We thought the food was good, but our frustration was with their oddly scooped shaped dinner plates. A knife couldn’t rest on the edge without sliding into the food. Not a good design or useful and super annoying.
The restaurant is pretty much Tommy Nevis bar with table cloths.
First time at Pete Miller’s, I must admit the food was really good, their seafood is awesome!!! You can truly say it was fresh, totally worth it. Sadly our visit did not go without a flaw, for starters, we made a reservation, when we got there we were told that we were going to need to wait, however there were several empty tables, after about 20-25 minutes and nobody coming in we were taken to our table that had been empty since we walked in, needless to say there were no less than 10 tables empty. Next, here comes the waitress, very rude lady, seemed to be having a rough day, she kept on dissapering and took an average of 20 minutes each time we ordered drinks. Great dinning experience aside of the service.
Food was excellent. Service was ok. Server didn’t really know anything about the wine list. Would have been nice for the manager to stop by the table to see how everything was. The prices were a bit high for the level of service.
The entire dining experience was exceptional. Fabulous food and superior service team.
Had dinner here a few nights ago. I ordered the delmonico ribeye medium rare. At $46, I was expecting a melt in your mouth taste experience. That was not what I got. I received a medium to medium well, drier than expected piece of meat. It had nice seasoning, but the texture was dry. I’ve had steaks in all price ranges and this steak was not of the same caliber as some of the cheaper steaks I have had. The sides were tasty and the service was friendly, but the main event was lackluster and I won’t be back again. Not to mention the Alaskan crab cocktail for $25 consisted of the equivalent of ONE crab leg. I don’t mind paying a good price for good food; I feel you get what you pay for, but the price was not equivalent to the quality/quantity that is expected of something that is priced this way. This was very disappointing
Friday night only 1 bartender in a packed bar. She did her best but really could have used help.
Dinner service was excellent but very disappointed by the steak. For a 45 day dry aged bone in Kansas City, it should have been excellent and it wasn’t.
Great wine list.
Oysters were great.
Dessert was great.
Overall, way overpriced for the quality.
If I return, it would be drinks apps and dessert. But that’s a big “if”.
The food was amazing and our server was great. We will definitely be going back
Decided to celebrate my husband's birthday here. We were warmly greeted and welcomed like old friends. We both appreciated the decor and enjoyable music as we made our selections of lobster bisque, lamb chops with a lobster tail side, roasted mushrooms and mashed potatoes for the birthday boy. I had glazed shrimp with mushroom risotto. All of the food was fabulous, including desserts of cheesecake and strawberry gelato (HUGE serving). Although service wasn't super-speedy, we felt relaxed, never rushed or in need of attention. Very happy to have found our way into Pete Miller's and plan to return soon.
I was really excited to eat here. I have high expectations but was completely underwhelmed. We had a drink at the bar before our reservation. I got a drink right away but my husband had to wait a while. Once we were sat at our table we noticed a television in our dining room. I am not against TVs in restaurants but not in a fine dining establishment.
We didn’t get any bread, which I thought was odd and when I asked for a black napkin they said they didn’t have any. Service was slow, but the food was great! It still felt like Tommy Nevins to me. I think there is a lot the restaurant needs to do in order to be considered fine dining. We most likely will not go back.
I planned a special dinner as a surprise for my husband with friends. Everything from the reservation , champagne toast, appetizers, and dinner was perfect. The food was amazing, our waitress Carol was super friendly and right on top of things from beginning to end. We highly recommend Pete Miller’s. Its great to have a nice restaurant close by. For special occasions or just a drink or snack in the bar, its a great place to go!
Service wasn’t as great the second time we went, but the food was outstanding! It is a bit pricey, but comparable to Other large steak houses.
We were celebrating my husband’s birthday. This was our first time dining at this restaurant. We had a wonderful dining experience. The steaks were cooked to perfection and awesome. I don’t recall our servers name but she gave us exceptional service and conversation. I would definitely recommend Pete Miller’s to all my family and friends who are looking for a awesome dining experience.
We enjoyed the evening. The food was good but not spectacular based on the dished we ordered. The rib recipe could use some work. The service was good except it seemed like the server 'hovered'/was at the able a little too often. Would go back. Would try something else on the menu.
As always, the food and service was just spectacular.
Overall very good - Carole was an excellent waitress!
Love everything about this restaurant. Love Maria our special server!
Awesome, waitress was amazing, service was good, food is good.
Loved the food, our server was great. The jazz band was excellent. We were in the room directly next to the bar. Band was a little to loud to talk to the people with us. Next time I’ll ask for the other room. Don’t know if you can make a seating request on open table. We would go back.
My husband and I were just her for our anniversary April 5th, We had a FANTASTIC TIME!! The ambiance was amazing food was good. And the entertainment was spectacular. Staff was so awesome and friendly, like a big family.
Very nice brunch and the food was delicous, however, we did not care much for being seated in the library room. It was a little too confined and we felt excluded from everyone else in the main dining area (almost like it was an afterthought seating area). It was a little too quiet all the way back there and we had to listen to the gentleman at the table next to us talk about everything (mostly about his infected tooth that he would not go get looked at! Not very pleasant to listen to while trying to eat!) We sat on outdoor seating that I believe was from the outdoor patio and then placed indoors. My husband enjoys jazz music and we didn't really get to enjoy the live music from our seats. I would have given an overall rating of "OUTSTANDING" but did not feel I had an overall outstanding experience. For the price we paid, I would have expected a little nicer experience.
We went to Pete Millers for the first time for Easter brunch. The food was fresh and amazing and there was great service. It was nice because while they were busy it wasn't overcrowded. The live music and jut the music in general when live wasn't playing was great. Awesome service too! We will definitely be going back.
I usually love this place and have even become a rewards member. Made reservations for Easter brunch and when we arrived the hostess took us into the library, I asked her if it was possible to seat us in the front room since I was wearing high heels and the hardwood floor was slippery, she told me that unfortunately the restaurant was fully booked and that was the best she could do. Mind you, there was only a handful of customers. She later brought in a family of five and lead them to a four table top, the lady told her they were 5 of them, which there was a table right next to that one that sat 5. She took them to the main dining room where I continued to see that she sat them there. She had just denied me a table in the main area because they were fully booked. By the time the family had gotten there the restaurant had been more filled, so the hostess had contradicted herself.
Another situation was that we had told the waitstaff that the room was cold at two separate occasions, both times they had told us that it was just turned on and the fireplace would also help. It did not. Another server came in to say hello to us and we had mentioned to her how cold it was and she saw that the cool setting was actually turned on. Nobody had bothered to really check it for us. The metal mesh chairs did not help as well.
As far as for the food, it was fine, I just wish I would had been seated closer in order to serve myself seconds, but was scared to have had an accident. I just hate that I spent the money for that experience. I should had listened to my gut and got up and left as soon as the hostess said she couldn’t do anything for us.
Good service, poor food and music in the lounge was not very good. Not a good value.
After a play.
I had a wonderful date night out with my husband. The food was excellent and the jazz band was enjoyable. The only thing that I was disappointed about was the fact that I forgot to take my leftovers home.
Food was quite good, service was friendly, and we enjoyed the atmosphere.
Loved it! Great food, great service, great atmosphere!
Our waitress really made us feel rushed. From the moment we sat down until we left. For a $200 dinner for two, that should not be the experience.
We went late on a Monday night. I was shocked to have live music on a Monday night and it was good. I had a filet and my wife had salmon. Both were very good. Sweet potato was just perfect. French onion soup was great as well. Restaurant was not busy so our service was excellent. We were quite pleased.
My medium rare 10oz filet had a lot of dry spots. 1/4 of my steak was dry. For $44, you’d expect better quality. My husbands $38 Chilean sea bass was not good at all. Tastes flaky, when sea bass is supposed to be melt in your mouth. The sides with the sea bass did not go together at all. Great server, but overall, horrible food for the money. Very disappointed.
Food was a little pricey, but overall very good. The service was wonderful. Nice alternative to the other higher priced steak houses in the area.
Not worth the cost
Other fine dining steakhouses are far superior
The food, service, and atmosphere were all great! I had the beef short rib ravioli and it was amazing! Just when you think you’ve had something fabulous and think you’ll never find anything that ever tastes better, well , the short rib ravioli beat out everything! From the short rib ravioli to the carrot purée they lay on and all the wonderful flavors in between, words cannot properly describe how great it was. I was especially thrilled that the brown butter sauce did not overpower it in the least. I almost didn’t get it because of that. Too many times Ive had ravioli with brown butter sauce and it was just too overpowering to enjoy! Every ingredient in the dish complimented every other ingredient. Perfection!
Sat next to the kitchens the noise level was high. Service was fair at best. Steak was good, salmon was very salty.
We really enjoy this restaurant, close to home and we love the live music. Great cocktails, only criticism is desserts. (0-3)
We will be back.
Saturday night dinner for two. Right from the start, waitstaff service was a bit off... and rather obvious some (more) server training is needed. Pete's Shanghai Calamari appetizer had good flavor. Lobster Bisque soup was uneventful. Twin Main Lobster Tails were good. 7 oz. Filet Mignon with Sauteed Mushrooms was initially served pretty undercooked. Sent back and came back from kitchen acceptable; a good piece of meat not cooked rather properly.
Not an inexpensive dinner out. At this price point, far better service and more consistent food quality is needed to succeed.
Our granddaughter was anxious to try out Pete Miller’s in Naperville where she lives. We had a wonderful time, delicious food and excellent service. I had asked for a quiet area (a booth would have been nice), but we were seated right next to a very noisy table. Otherwise, our experience was good, albeit pricey!
I travel weekly and eat at a lot of different restaurants. The quality of the food was below par for the price paid. I ordered from the Lent menu, and the mustard covered salmon came without the mustard. I ordered a sweet potato, which was relatively small. Others at the table ordered the snow crab, which was cooked too long, softening the external shell, resulting in difficulty cracking the external shell. From the four people at the table, the consensus was unimpressive. There are several other restaurants in the Naperville area that will score much higher for a fraction of the cost.
