Our waiter Abundio was superb as always. Try the negronis. They are fantastic. The butter nut squash gnocchi was outstanding.

What we like about Petaluma is the easy going neighborhood-restaurant but with a good touch of elegance and fine-dining ambience, the (near-) authentic Italian feel (both decor-wise and food-wise, and without trying to overdo it), and most of all- the fact that they are always able to accomodate our family of three boys (1-7 years). Our boys have a good karma in this restaurant (and love the food, especially the pizza) and this goes a long way. With regards to the food- overall it’s always a pleasure, but there is a wide variation between dishes and not all are automatic winners. The pizza is excellent, dessert menu solid good, and most appetizers as well. Service is also overall very good, usually not stellar, but it’s OK and who cares.. To sum it up- a lovely and highly recommended neighborhood restaurant that works great for both family dining and romantic dates.
Noise cancelling earphones required! Loud loud loud! Could not enjoy my dinner. Happy hour bartender personable. Would recommend for happy hour but probabaly not for dinner. Food adequate, dining room too loud for any type of conversation, however our waitress was excellent so it was not a total dud of a place:(
Awesome experience great service, my girls and I had such a good time.
First time we had been there for lunch, and it was extremely pleasant.... Excellent pizza and a salad... friendly service and nice and quiet so we could all talk. We loved it!
Definitely a neighborhood gem! Service was attentive and exceptionally friendly. I had the lobster with linguini and it was fabulous--very tasty with just enough of a kick. We did not feel rushed after the bill was paid and it was a busy Saturday night. I look forward to going back very soon.

Food was not good despite the constant staff questioning how is the food - at least 12 times within 1 hour with the same question. Enough already- I will not return in the future—once was all I will ever need.
This place was just ok. I had friends in town and I’m new to the upper east side so I gave it a try. There are more authentic Italian places, this seemed almost like a chain. The food wasn’t bad but I probably wouldn’t go again.

We have eaten at this restaurant a number of times in the past and have had generally very good experiences.The food as always tasty and plentiful and the service good. During good weather months the outside dining add a nice touch. The latest visit, however, was not a good one. The restaurant had been largely taken over by a large and loud private party and we (and other non party patrons) were relegated to the "back room" which was initially very cold and only warmed up somewhat during our stay. It was obvious that the wait staff was overwhelmed by the situation and our service was slow, uneven and not without error. The portable divider between a portion of the "party" and us nearly fell over on a pregnant woman when it was inadvertently bumped. The food was good, as usual, albeit slow in arriving. Bottom line, when this restaurant books a large event such as we encountered, it either needs to close to casual diners or put on enough wait staff to handle both functions.

My boyfriend and I love this restaurant. Not the best spot for date night- it’s loud and the tables are very close together— it’s hard to have a conversation.

We haven't been to Petaluma in about 10 years and decided to try it again for Christmas Eve. We were very happy we returned. The pizza was fantastic! All four of us were delighted with our dishes-eggplant nonna, chicken franscese, veal marsala and salmon zoodles. We were so full that we didn't have room for the delicious desserts. We will indeed make this a regular place to go for dinner!
Petaluma is a wonderful Italian restaurant that offers many different pasta specialities, salads, seafood, meat dishes and pizzas. The pizzas are made in the wood-fired brick oven and are amazing. The cocktails are excellent and the deserts are very good as well. This restaurant has a private room that is a wonderful place for a large group celebrating a birthday or other special occasion. The service is very friendly and the restaurant is kid-friendly. We have never been disappointed at Petaluma and we highly recommend it.

Went here with a large group on a Friday night. They were very accommodating. Food came out relatively quickly with a few hiccups.

Have always regarded Petaluma as my favorite neighborhood restaurant. Since renovation one does not get value for the money. Prices up and portions are tinier. Clearly will now consider Petuluma in conjunction with others in the neighborhood
Lived in the neighborhood for 10 years back in the 1990s and went to Petaluma often. Food was always good, selection was great and people couldn’t have been nicer. Going back now the charm is gone, service was adequate and lunch was average at best.

It was a perfect restaurant for a casual Saturday nite birthday dinner for my 23 year old son. The food was delightful and ambience was convivial and comfortable. Price was slightly lower than other Italian restaurants.
Good, reasonably priced UES spot, with decent wine specials. It's a good go to spot.

So glad we found Petaluma! We enjoyed a delicious and unusual mixed salad and a very yummy pizza on Friday night so much that we returned on Saturday night for their chicken francese! The service is excellent and the decor is pretty.
Service was terrible as only one dinner order arrived and after 15 minutes when other dinner had not arrived I cancelled same, which was then subsequently provided with the pasta only half cooked. Even though I was not charged for same, the overall atmosphere was noisy food was very poor and service terrible.
Quality food served fresh and hot. Our waiter was a bit slow, but rest of staff was attentive. We went for brunch, and even tho I had a breakfast meal, I did appreciate the wide variety of non breakfast items offered. Something for everyone!

THE RESTAURANT HAS GONE DOWNHILL IN THE LAST FEW MONTHS. AT FIRST IT WAS NOT GREAT THAN A YEAR LATER IT GOT BETTER. NOW IT SHOULD BE PIZZA AND BAR RESTAURANT, TO BAD IT USED TO BE REALLY GREAT YEARS AGP.
Absolutely delicious from start to finish!
The shaved Brussels sprouts salad was exquisite and the eggplant Parmesan just right! Then we ordered the pizza with truffle oil,arugula an doarmesan and that was amazingly tasty!!! Service was very friendly and attentive.

The service was great -- friendly. But the restaurant was very loud. They should do something about acoustics. We all loved our meal -- great fish and pasta Vongole. And a delicious trio of canolli.
Had not been there in years and it looks like it hasn't been updated since then. Definitely tired and food mediocre. Too pricey for what u got.
Amazing food with even more amazing service. Would highly recommend the shrimp scampi and pizza!
