Petrus Ratings and Reviews
I was honestly quite disappointed by the experience.
The staff were nowhere near as attentive as what you would expect from a Michelin star restaurant. Our food arrived before our drinks and there was a mistake at the end with the final dish and no apology was offered.
Considering the bill finished at about £300 I'd say it's fair to expect more.
However the food was impeccable - cannot fault anything. All the praise to the kitchen!
Tasting menu had delicious and beautifully presented dishes. They were short- staffed while we were there, which was very strange for a top restaurant where the service is usually seamless. The sommelier told us that a lot of tables had been booked early (which made them busy), and they were also finding it difficult to recruit appropriate staff.
What can you say. A perfect setting with the best food (presentation is a 12out of 10) and great wine list. Did the six course tasting with the wine pairing. Perfect pairing by sommelier. Staff is outstanding. Atmosphere is great. Tables are spaced far enough apart to make you feel that you are all alone. Just wish he still had a restaurant in NYC so I didn’t have to travel across the pond to have the best dining experience their is on this planet.
We were there for girlfriend's birthday. Unfortunately, all of sudden, she couldn't eat much. Restaurant was so worried as would be in the Michelin star restaurant...... but despite this, I loved the lunch every single of bit, it was delicious. I've been to lots of Michelin star restaurant on special occasions, and always offered for little extra dessert but we didn't get any from here, I wonder why ...... guess that she wasn't eating much?
To be honest the experience was disappointing. I expect to be treated like a Rock Star when I attend a Michelin star restaurant. Instead we had to attract attention to get a drink, the wrong cutlery was put down several times and when I told staff at the end they didn't even apologise. Spending £350 for two I expect much much more service wise. Food was nice.
took a little while to be ask what drinks we would like and felt slightly rushed due to being asked to select all 3 courses before we had even tasted starter and main. My nut allergy complicated things a little but what I had was very nice. these are small issues that did not negatively impact the meal. we had been before and had noticed the very high level of service so it may have been a bit too much to ask for a repeat performance. Overall the food was great and the service was very good. We will be back
As you would expect from a Michelin starred establishment, service, food and wine were exemplary, as always. On my several visits here, I have always been most impressed. Superb and friendly staff, excellent food and ambience in a lovely setting - a beautiful restaurant. Highly recommended and actually good value given the standards they set.
Went to Petrus for the first time, and wasn't disappointed by the food which was absolutely fantastic. We had the taster menu with every course being an absolute delight. Service was professional, knowledgeable and helpful but maybe a bit impersonal, with the exception being our Romanian waiter ( sorry, forgot his name) who whilst being exceptionally helpful, was also very friendly, including providing us with a written list of the cheeses we'd had. The restaurant was about 80% full, which gave it a decent amount of atmosphere, but I have a feeling it would feel a bit crowded if full- we would have been looking straight at another couple if the table opposite, about 8 feet away, had been occupied. One slight surprise was whilst we were provided with plates with our coffee, there were no petit fours!! Come on Gordon, if a couple are forking out over £500 for a meal, maybe you could get the staff to pop round to the nearby Waitrose and pick up a box of after dinner mints( I believe Heston does a nice range!)
Petrus has always been one of my favourite restaurants. I took my (grown up) daughter for a treat but was a little disappointed. The staff were first class but the food was good but not amazing. I remember a fabulous array of treats were given at the end, including the most delicious caneles, but nothing this time. I do feel bad because they did try but I feel it has lost some of its sparkle.
We went for my girlfriend's birthday. Wowzah. The rabbit and lobster lasagne is something to behold. I've never experienced such a sophisticated, expertly crafted piece of decadent comfort food. It is one of the yummiest and most memorable dishes I've ever eaten. For me the purpose of restaurants like Petrus is to try food you wouldn't attempt to cook at home or to experience something you've never seen on offer anywhere else. The skill and attention to detail for the rabbit dish is incredible...and crucially it tastes delicious as well. The staff were friendly, helpful and informative which made the whole experience even more enjoyable.
We went for the set lunch menu which was beautifully presented, as to be expected. All the dishes were delicious, especially the accompaniments but the lamb we had for mains was a slight let down, being somewhat tough and chewy, which we really wouldn't expect from Petrus though the flavour was good. Lovely service and would still consider returning though.
This was a disaster. My wife ordered heirloom tomatoes and burrata. The tomatoes arrived with what was described as a frozen sorbet. When we complained that this was not what the menu said and not what we ordered, the staff offered a muttered comment that it was frozen burrata but they would tell the chef that he needed to be more specific on the menu. Our bill was for the full amount and I had to complain that that was inappropriate before they reduced it to reflect one less item consumed. In addition the main course was at best just warm. At the next table to us a couple were using an e-cigarette but none of the staff who observed this offered any comment to the diners. The restaurant has a no smoking policy. Overall the food was poor and the wait staff arrogant. This restaurant does not merit a Michelin star.
The environment and service were excellent. Presentation of food and the taste were fabulous and delicious! Really worth to come all the way from HK and Pétrus is always on the list of one of my "must dine" restaurants! Actually it was my second time to come here and sure will come back more in the future.
Both my boyfriend and I enjoyed the tasting menu. It was full of surprises. I took him there for his 35th bday and it was thoroughly enjoyed. Only thing is that we ordered with wine pairing but they probably could have offered more wine when our glasses were empty during the course which is what we have experienced at other restaurants. But apart from that it was fantastic!
