This was a find--classic French, a wine-bar menu as expected (including some half bottles), and some delicious food. Try the hummus appetizer--huge (for sharing) and yummy. Entrees of chicken and bouillabaisse were distinctively excellent. Divine chocolate mousse. We'll be back.

We chose this partly because of its convenient location (close to Macy's on an icy cold day) - it's also close to the Empire State building. It had a nice 'French bistro' feel, and the food was good. We chose roasted chicken and coq au vin - excellent with a lovely glass of French wine! We indulged and ordered desserts as well - yum!

We were there for a post Christmas family get together. It was perfect for the occasion. We were comfortable. The server was excellent and even offered to take a group picture of the family. The food was an added bonus to wonderful staff and ambiance. The food was delicious.

Took my fiance here for our first date night in New York city for Christmas. We chose the set holiday menu. My fiance is Asian and the host tried to sit us with a group of Asian people before he asked if we had a reservation. Which we kind of laughed about but was still odd. Once we sat we realized the host hadn't given us menus and we couldn't snag him obviously because it was a busy night. Our lobster bisque and scallops were great. Really enjoyed them. I chose the Mahi Mahi which had some great flavors. My fiance ordered the duck leg and the duck confit but instead received the duck breast. We didn't feel like complaining about it because we would have waited forever. Overall the experience was good. Not sure if we'll return.

We went to Petit Poulet on Xmas Eve; we took the special Xmas menu at 75$ comprising a nice glass of Champagne, a succulent scallop risotto, a good duck magret and confit with exquisite sides and a nice dark chocolate mousse, with a bottle of red wine (Languedoc at 48$). We really liked the food and the wine because they felt like home and we were missing home (we're from the south west of France). But, in France, it's just regular everyday food, so maybe the menu was not chrismassy enough, especially the dessert (a bûche would have been great). We paid 200$ for the whole thing; it was nice but we would not have paid this on another occasion.
The place was nice and the service was excellent!

My boyfriend and I were excited to try out what seemed like a great new French restaurant near Herald Square. The menu looked fantastic. I made a reservation at 6:45 since we had tickets to see a show at Madison Square Garden at 8. When we arrived, we had to wait 15 minutes before a table was available for us. When we were finally seated, our order was taken very quickly. I ordered french onion soup for an appetizer and coq au vin for dinner. My boyfriend ordered beef bourguignon. It took us 20 minutes to get bread, and another 25 minutes to get my soup. They forgot that I ordered soup, so we had to remind them. Our dinners came shortly after. I was not a fan of the soup. It tasted very different from how french onion soup usually tastes. Our dishes were nothing special either. I really appreciate that they gave us a 20% discount for how long we were forced to wait for our food, but the experience was so bad that we will not come here again.

Another delicious meal at Petit Poulet. The chicken in puff pastry and the roasted Cornish game hen were absolutely delicious, and our waiter, Byron, was charming and attentive. This place is comfortable and warm, and the food--French bistro fare--is excellent.

It is not an authentic French resturant but mainly American dining with a vague French flair. Food was acceptable and fair value. Service was average , no complaints when it appeared. Major complaint is that the resturant was extremely smoky from the kitchen’s cooking to the extent it followed me home as my clothes smelt of Kitchen fat and my eyes had begun to sting. They really need to work on their extractor fans

Excellent, delicious lunch! I chose the two-course business lunch: butternut squash soup to start, and the moules frites - the broth for the mussels was delicious and the french fries cooked just right! My friend had the hummus appetizer which consisted of a huge portion of hummus (could be shared amongst up to 4 pp!) with sauteed mushrooms on top, with side of pita bread points and mini pickles, and kalamata olives - really a meal in and of itself! His chosen entree was he steak frites - again, a generous piece of beef, french fries, and a great mixed garden salad all on the same plate - ! We thoroughly enjoyed all our food choices, and definitely will return!

The service is one of the best parts of Petit Poulet. We met for brunch ( 8 women). Was lovely. Typical brunch food. Would do it again. The eggs were cold but the coffee was hot. Didn't try the fancy pastries. Is very convenient to Penn Station also.

Great staff that makes you feel welcome and good table service. Didn't love the onion soup which was too sweet and thick for me, but maybe traditional French. Escargots looked like it was prepped in advance and not much flavor. Good news was I wasn't tempted to dip the bread.

This was our first time dining here and we were not disappointed. We were seated immediately for our 5:30 reservation and given a window seat. The restaurant already had a few guests, but by the time we left around 7:00, it was busy and had gotten louder. Our waiter was very good except he forgot to tell us what the evenings specials were. They have a nice wine and beer selection which should please most people. To start, my wife and I shared a very good, large Cesar salad. My wife then had the duck breast accompanied by hericot verts (not the broccoli rabe on the menu, her request) and roasted potatoes and a pinot noir. I had the beef bourgoignon and a pinot noir. Both of our meals were delicious. This is not a TGI Fridays or a Ruby Tuesday, so it takes a while for the chef to properly prepare your meal. It's not an inordinate amount of time, but if want very good food, then you have to wait for it. We would most definitely dine here again when in NYC and highly recommend it.

It's not so easy to find a pleasing place to eat near Penn Station -- I'm so happy to discover Petite Poulet, thanks to browsing on OpenTable. The restaurant is a quick walk from Penn Station, a pretty and quiet place. My friend and I shared the delicious house salad and Cornish hen (the restaurant's signature dish), plus profiteroles for dessert. Our terrific waiter, Byron, graciously had the kitchen split each dish (always a very appreciated touch). He also gave us a good wine recommendation. We left the restaurant feeling that we'd found a new "go-to" restaurant.

The food was good but not outstanding. The waiter was pushy and rude. We waited a long time to order a drink. The waiter tried to tell us what we wanted for appetizers instead of letting us order what we wanted. When he cleared the appetizer plates, he tossed one diner's knife and fork on the table to be reused, but cleared the others.

The tables were close together and he stood between our table and the one behind talking to the people at that table which meant I could not move without bumping into him. (There was plenty of room to the sides of the table. No need for him to intrude in my space.)

He even came at one point and said he was new and wanted to know how he was doing so far. We did not bother to respond.

We waited so long to ask for the check, we finally asked the maitre d for it and then had to ask him to take the bill for us because the waiter did not come back.

Very odd, unsatisfactory service. So odd, in fact, we did not even bother to mention it to the maitre d (although he must have noticed).

Good for the non-French. Expected a more French experience and a better wine list. Should be more generous with bread and take time to cook the meat. Also, disappointed they did not use the correct pastry on the dessert.
