The wine list was very good and the waiter had some great suggestions. But unfortunately that’s as good as it got. The food was dry and bland (I had a beef bourguignon which came with no sauce whatsoever!) and overpriced.
Overall we had 2 bottles of wine, shared starters and had 3 mains between 3 of us which came to almost $400 - steep for disappointing food paired with decent wine on a Monday.
Lovely first impression. Good wine list. Disappointed with choice of cheeses on platter. Beautifully plated, but two choices not available. Same with dessert menu. Choice not available. No offer of coffee refill.
This isn't the place to go for a high culinary experience, no fancy presentation, or exotic flavorings. BUT, the food is very good. All three dishes we ordered were solid. The beef bourguignon was like grandma used to make (actually I think grandma did make it) slow cooked and not salty. Definitely order the couscous royale, it comes topped with... well you'll see... fun and super flavorful/delicious. Service was a little weird, with the bartender jumping out from behind the bar to take our food order, and then someone else served us the food, but we had adequate attention and servers were friendly. It was pretty busy when we went for an early afternoon rainy saturday supper. Strikes me as a nice mom-and-pop run eatery.
Great find pre show find! Food was devious and service was great!
Nice place, good food. Will come again.
Ok meal in pedestrian environment.
I was staying at the hotel connected to Petit Poulet so had a solo meal one evening. Ambiance is nice and has authentic French bistro vibe. I had French onion soup, which was good, not great. Their green salad was quite nice with thick cured bacon croutons. The bread was nothing special. My waiter was aloof, ironically adding to the French authenticity. I would not seek this place out, but would happily go again if staying at the hotel or nearby.
3 of us went for lunch for a birthday celebration. Food was delicious (pate de campagne!), no noise, nice service. Prices ok. I’d go back.
This place is a wonderful to eat. I will return soon. I enjoyed everything, the free dessert creme brulee was out of this world. The staff is very friendly, they smile a lot and makes us feel at home. Good job messieurs!
Charming, comfortable spot, convenient to theaters. Feels like a real mid-priced Paris bistro. Lots of seating. Efficient, pleasant service. Reasonable prices. Not a destination for fine dining, but good value for pre- or post-theater, lunch, or a moderately priced evening.
All around wonderful. Great value and quality.
We enjoyed a very good French meal only 4 blocks from Madison Square Garden/ Penn Station.
Lovely meal, nice atmosphere, excellent service.
Carlos our waiter was awesome...good food and wine. Brunch menu was ama
A bit pricey. Value for money is not there.
We had a party of 7 for brunch to celebrate a birthday. The service was outstanding (thank you Carlos!) and the food was equally as good. Loved the escargot and the French Toast was amazing! Very nice décor and the atmosphere was perfect for all of us to be able to converse. A great spot!
Brunch: French onion soup and duck confit salad were both delicious.
Not too busy on Saturday, great spot!
Food was delicious and service is average. It’s not over pricy for what you get. Overall, we had great experience there.
Service was inconsistent, especially once the restaurant began to fill up. Food was delicious just hard to get the attention of anyone until we asked for the check. Once we had the check, it seemed the waiter remembered to fill water, clear plates and ask how our meal was.
Petit Poulet was an amazing surprise, it was really better than expected! I really recommand this adress for French people that missed French food in NYC ( like me... ) or for other people who want to try French food! The prices are affordable and the service is perfect! An amazing welcome even if we were very late because of the traffic and a very nice French Chef!! Thank you again Petit Poulet!
It was good
I loved our table, a nice round table for 3 instead of trying to cram us around a table for two.
It was a great meal, wonderful service, fabulous bathrooms and friendly staff.
Very pleasant place
Food is very good
Waiters speak French
I came early so was able to taste a wine they we’re taking about. Special duck dish was de-lish.
I definitely recommend getting the charcuterie to start off with, so you have something to munch on as you wait for your entrees. Kitchen is open as others have said so you can see everything prepared. Great for after-work drinks and dinner.
There was an issue with the service and the arrival of our food
The food was excellent when it did arrive
And the management more than made up for the delay
I would try it again
A gem in the touristy and busy area around Penn Station. The steak is excellent, the service great and fast (if you are in a rush) and the ambience super nice.
The service was wonderful, the wait staff was great
Have dined here a few times and had a better than average experience. Tonight our appys and wine were delicious. Our wait team professional and very helpful. There was a problem with our main course, but management was quick to step in and offered several alternatives. He handled the situation promptly to our satisfaction.
Great food and service. Portions were good and taste was excellent
Worst NYC restaurant experience we have had and we go regularly to try new places. This was just plain awful. We were seated basically underneath the heat lamps and left there to cook for OVER AN HOUR while they cooked everyone else dishes but ours, including giving away the last vegan dish that we had ordered to someone who ordered after us.
We had to request a server be sent over after being ignored, and then got routinely ignored anyway. When they finally did bring food, the duck was raw and they added shrimp to the vegetarian dish they had made to make up for the missing vegan dish, so we watched them have to dump it and start over. Management knew we were unpleased and proceeded to ignore us.
When they were asked to make the duck “a little more medium,” it went from raw to very well done and could barely be cut or chewed. They also have no idea what to do with vegetables other than throw tons of garlic on it.
Once the food was done, we were still dying under the heat lamps and still needing to beg a waiter to give us the check and stop holding us hostage in this horrid place.
First time and a great dining experience. Excellent food and wine selection.
food was really good, a bit butter heavy(which is...bad?). our original server basically took our order and never came back. the younger server ran our food, got us more water, etc. i hope he got the gratuity!
We went with my wife for Valentine's day dinner, it was early so the restaurant was almost empty they gave us a nice table by the window, food and drink were great! Our server was good but I felt like he was trying to rush us a little bit. Good place, good food.
Great place! Staff, food, place all great. Had a leisurly lunch with friends. We all loved it.
We had a wonderful experience. The food was delicious. Would recommend
Came with my aunt and mother for a special day out in the city. We all enjoyed ourselves to the fullest !
They couldn't find our reservation when we arrived. When we got seated, it took a long time to order. Other people were being seated and food arrived, but our orders were 'lost' or 'taken by other tables'. The restaurant wasn't full and our server didn't have many tables so there wasn't any reason that he couldn't be on top of things. We watched our food go to other tables who were seated at least 30 min after us. We ordered the daily special. The appetizer didn't come until we reminded the server. When the entree came, my salmon was overdone (dried out on the outside). I was very disappointed.
Staff was very friendly. Showed genuine concern for our dining experience. Excellent value for the price.
