Pesce e Riso
PESCE E RISO means “fish & rice” in Italian, which are the building blocks of Japanese cuisine and lend itself beautifully to Italian cuisine. We want to create an exciting, relaxing & memorable environment for you to enjoy while dinning in the company of your family and friends.
I've always passed by this place and wanted to try it. I was impressed with the menu and flavors! Similar to The House next door in terms of size and types of dishes. Keep in mind that some of the tables are the kind that are stuck next to other people. That didn't bother us but it makes it kind of loud with everyone talking over each other. The octopus, broccolini and risotto were excellent!
Fleet Week dinner out. Took a few minutes to “get” the Japanese/Italian fusion theme - but it all worked! Great flavors all around.
I loved the fusion Italian and Japanese cuisine. The arancini appz was amazing. The agnolotti dish was delish! I’d go back for sure. If it wasn’t for parking situation in north beach neighborhood I’d be here all the time! I promise to come back to try other dishes in the menu.
Food was outstanding and way beyond my expectations. All the ingredients were fresh. Environment is good. Highly recommended and will definitely go back.
We loved this neighborhood restaurant. Very good and friendly service. The food was delicious. Great ingredients and creative fusion of Italian and Japanese dishes. I highly recommend. We really wanted to find a good restaurant in North Beach that was not touristy. Excellent.
Very Good. . . . . . Charactersssss sssss ssssss sssss ss
The confluence of Italian and Japanese flavors and cooking techniques was revelatory and not overstated at any point. Delicate use of unexpected flavorings like dill flower or shiso leaf and the meeting of carpaccio and sashimi were inspired and delicious. Thoroughly recommended.
I went with my friend, it was such a delightful surprise. The food was excellent, setting was lovely. Would definitely recommend it!
Understaffed which means slow service which also means stressed workers
This restaurant provided a wonderful mix of Italian and Japanese flavors. We will definitely return.
This is an absolute gem in North Beach. The idea of Japanese/Italian fusion was really interesting to me from the start, and I was even more impressed by the execution of all the dishes! Everything we ordered was delicious and very nicely plated. Who would have thought Japanese flavors can be served in an Italian style, and vice versa? It was a lovely little something different.
I went here with my dad, and we both agreed the ambiance was relaxing and refreshing, from the soft muted color scheme to the artistic tableware to the delicate flowers in small vases on each table. It would be a great spot for a date or family dinner, since it is quiet and you can actually hear each other! (Not to mention the food is unique and impressive.) We were there on a Thursday and it was calm and not packed. It's probably a lot busier on Fridays and Saturdays. Service is fantastic and so friendly! My dad and I really enjoyed talking with our waiter, Lucca.
We would absolutely return! I cannot recommend this place enough. If you're interested in going here, don't even hesitate—book it now. You are guaranteed to have a delicious meal and a wonderful dining experience.
Tiny place with a small frontage right in the beating heart of North Beach, Just steps off Columbus, don’t miss it! great happy hour specials and the food ... THE FOOD!
Fantastic dishes!! the lamb chop was outstanding!!
A beautiful culinary experience, comprised of rich flavors and imaginative juxtaposition of tastes.
Food ok. But the place is run down.
If I was selfish I would actually not recommend this place because it's so damn good I don't want it to get crowded. It is a true Gem of San Francisco and one of my best dining experiences in 30 years
Delicate and delicious dishes, embracing the flavor of every ingredient. Excellent, attentive service. Convenient location before shows or music scene.
Magnifico! What a gem of a find! Loved everything about the amazing cooking and the spirit of this ristorante,
the dishes were unique and prepared with care. artichoke/sushi roll salad was really fresh and delicious. calamari was incredible (not fried!) and all of the pasta dishes are homemade and tasty. the service was amazing too.
Wonderful experience! We shared halibut crudo, octopus, lamb chop and meat ball pasta. Excellent Food!!!
lovely interior and nice service too. We will be back soon.
This is the most creative and delicious food I have enjoyed in a very long time. The fusion of Italian and Japanese totally delivers with fresh flavors and textures. My mouth is watering just thinking about it! We ate several appetizers instead of mains so we could try more dishes. The Arancini with salmon is a must. The octopus was the most tender I have ever eaten and the halibut crudo was so fresh. The light Japanese sauces enhanced the flavors of the fresh seafood. We enjoyed a lovely rose wine with our meal. Service was also excellent. I highly recommend this neighborhood gem. I will be returning soon.
Interesting food menu, very San Francisco and very Italian staff. Nice mix of asian and Italian. Excellent appetizer choices....not your average North Beach restaurant.
Always a pleasure coming here. The owner is welcoming and makes it a very personal dining experience.
Food is outstanding, service excellent, location convenient
I was looking for Italian seafood, and ran a search for “Pesce” (Italian for “fish”), and “Pesce e Riso” came up. Saw the description that it was Italian-Japanese fusion, so although unsure, it still sounded interesting enough and decided to take a chance. Result: I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED! In fact, everything I had was absolutely delicious. Gian-Luca, the manager and my waiter, was absolutely a charm and I also got a chance to practice my Italian. Overall, great food, great service, great ambiance, and a “pancia contenta” (happy belly). I highly recommend it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Amazing food with a very good combination of Italian and Japanese tastes.
Amazing food and great service! Will definitely be visiting this restaurant again!
Service was wonderful and food was outstanding. Bathrooms were very clean and the decor was warm and inviting. I highly recommend. We will definitely be back!
In a market flooded with fusion concepts, Pesce e Riso stood out with some very original concepts and flavors I haven’t seen paired together. The staff was friendly and attentive and the food was amazing.
We started with the Tempura misto and the shishito peppers with the miso paste, both were great. The salmon carpaccio was probably the standout from the night with superb quality of fish that melted in your mouth and the shiso pesto was original and delicious. I finished up with the Kurobota Tagliatelle which was perfectly executed with house made pasta and a rich savory sauce.
Great food that takes the best from both cuisines and creates a unique taste. The seafood was fresh and cooked perfectly. I recommend this place if you're looking for a one of a kind dining experience in SF. Oh and the wine was amazing!
Anytime I can visit this restaurant I am surprised : the summer menu looks delicious! Pappardelle with fava beans pecorino cheese and bottarga is out of this world!! Braised baby octopus served with coliflower and Japanese mustard is superb . Finally dry aged sirloin served with caponata was the cherry on the pie !!!
Flawless and attentive service in a very unique ambience !
I really enjoyed Pesce e Riso! I ordered the meat ball pasta and shared a spinach salad, arancini salmon roll and stuffed calamari main course with my friend. The meat ball tagliatelle was very very tasty, best meat ball I have ever had , super delicious. The spinach salad was refreshing, arancini salmon roll was little spicy but super yummy. the highlight of the dinner was the caramali main course, really like the rice stuffing. Overall we had a very nice experience.
Great experience! The food was tasty and inventive. For appetizers, we had the arincini roll and salmon carpaccio. Both very good. I had the calamari stuffed with rice, which I enjoyed. The cocktails were good too. The server said they were actually made with sou jou which is less alcohol than regular spirits.
I really enjoy the small restaurant, personal touch and uniqueness. Great location in North Beach, and didn't seem too touristy like locations right on Columbus.
Only draw back was the kitchen was a little slow, but servers were very attentive. It wasn't super crowded for a Saturday night. Just don't be in a hurry if you go. Last minute date night and reservations were pretty easy to cone by.
Lots of fun after Beach Blanket Babylon! Our server, Anna, was delightful, and the combination of Italian and Japanese dishes unique. We shared the Tempura Misto, Tomayaki, and Aranachi roll appetizers. I had Rissotto with Prawns which was delicious, and got to taste the Hangar Steak, Lamb Chops, and Calamari. Titramisu was one of the best ever — 9.5/10 including Italy! Highly enjoyable!
A truly Neighborhood Gem, everything we tried was so fresh and delicious. love their tiramisu.
We for sure will be back soon.
I really loved the food here...the salmon roll appetizer was so delicious, I wanted to get another order but had so much more food coming. Spinach salad dressing was perfect to start on such a hot day.
Fantastic Bronzino again plus awesome appetizers Arancini is great
Very cute place and incredible food. We really enjoyed it. Highly recommended!
The food was great. Loved the little fishes tempura. Staff so welcoming. Nice wine list.
Incredible service, unique menu and drinks, and simple, yet warm, atmosphere.
