After a terrible experience at their Needham location we were hoping for a better dining experience in Boston. Unfortunately that was not the case. Deafening noise in the restaurant limits your own conversation, terrible service accompanied by no French baguette, bland escargots, “ok” swordfish and totally dry, dense not fresh tasting bouef Bourguignonne really left us with a “bad taste”. Nothing French here. Sorry.

Excellent French food at an affordable price. The rack of lamb was extremely tender and tasty and a huge portion!

Overall we were disappointed with our Evening. The food was marginal Or our expectation might have been set too high. This was our first visit. The Escargo did not have enough seasoning and should have been served in its shell. The portions were small and it was the first time we left with room to spare.[ We are Not Large sized people ] Our waiter was OK.but we felt a little rushed. The spacing on seating was tight. I must admit that we had been in France two weeks ago and this might have Prejudiced our review. However we eat out a lot and host Gourmet meals for friends and Family.

Food was a disappointment. The lamb rack was so thin it could only be cooked well done. The vegetable melange just a wet jumble of vegetables. Unattractive plate of food.
Will not be back.

Fantastic French bistro in the hood that over 10 years has never disappointed. Great value and a piece of Paris in Boston. Great service with local patina. We recommend this to all or friends. Ee live just 200 yards from the restaurant.

We have been to the Columbus Avenue location many times. It never fails. The food is excellent, as is the service and the ambiance.
We used to also enjoy the location I Kenmore Square. We miss that location.

We often choose Petit Robert Bistro before Symphony Hall events. This restaurant has French cuisine that is consistently delicious, an excellent and reasonable wine list, subtle but rich desserts and friendly and thoughtful serving staff who do treat you like family. We recommend it to all of our friends.

One of the best restaurants we have found near enough to Symphony Hall for an easy walk to/from a performance. The coq au vin was superb in a rich dark sauce, cooked to perfection. The wine selections were very nice and service hospitable and prompt.

Lovely ambiance. Unfortunately the experience was marred by the main course arriving at the table cold, with a thick skin on the Béarnaise sauce. I think this place has potential. Everyone in the establishment went out of their way to be charming and pleasant.

Great brunch. Service was excellent. Eggs Benedict was good (but eggs were a bit cold). French fries were amazing. Our waiter was attentive and charming. Would go back and try dinner next time.

First time here for brunch. Restaurant was empty on the day of the regatta. We caught them at opening so it is not fair to pick on the fact that service was scant. My suggestion is that you show up at noon for brunch. Maybe the service and food staff get into gear at that point. Will go back and give another chance before writing a more informed review.

We dined last Sunday night when it was warm enough to have our meal at the outside seating area which added immensely to the enjoyment of our meal. The food was very fresh and well prepared. Authentically French - but because there are very few French restaurants in the Boston area - a wonderful example of being able to enjoy new presentations of seafood and chicken.

The service was attentive but we weren't rushed. The restaurant is located behind the Prudential Center on a main road but one which is far less busy (at least on Sunday night) than Boylston Street and Huntington Ave so we could have a conversation without being drowned out by traffic noises. Located in a South End neighborhood, it was a small slice of dining in a typical French cafe located here in Boston.

It was our first visit but we definitely will be back.

Not a fan. I was excited to try this restaurant, but after having made a reservation, we waited at least 20 minutes to be seated. Others came after us without reservations and were seated at bar bistro tables or outside. When I asked about this, the host told us that we never asked for those options...we had reservations!! Maybe he should have offered! The noise level was obnoxious, and so loud that I couldn’t hear my husband speaking to menacross the table in the far too crowded dining room. The food was just OK...nothing to rave about. I doubt I’ll be returning.

great atmosphere -- very French" and intimate, with tables close together, in a crowded, very typical dining room. The menu is also a typical bistro, even down to the possibility of calves liver and bacon (which I had and enjoyed). We had a delightful pre-theater dinner here.

We went to Petit Robert following a concert at Symphony Hall. It was a perfect place for a nice dinner and conversation with friends. The food is excellent and the service was professional and friendly. I definitely recommend it and look forward to going again.

The 3 pates maison were excellent, as was the swordfish. The lamb chops we're perfectly cooked; the ratatouille was sweet and velvety. My only minor complaint was that the mushroom sauce, though tasty, didn't work well with the ratatouille.

We live around the corner from the restaurant. Sometimes its packed. Sometimes it's empty. The space itself is just like a real French bistro which makes it charming and authentic. The food however, was a lack luster for the price. My scallops were under cooked upon delivery to the table. And all of the food lacked seasoning - requiring salt and pepper used at the table. I likely wont be back anytime soon - but the menu has good options.

Great restaurant. Asked for a dish that was previously on the menu, and it was prepared with no problem. Excellent service, superb food, nice room ( we prefer the front bar area), and ALWAYS a treat. A restaurant very much in the French tradition. Highly recommended.
