Do better Phil and Dereks.
Our entire experience was amazing! They sat us a little earlier than our reservation time, the staff was very accommodating and the food was amazing!
My experience at this restaurant was beyond disappointing. Service was slow, waitress was rude, food was unseasoned, and the setting of the restaurant was not at all what was advertised. Absolutely horrible experience.
The music was great! The food was good and the ambiance was pleasant as usual!
They no longer offer the buffet during evening hours and they have not updated their menu or website to inform customers. The food service is slow, despite more employees in the place than customers at the time of my visit on a Saturday evening at 6pm. I tried calling 1.5 hours before my RSVP to ensure they had the buffet before I made the special trip there, but of course no one answered. The new general manager and staff were not knowledgable of the exact details of some menu items which made it worse. Manager offered to discount my meal because the buffet was not available, but didn't inform the waiter. I just paid the bill and left without the discount because I won't be back anyway. The receipt paper did not even print correctly, which is not a big deal. However, it just shows how this place is poorly managed. This is what happens when you try to support the community and a minority owned business. They should be ashamed.
We were served food that appeared to have been sitting under a heat lamp for hours.
Very popular spot. Band on October 18, 2019 was good.
Food was ok. Steaks were not delivered as asked but was rectified.
Despite our reservations for a total of 12, the restaurant was understaffed and as a result led to a VERY unfortunate dining experience for my Husband and my Mother on their birthdays. DESPITE friends telling us that the service declined, we still decided to patronize this Houston notable. $600.00+ later.....and 12 disappointed customers later....all we walked away with was, the Shrimp and Grits were tasty.
The waitress had an attitude for some reason. It was our first time there & my boyfriend had a question and she made faces and had an attitude. but the food was great and so was the music.
I heard great things about this place but my first impression was horrible. Went for my niece 15 birthday and they had a event at the facility that was over. It was only one other table it took over 30 minutes before we received drinks. Horrible service. The waiter was playing the role of server bartender and everything else. I will not be going back
Nice atmosphere loved it ,service was great. He took all are orders with know pin and got all right.
Hot In at last min table of 5 had 6 had to sit out side dod not get to see band, but sounded great.
Het tables ahead of time so you can get good seats
That was on me but they made room I would do it again
The service was good it took a minute to get our drinks. The chicken was tough the veggies were delicious! The band was amazing!
Always A Great Time Here!
Went to celebrate my friend’s 50th birthday. Everything was nice. Service, food & the band was awesome.
More Service Staff needed. Other than wait time for food - the experience was AMAZING!
Awesome place, awesome atmosphere, awesome food/drinks, awesome staff, & awesome live music!
Our party of 6 ladies went on a Monday afternoon to celebrate my birthday. The service was superb!! Our server, Kerry, was beyond attentive to our needs and had valuable, knowledgeable feedback regarding questions of menu items. The portion sizes were collosal, guess things are truly bigger in Texas. The restaurant is immaculately clean and welcoming and the jazz/ neo-soul tunes piping in the background made our experience that much more enjoyable. Will definitely return if I am back in the Houston area.
The ambiance was amazing, and I really enjoyed the music. The service could have been better because the waiter seemed overwhelmed and overworked. He kept forgetting to bring our silverware, so we weren’t even able to eat our food right away. Overall, I will be returning because I had a good time.
It was very noisy and small. They have set menu on Sunday but you can tell them what you want and they’ll likely have it. The food was great really good
I had a reservation and I was sat outside as if I did not reserve a table . Then when I asked about sitting inside , I was told that it would 2 hours or 3 hours .
What was point of a reservation? The food took a long time coming out . We were told that a large party backed up the kitchen
Consequently it seemed that large party was priority .
I look the live much but I wish I could have seen the performance.
Absolutely loved my experience at Phil and Derek’s! I enjoyed the food and vibe so much that I came back 3 days later!
The live band was amazing and the food was great as well.
Never will I ever be back to this establishment. I made reservations for a friend birthday, and after 2 hours of dining, after we paid and tip the waiter very well my friends and I were asked to leave. We were at the table we reserved listening to live music and we notice the staff looking at our table often. After the fifth stare down, in a nice nasty type of way we were told we had to leave because someone else reserved the table. This is why I can put my hard earned money into Black Owned Establishments. They were rude and at some point making money by putting people out who had already paid there money for service is rude and very distasteful. I will never return and I will make it known to others not to return to this place.
FYI: The food in the buffet was cold and under cooked.
Amazing place I always enjoy myself. The food is delicious as well.
Amazing, the food service and atmosphere all fun and great
Thank You for making my Birthday Wonderful when I got there me And my party was treated like VIP and for that you get Five Star ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Everything was beautiful....Thanks for making my birthday experience one that I will forever remember.
They did not honor what was on their menu. Several items on the menu were discontinued at the price on the menu. We were told that they were updating the menu and if we wanted the thing (red wine) we would have to pay regular price because it was not going to be on the new happy hour menu. Another drink was on the menu and I was told that they did not know what it was and they did not make that. At least two of us ordered drinks we never got. One of my friends ordered pie alamode and when she asked where the ice cream was she was told that it did not come that way, the waitress did not know what alamode meant and it must be a typo. She later brought her ice cream and tole her it costs extra. The waitress seemed confused about almost everything and rolled her eyes every time we asked us something. She also felt the need to keep reminding us that if they got busy we would have to move since our dining experience was supposed to end at 8:00 which was the same time that the band started playing. We understood it the first time we were told by the hostess, who was the only professionally behaved person, and they never got busy. There were several empty tables around us and other tables that were there before us. We made light of the situation and still had a good time but it was stressful at times. We were just mom's trying to have a night out.
The food was delish!! The staff was efficient and professional!!
GREAT ATMOSPHERE:-) SERVICE WAS AWESOME AND GREAT FOOD.
Really enjoyed our dinner last weekend. Loved the fried chicken. I like that you didn’t upcharge the wine!
It was great
Not the Phil and Derek’s I used to know. When they first opened the new location it was FIRE, great hosting, great music, great menu, great crowd! Now, unfortunately, the place is strictly a business, not the family/friends environment we used to enjoy... I’m certain that is the reason the crowd is lacking these days! Best wishes!... hope things change soon.
Food was good as well as Mimosas. Atmosphere was very energetic! I sat on the lounge side for brunch. The DJ was on point! The price is a little high so definitely not something I would do on a regular basis but it was cool 😎
It was a pleasant experience as usual
It’s always a good time at P & D’s
Keep up the good work. Great food. Great staff. Excellent service
Poor food....bad service....never going back....very dissapointing
