We checked in and sat at the bar for 10mins. Not one bartender acknowledged us. Mind you it wasen't very busy. A signed credit card receipt from another party was in front of us for the entire time. Not very safe leaving this info out. They sat us in the library room, i thought someone was going to come and read poetry to us. It was such a quite room we were able to hear everyone's conversations. Our server was a nice young man who i felt was still in training, but his customer service was good. The firey shrimp was very good but everything else was not. My steak was cooked correctly but had no flavor and was boring. Not like the steaks pictured on their site. What really sent me over the top....The scotch, was watered down. I know because this is the only scotch I drink and you can tell by the light color. Spent $220 + $40 for tip because I liked our server. Not worth the money at all. 1st and Last.
We literally waited 15 minutes before anyone came to our table, and that set the tone for the remainder of the dinner. The server made some excuse for the delay and didn’t offer to make amends. No manager to be seen. Food was ok, but it didn’t make up for the poor service. Will probably not go back.
This was the first time dining at this restaurant. I had read both good and bad reviews but went there with an open mind. We were seated immediately and our server Carol came over a few minutes later. She answered a question about wine and came back shortly to take our order. We enjoyed our dinner and will definitely come back. We did not experience any problems with our meal or service.
Lots of flaws in the interior (lights that didn’t work, decor that didn’t make sense). The appetizers were good, the protein was well seasoned, but it was just a seared steak. There were also many little kids running around the restaurant, so not a great place for a date.
Our server couldn't explain how the food was prepared he just said good. He spilled red wine on the table and splashed all over the glass. the crab cake tasted fishy and like vegetable oil. the lamb chops were hard to chew and smelled like burnt oil. I'm a salt lover but the food was even too salty for even me. The only item that was good was the truffle Parmesan fries but not that great that I would need to go back. The prices seemed very high too. I guess we went with expectation that it would be like a Sullivan's or Eddie Merlots but no where near the quality however similar prices.
If your going to compete with the premium steak houses and expect high priced food to entice one to come back, you really need to re evaluate how your doing business.
The waitress did not know her specials nor were we offered cracked pepper with our a la carte salads.
The utensils were dirty and the salt and pepper shakers on our table had food stains on them.
The food was ok but not warranted of the prices you seek.
Overall a bad experience and I will not recommend you to anyone.
Our first time here since morphing from an Irish pub into a steak house. The locally sourced steaks looked to be very high quality, and my dry-aged Kansas City strip was cooked to perfection. I ordered it with encrusted peppercorn coating, and it was bursting with flavor. I do have hearing trouble if there is any background noise, and while the dining room was quiet, there was enough loud music leaking in from the bar area that I had a bit of trouble hearing. It was not so loud that the average person would have any trouble at all with it.
Overall, I would say the food quality was equivalent to any good steak house, and priced accordingly.
This was the first visit to Pete Millers' in Naperville. The food was almost perfect, the vegetables were still crisp and done well.. The service was friendly, attentive and informative.. There was a small three piece combo in the lounge and the noise level was a bit high in the dining room, made conversation just a bit difficult.. We were greeted with a smile and left with a smile... Overall a very good experience.
Food and service was great. We went on Valentine's day and because of how busy they were, we were put into a back room that I think is normally used for private parties. We did not like this area, as we like to go and hear the live music and were unable to hear it in this room. Normally a wonderful time though with great tasting food and outstanding service.
Valentines Day was not what we had hoped for. We took our teenage boys to celebrate Valentines Day. We had a reservation, but watched many people who arrived after us be seated. After seated our server was great, but after appetizers were served our dinner ticket was lost and we waited well over an hour for our food which was eventually served cold and sent back. We waited again and spoke to the manager who comped our app and dessert. The food was okay, but not what I would expect for what we paid. Disappointed overall.
Went for Valentine’s Day and had a great dinner. Our server Joey, was awesome! Super attentive, personable, and knowledgeable about the menu. Kansas City strip was really tasty and done to perfection at medium rare. My wife’s sea bass was done perfectly and is a nice preparation, done more Mediterranean style than the typical Asian influenced prep. We will certainly be back.
I was very disappointed in our first experience at Pete's. We went to dinner for Valentine's Day with another couple. Our reservations were at 5:45, and my husband and I were there at that time. The couple we were dining with was late due to weather. The hostess would not seat us until all of us were present- 20 minutes later. The hostess and manager seemed rushed and not very friendly. The waiter was nice, but we could tell he was busy with Valentine's Day. We were placed near the outer part of the restaurant, so it seemed like we were sometimes forgotten. We all ordered the filet for dinner, and it was more like a regular steak--not tender like filet should be at a high end restaurant. Two of us ordered a baked potato with our meal. It did not come out with the meal. The waiter brought one of them out about 5-10 minutes after our meal was brought out, and then he had to go get another because he forgot we both ordered on. The broccoli side I ordered was cold by the time the potato came. Finally, we were not given our bill for a very long time. We did not see him to request the bill for at 15 minutes. All in all for higher end restaurant, I was not impressed at all.
Pete Millers is a very welcome addition to the South Naperville scene! I would only add, as they are new to Naperville, to ensure to have better presentation skills of the various cuts of meat being served. (There was no presentation) Additionally, the selection of wine by the glass was minimal due to allocation issues with certain brands. One suggestion I would make is to then introduce a new wine or 2 off of your wine list to allow guests to maybe try a new wine. All pricing categories should be represented...i.e do not only have $15 single glass options.
2nd visit and it was much better this visit. Oysters and salads were very good. We both had steak and they were perfectly cooked. Our waiter was exceptional.
We went the 1st time right after they opened and we will be back. Price fix items plus some add ons were excellent.
A really great place, great food. It is fairly new (opened 3 months ago) . Really beautiful place and good jazz intertainment. You can experience it up front in the lounge, a little bit further in 2 of their formal dinning rooms, or if you prefer it much quieter, dine in the Library as we did.
Prices are a bit high, but worth going to. Only thing they need to change is to serve their fantastic food on hot or at least warm plates.
There was a group of us celebrating a birthday. This was during restaurant week; however, we weren't offered a price fixe menu, although we found out after we left that there was one available. Very disappointing, especially when most of what we ordered was on the price fixe menu.
The food was good, but service could be improved. Our service was slow and our waiter brought out the wrong order for one person, didn't give us all of the to-go items, and didn't offer a birthday dessert.
The two of us were seated promptly near the fireplace and away from the Live Jazz, but the music in the bar carried over to the dining area so we could hear easily. Our service was not up to par. When the waitress did arrive after we had plenty of time to review the drinks menu and the dinner menu , I asked if they had the restaurant week menu. She brought it promptly and walked away. We waited a while. Upon returning we ordered off the restaurant week menu and then I said we wanted to order drinks. The drinks came after a few minutes. Then the warm bread came shortly after. The salads took a long time to come to the table. We were not asked if we wanted fresh ground pepper, like other tables were asked. We were not shone the steak tray like other customers were shown. The food arrived shortly after the salads, so the table was covered with bowls and plates, since we wanted to keep our salads. I had ordered a steak, but I had no sharp knife brought to the table, like I had seen other customers receive. I couldn't eat my steak until the waitress would return. Minutes later she stopped and asked how we like our food. I said that I needed a knife. She said she was sorry and got me a knife. She then told us to check our meat for doneness. It looked done. My meal was no longer hot and the beans should have been cooked longer. Our water glasses were filled when needed by those that do that. The cheese cake for dessert was very good. If my service had been good and my meal had been hot, I would have enjoyed my reservation much more.
We decided to try Pete Miller's during restaurant week as it is very close to where we live. We were pleasantly surprised at how nice the place is. Our server was excellent and very informative about the menu.
They have live music but it was not too load and you could still carry on a conversation. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner and will definitely be back.
I used to frequent this restaurant quite often when it was branded Tommy Nevins and loved it. With that being said, I was really looking forward to trying Pete Miller’s knowing that it was now a higher end steak and seafood restaurant. Unfortunately I was extremely disappointed. I found the food to be overpriced for the quality. I ordered the dry aged Kansas City strip and it was average at best....the same could be said for my date’s filet. The service, atmosphere and presentation were all fine but the food did not live up to my expectations.
My wife and my first time at this restaurant. Server was knowledgeable and attentive. Liked the live music. Nice ambiance. Noise level fine. Nice place to go with friends or a group. I had the pork chop. Really good flavor as was my wife’s trout. Good place to go without having to travel to Oak Brook or Chicago. I will definitely go back to continue trying more things on the menu.
