if you are trying to rebrand you need to improve the service.
the waitstaff was great but it took 45 minutes from when we ordered to get our food. and the place was not crowded.
I think Lowell needs to be there a lot more. Or get new management.

A mixed experience. We were a party of 6 who were quite late for a reservation at lunchtime. We called to let them know we'd be late; they didn't even thank me for the call. All of our servers were quite sullen. Food quality was mixed; there were some great items and some mediocre items. The floorless chocolate cake was terrific.
I've been to Peter Lowell's for lunch several times before but I guess never on a Sat. It's always been one of my favorites so I was looking forward to lunch. I was very disappointed. They were only serving from their "brunch" menu so only breakfast food available. It's fine if a restaurant wants to offer brunch on the weekends, but please provide your regular lunch menu as an option as well. It's ironic that I cancelled my reservation for Pullman's Kitchen when I read they only served brunch and no lunch (someone complaining on open table). Then I find out that Peter Lowell's had the same issue. And the food was very average - just your basic bacon and potatoes - nothing special - and the minestrone soup was bland and tasteless (ok, the flourless chocolate cake did make the meal). Again, please provide your excellent lunch menu as an option on weekends as well! Thank you.

The halibut is superb and we hope that Peter Lowell's will always have this! Salads are fresh and tasty! Great caliber of food at a good price. Always a friendly staff.

The hostess attempted to seat me on the unattractive patio when it was 100+ degrees outside, and five degrees hotter on the patio. When I objected, the person at the front desk explained that the situation was my fault as I had failed to specify indoors when I made my reservation. This issue was suddenly resolved after I expressed my very deep disappointment and suggested to my party that we should leave. When food came, my marrow bones were presented to me raw and cold. I sent them back, and they returned slightly less raw. Raw may be fashionable in other dishes, but it is not what makes marrow bones delicious. Between the attitude of the owner and the person at the door, and the iffy food, my previous enthusiasm for this restaurant has cooled. I'll return, eventually, but there are more reliable choices in Sebastopol.
Hand-made food using local ingredients. A small wine list of well-chosen wines, most of them local, many organic. Most dishes range from good to very good. Nice soups, excellent list of starters, and generally a couple of mains. Casual. Menu changes regularly.
Always a treat! We drive from East Bay to have dinner at Peter Lowell's because it is so authentic and excellent, without being stuffy. Lowell is always so hospitable and the staff is warm and attentive. We choose to come here for special occasions because we haven't found anything in the East Bay that comes close to the standards at Peter Lowell's!
Food and atmosphere were excellent! So good and very unique .
The menu was organic, local and fresh. The wines suggested by the server did not dissapoint.

we went there on a Sunday evening and I'm glad I booked it as the place was quite busy and finding a table could have been challenging.
Food is excellent and the menu is offering good options, and somehow with innovative recipes.
Casual style. I did not like too much the "patio" side where we've been seated but the place is small so that many options.
This place has a serious attitude problem. This was my second visit and confirmed my first impression: they treat you as if you're fortunate to dine with them. Unfriendly, condescending service people. If you like to be treated as a valued guest--go elsewhere and spend your hard earned dough.
For lunch, we ordered two salads and 2 sandwiches. We waited nearly 45 minutes for our food. The place was not crowded. Server was not attentive. No explanation or apology from the server for the lengthy wait. We sat in the atrium. Pleasant enough except when the restaurant took a delivery. The carrier had no other option but had to repeatedly roll his noisy trolley through the atrium dining room. Food was fine. But not good enough to justify all these other problems.
My son and I went to Peter Lowell's for a Fathers Day dinner together. I was a bit surprised that I had made a reservation in advance, but the seats they assigned us were at the bar. Being in the hospitality business, I understand that empty tables now, actually implies a good room management system so I understand. Given the day you would have thought that staff would have put two and two together, but enough of that. Despite my initial disappointment the server and the food were deserving of praise. I had heard good things about this restaurant and now I have first hand experience that agrees - Peter Lowell is a great place. I will return.
We had brunch to celebrate my son's high school graduation. It was delicious as always! If it's still available I recommend the brioche cherry French toast. Not overly sweet. Everything is local and organic. Very friendly waitstaff, nice outdoor seating. Very mellow and relaxing. Good wine too!
Peter Lowell's never fails to please me. I love their healthy, seasonal, and local choices. The choices are good for vegetarians (me) but also please the fish and meat eaters I know. I did have to ask three times to have a loud music source over our table to be turned down (each time it was turned down, someone else turned it back up). I am not a fan of energetic music while I am dining and conversing with friends, especially at a lively place like Peter Lowell's. If you sit outdoors on the patio this is not a problem. Quieter, and I will request that in the future. The salads and main courses are very pleasing and tasteful in every sense of the word. Our server was great and we even chatted with folks at the other end of our table about music, guitars, and the local scene. Fun.
I'm sorry that I have to give a thumbs-down. The food is overpriced for what you get, and the service was borderline neglectful. We were not offered the option to sit in the main room, and it got colder the longer we sat outside. Yes, we might have spoken up, and that is my fault. The wait-staff seemed under-staffed for a surprisingly busy Monday. I ordered the pizza with escarole, and it seemed like limp lettuce rather than the sturdier escarole I usually enjoy. Also, there is no easy place to wait for your table inside. This Monday evening, the end of the bar was occupied by a gent and lady who were "spooning" in the farthest two chairs, all touchy-feely. I didn't want to go over and get closer to them. I don't know, it just didn't work for me. Two pizzas, one salad (boring) and 2.5 glasses of wine came to about $98.00. Absurd!
So this is a tough one to review, the food was awesome no complaints there.
However service, ambiance and general lack of planning on the staff part made this a 3 star. Even though I made the reservations 3 weeks in advance we were seated at a community table and told all the other tables were reserved. We ended up having to share our table with another family who just walked in, they also automatically add 20% tip on to your bill had I known this I would have never made the reservation, there is no situation where that is appropriate for a group of 4 people. Looking around the restaurant I would say the average age of the patrons was around 50 however they chose to play obscure hip hop songs and cranked the bass up. Since we were seated under the speaker we asked them to turn it down, that took a good 25 mins to happen and then 10 mins later it was cranked back up. Obviously the music was for the employees and not the people dining.
As for the food the Cauliflower Soup was great, I had a sausage pizza that had a very thin cracker crust and tasted great.
Menu options are fairly limited which is why I ended up ordering the pizza.
Dessert was the Strawberry Pie Ice Cream and it was a winner.
Unfortunately the ambiance and poor planning on the staff side are too much for me. I will not be returning.
So we had a reservation however, the host gave our table away to a party ahead of us and then put us at a community table sitting with others, not ideal for a date night. Overall the artichoke asparagus salad was delicious, just not very much of it. The food was fresh and all very good, however, when they automatically tag on 20% tip, doesn't seam like the wait staff has much incentive to work too hard.
We were underwhelmed. Some of the food was very good, but some it was just so-so. Not bad, just not worth the cost. For our party of 4, the bill was $240, and we brought our own wine (corkage was fair.) We only ordered 2 starters, 4 entrees and 3 desserts. My entree (cod) and my husband's entree (lamb) were not noteworthy. The Ravioli and the vegetable greens were great. The Cesar Salad was odd - didn't taste like a Cesar Salad, and why mess with a classic? My son liked his pizza. Dessert was very good. Our waiter was great, although it took a bit too long for service after we sat down and for food to come. We will probably give it a second chance.
My second time here and again the experience was amazing! Our server was very friendly and attentive, the food was a perfect 10, and the ambiance was really special (we sat outside). I had the rock fish which was tasty - great sauce and cooked to perfection. I'm gluten-free, and it came with pasta, so the chef substituted fingerling potatoes which were delicious with the dish (It also came with asparagus). The flourless chocolate cake was delicious, as was the herbal ice tea and coffee. Delightful!
Very inventive with successful delicious and surprising combinations of flavors. Sunchoke soup with an unidentifiable front flavor, house made pasta with perfect texture, Sticky toffee pudding paled in comparison to the rest of the meal (dry and firm cake with ice cream on top), but then the meal was outstanding!
Terrible service. had made valentines reservation for patio and got there and was told had to sit at the bar. Many different servers and it seemed very unorganized. We had to wait about 10 minutes to be seated. Food is ok. Would not recommend due to poor customer service.
