I’m sad that The Bistro closed. The food was excellent and the service was outstanding
My daughter and I have always wanted to try this local restaurant and finally had the opportunity. We were not disappointed. Food and and service were great.
Sad to hear that Petit Robert has now closed. My daughter and I will still visit the “French Press” across the street. Hope that the owner (Jay) decides to open another restaurant in the future.
They could not find our reservation. I had my confirmation number -- good thing. Our table for two was right by the kitchen --servers often knocked into my husband's chair. Our waiter was brusk at first and then became quite rude when I asked for bread. "You don't have to ask for bread -- we bring that. And you don't have to ask for a dessert menu. We'll bring that too when it's time." It was quite a shock! The martini was tiny, the food was good, the evening ruined for me by the waiter's rudeness. We won't go back.
The food is delicious and the service is outstanding. Great cocktails. The menu has something for everyone. The salads are very good.
We were looking for some real french food so we were really disappointed. It is just American food with french names. The server was also a bit pompous.
The food was delicious (escargots, safran mussels, beef bourguignon and lamb) and service outstanding.
We're very sad that Jay is closing the restaurant, but wish him the best of luck!!
So sad that it's closing in two weeks... Food has always been excellent! And I and many friends enjoyed their lunch offerings (but that ended a few months ago).
We love Petit Robert, and have been fans for years. So sorry to see them closing their doors, but I will be right there, at the "Press", and where & whenever else Jay desires to open another full scale restaurant.
You have 'til mid Dec to discover this authentic French gem before they consolidate their energies at the French Press, if you haven't already been. Loads of good memories and meals!
Absolute perfection, an authentic French bistro experience.
All four of us enjoyed the food and the service. Since we all have been to France, the food was a great reminder of the food there. We would all return for any occasion.
Great place to meet friends or have a business meeting. The menu has a wide variety of items that would please any palate. The Bistro offers a special each day. The desserts are divine. Delicious cocktails. The servers are excellent.
The Petit Bistro never disappoints. The food is so delicious! The servers are excellent. There’s always a special offered. The atmosphere is warm and cozy. The staff is so gracious. Great cocktails.
Fantastic service and great menu! Really enjoyed our night. The menu has a nice array of choices. I had the steak frites and frites were amazing while the steak was good./ok. My husband had the duck which was prepared very nicely but the sauce was underwhelming.
the dinner was good but the lighting was way too bright . . .price was expensive all around. .. .I won't be going back any time soon but it was okay
This is my favorite local restaurant. The food is delicious and the staff is very competent.
The Petit Bistro has a great menu. It has something for every palate. The food is excellent ! The service is outstanding. Good drinks. Delicious desserts. We highly recommend it it's worth the drive.
Food and service were very good. We would definitely go back again. Lots of appealing items on the menu.
We took a leap of faith and decided we wanted to eat French - not many places exist that are as authentic. Very impressed and will definitely go again as there are at least 4 dishes we wanted to try. Waitress friendly and attentive - we didn't have time for dessert (unfortunately). A place to linger and enjoy the food - as is true of real French bistros. We love France
My husband an I were celebrating my birthday. I ordered the rack of lamb and the waiter asked how would you like it? I replied pink inside given each chef has a slightly different opinion what is medium rare. He gave me a dirty look with no reply and asked my husband what he wanted. It came out brown ... well done. My mashed potatoes were way over the top with truffle taste. It also came with a side of braised mushrooms that tasted burnt. In fact I wasn't sure what it was. I left very disappointed and felt like we wasted our money. We were one of three tables. Should have known when we walked in. I rated fair to be fair as my husband liked his Cordon Blu dish. Crème Brule had a smooth egg custard with no vanilla flavor. Again just fair.
Service was attentive once we ordered, but very pestering to force us to order. Duck was overdone; ris de veau was not up to par. Wine list was fine and dessert, which one companion ordered, looked good.
Petit Robert Bistro in Needham is a gem of a restaurant - every time we have gone we have had a fantastic meal and service. Jay Spencer is brilliant in the kitchen. It is a must go to place for dinner.
We go to Petit Robert about 3-4 times a year and always enjoy it. Tables for two are very small, but otherwise no real complaints. Food is good and appropriate for a bistro meal. We always leave there feeling that we have been well treated and had good food.
The food was not as good as the South End. Good atmosphere and the staff was good.
Hadn't been in a while. Menu has expanded nicely. Service was OK. Friendly but hard to get their attention and not attentive (distracted). Food wasn't bad but does not warrant the prices charged. IN this price range there are many better places. Also, presentation was not great. Curious.
We have dined there often....and as usual, always excellent food and service
Waiter was surely, special snapper was terrible - end piece and completely brown. Chicken entre very ordinary. Salmon appetizer was small and also quite brown. Very poor experience. This is the second time - we won't go back.
It was great! We love Paris so it definitely brought us back. A bit pricey with a bottle of wine but food was delicious.
Very disappointed! We went to this restaurant once a while but this time is very disappointed about the food. My husband ordered the daily special dish, swordfish, the portion is so tiny and fishy which costed$31 for main dish. While we were eating, we saw the family sat next to us ordered same dishes as us, their fishes portions are over doubles than us. Meanwhile, my dish, french fries tasted was old and over cooked, but the other table theirs looked fresh and you could tell from the color. Anyway, the restaurant is very poor for quality control. If you are unlucky like us, you will feel the same as well.
Excellent menu, attentive personable staff, pleasant intimate setting.
We loved it. Very French and very authentic. This was our first time there and we will definety return with friends.
The service was slow despite few people in the restaurant and as is often the case in summer, way too cold. The food was good though. No complaints there.
We were a party of 4 and all of us enjoyed the food we ordered: Salmon, scallops duck and trout. All were flavorfully prepared. The wait staff were friendly and helpful
Charming, food well-prepared and well-presented. Over-airconditioned on this particular night, but they were quite amenable to turning it down.
This restaurant is notable for the food. It is authentic French cuisine. The quality of both the food and the service is far greater than would be expected in a neighborhood place - more reminiscent of a big city gem. From the appetizers through the main course to the desserts the food is high quality and excellently prepared. Hot foods are really hot and are served as soon as they leave the stove. My escargots needed to cool off before I could risk burning my mouth.
I had dined here before, but my daughter had not and she was impressed. The portions are large, but not excessively so, and our meals were excellent from start to finish. The service is as good as the food. This is not a glamorous place, but the prices are moderate for the quality of the food and service. We will be back.
Food was good (typical French). We were the only customers on a Thursday lunch hour so the wait staff was very eager for us to eat and move on.
We have been there before and have never had a bad experience. From the hostess who seated us, to our server, to the food, everything was top notch. My wife had trout and I had steak frites and all was superb. We look forward to returning.
As always...excellent food and service... (we've been there a couple dozen times)
Petit Robert has become a standby. The food and service are consistently good and it's one of our favorite places to take visiting friends.
This restaurant never fails to be close to perfection in food and service. It is always a terrific experience!
