Executive Chef & Proprietor Bret Thompson, with a rich culinary background spanning prestigious establishments in the U.S. and abroad, brings his expertise to Pez Coastal Kitchen. Joined by his wife Lucy Thompson-Ramirez, they have left an indelible mark on the Los Angeles dining scene with their previous ventures, including the beloved Pez Cantina and LA Burrito Co. in Montebello, but at Pez Coastal Kitchen,Chef Bret’s focus shifts to innovative techniques such as curing, smoking, and specialized dry-aging of seafood which will be a distinctive feature.

    Expensive, Crappy. $200 seafood tower with white fish and shrimp replacing octopus and crab claws, just tried to sneak it by us. Lame lame lame Got to Queens Raw Bar and grill, spend less for delicious food. This place will be gone soon, and hopefully someone who can run a restaurant will move in.

    We booked Pez Coastal Kitchen for a birthday, first visit. Waited for hostess to appear for about 5 minutes- she arrived, we were greeted and seated, the table had a nice birthday card on it. The ambience and decor of the space are very nice, especially the lighting and green scale tile wall. Unfortunately, the wait staff was terrible throughout - with the exception of the water boy. The first words out of our waiters mouth when he arrived to the table were “ Are you ready to order?” . No Good Evening, Welcome to Pez. No Hello, my name is…, is this your fist time dining with us? No, I see it’s someone’s birthday, happy birthday! No explanation of the daily specials or Fish of the Day. ( We had to ask) Just no service skills once so over. For a fine dining restaurant - inexcusable. We ordered 3 appetizers, the ceviche - best dish of night) , the black muscles- a mediocre dish did not seem super fresh, and the crab cakes (average). The ceviche was to be out first because it was a cold dish - a suggestion the waiter made - and said he’d bring out the hit appetizers when we were done with the cold ceviche to have the hot appetizers together. We agreed. Well, the ceviche came out first, but a couple minutes later so did the hot dishes so throw food service timing out the window. The hot dishes got cold because we were still on the ceviche. We had to request NOT to put in our entrees for fear of having 5 dishes on the table. Not once did the waiter ask- how’s the food? Can I get you anything? I literally had to call someone out and ask if there was a bus boy in the restaurant to take dishes away. Waiter finally appears “are you ready for your main course?” We replied “Yes” and he was gone for the rest of the night. Food came, Cioppino and Scallops. The Chioppino was “ok” and the scallops were average. The risotto over salted. Next time we saw waiter he cleared dishes and brought check. Wait! We want birthday dessert! Too late.🙁We will not return to Pez.

    The bar screwed up 3 of our drinks. Simple martinis. The waitress said the food was family style but the portions were 6oz. Very expensive for a 6 ounce pork chop.
