Four of us were there on a Monday night. The restaurant was not busy but there was only one wait staff who also served as the hostess for us. Service, especially from the kitchen, was very slow. The food was quite good and overall the experience was okay. The issue seemed to be a lack of staff on duty.
A wonderful stop for French cuisine. The escargot were excellent
Good food, service was a bit messy at the beginning but overall great experience. A bit disappointed that as it was Bastille Day and it is a French restaurant that there was no celebration or decoration for the event.
Much to like about your restaurant.. the food, welcoming service and relaxing ambiance. May I recommend candles and music?
My friend and I go to the Bistro once a month together and are never disappointed. The restaurant serves authentic French Bistro food perfectly prepared. We highly recommend it.
We have been here previously. Very consistent high quality food and service.
Pricey however you do get what you pay for.
The only unusual (for me) thing was we wanted to order appetizers and then place the entree order after we finished the apps.
The waiter explained the chef has instructed the staff not to do that. The apps and entrees must be ordered together. Not a big issue, just unusual from my point of view.
Will return for what I am sure will be another excellent dinner.
Waitress was rude and annoyed we were the only people in there.
Petit Robert always comes through. In addition to succulent standard menu items that vary throughout the year there are always a few special dishes and wines to explore. The staff find the happy balance of professional yet warm service, and everyone keeps an eye on all of the tables. That not only improves responsiveness it also instills a feeling of teamwork, which is welcoming.
We had the trout almandine-perfection in brown butter with creamy potatoes and green beans and the monkfish special with mango relish. keep up the good work!
We had an excellent lunch, each ordering an appetizer (salmon tarting, which came with a nice small salad, and the crispy poached eggs) and sharing them. The eggs in particular were unusual and delicious. The manager offered tastes of wines we were considering, and both of us were very pleased with our selections.
The restaurant is a bit pricey, and those with bigger appetites probably wouldn't be happy with just an appetizer, but it was perfect for us.
Excellent service and food. However manager was holding a meeting within hearing distance do dining area. Really didn't need to be hearing about rules for alcohol service while trying to catch up with friends. We should have been seated away from that area or the meeting should have been someplace else.
PRB is awesome. Great for the whole family.
The food was just OK, but two orders leaning toward being overcooked. One order was served with cold potato and vegetables.
Well crafted dishes; decent if a bit overpriced wine list; caring service. A worthy suburban outpost. Having just spent a month in France, I would have to say "french inspired", but not quite the real thing. The technique is there-perhaps it is the different local ingredients. Skip the local tap water-which is highly chlorinated. Worth a few extra bucks for Evian.
The Bistro has something for everyone ! The menu is varied: fush. Seafood. Lamb. Chicken. Vegetarian. Great desserts. Also offers daily specials. The servers are outstanding.
On Father's Day we really enjoyed our meal, from the cocktails to the desserts (see dessert photos below). The waiter was friendly and professional (although my soup order did get mixed up with another table - but the onion soup was also very good!). The couple at the table next to ours was having some sort of argument but you can't blame the restaurant for that. Classic French cuisine very well-prepared. It is somewhat upscale from what I usually think of as a bistro, and the prices reflect that.
Their special tastings with wine pairings are not to be missed! Delicious food with well-matched wines.
Food was pretty good but not outstanding; portions small and overpriced. Service was "chilly", snippy, if you will, and not logical.
If you're in Needham well, okay. Not worth a half hour drive from elsewhere.
Our meals were excellent. Each of us had a different entree and all of them were perfectly cooked. This is a wonderful small French restaurant with superb service and food. I highly recommend it to everyone.
Exceptionally fine meal. We all loved our entrees: scallops (St. Jacques), lamb, and red snapper. Sauces and vegetables all excellent. The waiter was a somewhat rushed at first, but then slowed down to a more reasonable pace. Not cheap: $200 for 3 -- entrees, a soup, a salad, 4 glasses of wine, 1 dessert.
Excellent authentic French food. Great service. Would recommend for small groups for work or fun.
