Phans 55 Vietnamese Bistro and Bar specializes in taking traditional Vietnamese cuisine and combining it with a modern flare while keeping the earthy integrity. This restaurant uses only certified natural beef, pork and poultry. The greens used in the dishes come from only the freshest local sources and the fish are wild and caught fresh every day. Phans 55 serves appetizers, salads, pho, sizzling hot plates, fresh seafood, noodles, fried rice, wok and vegetarian dishes to help ensure that anyone can find something on the menu. Some of the popular dishes here include special pho, spring rolls and the calamari. To go along with your meal there is a full bar where you can take your pick of beer, wine or cocktails.
Phans 55 is the perfect place for the whole family, a group of coworkers or friends to get together. Reservations are available for those special date nights or for large groups.
This was my second trip. I enjoyed this so much the first time, that the next time I was in town, I made reservations for a party of 8. Food was just a wonderful the second time!
Never disappoints
The food is beautifully presented and deliously flavorful. Each item has its own distinct flavor, so repeated visits allow one to savor various items...and we do visit repeatedly! Can't wait to return.
The Vietnamese crepe was wonderful; after having it as an app with with a group, I had it as my entree because it was so great. The waiter was fabulos; he offered a tasting of wine before I made a bottle selection, which was very helpful.
Better than Anqi, since the Vietnamese food here has more remnants of the Asian dishes than the fusions.
We eat here frequently and look forward to our dining experience each time!
Excellent food, healthy, beautifully presented!
Phans55 is our go-to when we want to be in a comfortable atmosphere, with awesome staff (most of whom are longtermers), and many choices of fabulous food. The flavors are all distinctive and different from one dish to the next. And the portion sizes are pleasing - not too much, not too little for one and yet appropriate to share. Yummy!
Great food but the service is off the mark too often
Food was very marginal fusion mish mash. Preparation was ameturish. Prices were extremely high for very average noodle dishes. Noise level very high. Service spotty.
No where near the quality of their other restaurant.
This restaurant boasts being nongmo as well as organic - which is great!!! The problem is their portion size is small, yet the cost per plate is more than expected. Perhaps they need to invest in creative ideas to make the dishes look larger than they really are to trick us with perceived food portions. Decent Vietnamese food at a premium, but much more convenient than driving into the heart of Westminster. I would be a regular if they beefed up the portion size for 20-30$ dishes.
Vietnamese restaurant, some very nice dishes (seabass soup and cool noodles with bbq pork were lovely), but some things just OK. It is very noisy (loud people, loud and annoying music), the service was very slow and not very attentive, and it is very hard to find -- inside a complex of condos with an address that doesn't exist on GPS -- had to call to get directions, and even then, it is still hard to find. Price is reasonable. Seating sort of basic, not a place for a special event.
Yum! Highly recommend this place. You will not be disappointed. Great location, food and staff. I'll go again soon!
It is a challenge to find really tasty vegetarian fare in Orange County. I drive by the Phan 55 sign almost every day on Jamboree and have never tried it. (It's tucked away behind the condo towers on Jamboree at Campus so is not visible from either main road.) I read the reviews on Open Table and Yelp and decided to give them a chance. I'm very happy to report that it was a terrific experience. We made a very early reservation at 6:15pm on a Saturday night thinking the restaurant would be empty, but we were wrong! Nearly all the tables were reserved or occupied and the staff was very busy. That didn't stop them from being friendly, attentive and effective. I asked for our server's recommendation for a vegetarian dish and he suggested the eggplant and tofu dish. It was very tasty. The only issue with my order was that I took the brown rice option, but they served me white rice. I didn't complain...it was delicious anyway! We will definitely come back as I feel like we've found a neighborhood secret.
Went with my wife and had a wonderful meal. The service was great with all the service people keeping an eye on the tables. We asked out waiter for recommendations and he provided some great choices while providing us detailed descriptions. The Hanoi Fish was the hit of the night. perfectly cooked and delicious although all our selections were very good. the food quality is high and the preparation clean and competent. Great flavors. Would definitely go back.
This is not a bad restaurant, just not very good. I suggest you drive the few extra miles and go to Little Saigon in Westminster for really good Vietnamese food.
Our server, Pierce, was outstanding as usual! He took great care of us and made a nice wine recommendation.
There were few diners (Monday night), but the noise level was high. The layout is long and narrow with high ceiling and nothing to deaden sound.
That will keep us from eating there again. It's a shame because the food was excellent and served very quickly. This might not bother the young crowd, but it's not good for a quiet meal.
We very much enjoyed our meal. Started with the Ahi tuna spring roll served with a very tasty dipping sauce. For mains the two of us shared the Shaking Filet and the Seafood Claypot, both highly recommended. Happy hour is served from 5-7 only in the bar. Happy hour prices do not apply in the restaurant proper. The owner/manager was very helpful.
Alecia made the meal extra special for our out of town guests. She is a wonderful server and provides excellent service and friendliness! The food was outstanding as usual. Clay pot is always a favorite and the shaken chicken was a big hit! Great work!
I had eaten at this restaurant a few times before. This time, we were a party of 5. First appetizer came in about 10 minutes with one person's dinner order. Three other people's food was served just before our second appetizer dish, after about fifteen minutes. Last person's food came in about ten minutes after that.
We were there to enjoy having a dinner as a group, but ended up watching each other eat. At last, without being asked if we wanted desert (not that they have a great desert menu), we were handed our check with 18% tip automatically added.
The food quality was ok, not great. While everyone working there is very nice and works hard, the overall dining experience was poor and disappointing, basically due to poor service.
This was my last visit to this restaurant, though I hope they improve the way they run the place for their own good.
love this place and it's close to our favorite movie theaters, great for dinner a heated discussion. Also terrific for lunch
Delicious food! A bit over-priced but worth it. Amazing flavors. Traditional Viet food with culinary twists. Fish & clay pots are not to be missed. Owner is very accommodating. Lunch time was very busy & one person was training so service was a bit slow. Be sure to order your food immediately after you arrive for prompt service.
great choice - yet again; the second time to a restaurant is always a bit intimidating, especially when it was delish the first time....well, the food did NOT Disappoint; it was FABULOUS - tasty, varied & fresh! This restaurant provides a great opportunity to try different things and enjoy a casual, comfortable foodie dinner. Just a real gem.
My girlfriends meet here for lunch - all 10 of us - at a few times a year - the food is great, fresh and healthy. The service is wonderful. The restaurant goes out of their way to make it a great experience for us. Prices are reasonable for the quality we are getting. The only thing I don't like is the parking situation, but get there a few minutes early to get your parking space figured out and you will be fine. All of the parking is basically in a garage behind the restaurant that is a short walk to the front door. There are a few spaces out front, but they fill up very quickly at lunch time. Seating is comfortable at the tables and the bathrooms are clean & modern (my pet peeve!).
Great little gem hidden in a young urban neighborhood of Irvine. Surprisingly the food tastes really authentic for being modern, eclectic Vietnamese. Be adventurous when ordering and you won't be disappointed. Of possible let one of the staff help you order. They know the food well.
Best kept secret in Irvine
This was our first time eating at this restaurant. We were very pleased that we found it. The menu, the presentation and the food were all outstanding . Our server made a few recommendations which were excellent choices. Will definitely return and recommend Phans 55 to our friends.
Spring rolls and chicken clay pot were excellent. Shared with my friend and it was just right for lunch! The ingredients are always fresh and they don't mind special requests.
The owner of the restaurant was extraordinarily helpful. One member of our group had a nut allergy, and the owner of the restaurant let us know that her menu was nut-free with the sole exception of the peanut sauce for the chicken satay.
while this is not a fancy restaurant, you receive fancy food; kind of reminds you of a corner neighborhood restaurant from years ago, where a family really wants to share their great food with you (but with a modern flair); everything we had was just delicious and there was the feeling that the staff wanted us to have a great experience - WE DID!!
each item has its own distinct flavor - and the claypot sea bass was something exceptional - but so too were all of the entrees --- and the appetizers were YUMMY (did try their signature San Francisco Cosmo which was just lovely)
and, yes, it is on the first floor of a condo complex .... just like a "city" restaurant, but with really easy parking in the garage right there.
This place is a hidden gem. The food is fresh and so tasty. Let them take care of you for the best meal ever!
consistently fresh and delicious!! time after time i know i can count on the quality and flavor! thank you for making it easy to come back, time after time.
Somewhat hidden in an apartment complex just off Jamboree, Phan's 55 is a pretty restaurant with a flexible and interesting menu of consistently well-prepared dishes. We had a large party (ranging from kids under 10 to adults over 70, with a wide range of dietary preferences/restrictions) and everybody loved this place!
Nice find on internet search. Love being able to see kitchen and fresh ingredients for cooking. Service is excellent and the food very tasty.
Phan's 55 always has the freshest ingredients! Love the chicken clay pot, the calamari appetizer and all of the spring rolls they offer. Will continue to be a repeat customer!
Food is super fresh. Staff is attentive and friendly. Great lunch deals and such wonderful taste with incredible freshness.
Tucked away in an apartment complex shopping center, Phan's 55 might be hard to find for some, but it's worth it! I love taking visitors here and sharing the delicious food offerings.
We have been here several times and never been disappointed with the food- it's so tasty. The flavors are clean and the food fresh. The Tofu and Eggplant was amazing, as was the salmon. We did not leave hungry. With just the right desserts to tempt, a lovely evening was had by all.
(The only thing I would change was the delivery of the food- the main course arrived before we had finished our appetizers, which made us feel a little rushed.)
Must try the Sea Bass in the Clay Pot and Calamari... the Pho is very good...The Service was over the top outstanding!
We celebrated my husband's birthday here, tt's a favorite of ours. Brought our adult children whe enjoyed it thoroughly. They made a big fuss over us and made it a special evening. The food was delicious as usul
It's a pleasure to go to Phans 55 Vietnamese restaurant, either the Irvine or Fullerton locations. A few of my favorite menu items are the Pho Ga, the salmon, and the wonderful clay pot dishes. Phans 55 also carries beers from the Bootlegger's Brewery in Fullerton, allowing me to enjoy a local brew.
