Our charming restaurant, located along the romantic allure of the Butterslip Lane, serves wonderful Irish food with warm and friendly service.

We serve Brunch and Dinner from Tuesday to Saturday or come and try Petronella's famous Sunday Roast.

Located on the medieval Butterslip Lane, Petronella, just like her namesake, has an illustrious past, located in one of Kilkenny's oldest and historic buildings. The restaurant pays homage to Petronella, the first woman accused of witchcraft in Ireland and the first woman in Europe to be executed by burning at the stake, just a few steps from our door.

Loved Petronella. Its location in the Butterslip building is very cool. The original stone walls and wooden beams along with the rest of the decor create a great ambience. The staff were very friendly and attentive. I had the beef Sunday roast, which was amazing. Will definitely be back next time I'm in Kilkenny.

The setting is great in a repurposed space with exposed beams and stone walls. The food was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. The staff was attentive and engaging. We loved it, though it did get a little loud when a large group sat next to us.

We have a wonderful evening in Petronella on 24.04.2025. THe restuarant wasn't too busy when we arrived but filled up considerably from about 18:30. Menu selection was lovely & the food was amazing, so fresh & hot. Both waitress & waitor were professional & courteous given how busy they were, up & down those stairs. Would highly recommend Petronella & we will definitely be back
