Perry's Steakhouse & Grille - Memorial City Ratings and Reviews
This was a late night reservation that was close to closing time, but that shouldn't make a difference when it comes to service and presentation.
One guest did not receive the whole meal that was placed, missing the steak. Secondly,
the celebrant's food arrived over cooked, and the replacement steak came out well after everyone was done with their meal
Ok, Perry's new interior “look” is, in my opinion, a step backwards. I much preferred the old look. I understand wanting to change to something more modern and trendy to keep up with the times, but again I believe it is a step backwards from the previous look of the restaurant. There are 2 components to this: the layout, and the décor. The worst part is the layout. It just feels like a big open cafeteria setting. This is not good for a high-end restaurant. The decor is ok, not too bad, and could have been made to work with the old layout. The old layout felt cozy, special, high-end. Now it just feels cafeteria-like. Like you’re having dinner with 100 other people. Advice: change back to the old layout, and update the décor as you see fit. Keep the cozy, special, high-end feeling.
The food continues to be excellent. I do prefer Perry’s food to Capital Grille, Brenner’s, Fleming’s, etc.
Firstly, I don’t enjoy leaving this type of review for any businesses as I know it can be tough to please everyone when it comes to customer service. However, my kids and I have continued to return to Perrys for a few years for their infamous pork chops, sides and desserts, regardless of the number of times of bad wait services (and I have not given any reviews in the past when asked to do so). However, the pork chops were very disappointing this time (over cooked - meat was tough to bite into, not the usual tenderness/juiciness and different seasoning/flavoring than usual, on both orders. My 11 year old daughter could definitely tell the difference as she didn’t finish her meal this time) and the new waiter is no better. The new renovated decor is a lot nicer and brightens up the place; however, Perry’s is still not fulfilling their quality of services for what they are striving for. And we pay a good amount of money to eat there. It’s unfortunate because we really enjoy the food there in the past, regardless of the services :(
Although the food and table service was excellent, there were too many tables in the area. It was difficult to get through the aisles when trying to be seated and at the same time while servers were placing food on the tables. This made it even more difficult for my guest who was on a walker to maneuver through to get to our table.
Upon leaving, valet services would not let me park near the door for my handicapped guest to get in the car. I was told that they had been very busy and they needed the area. I was asked to park on the street, three cars away from the door on the side of the road. I told them that my guest could not walk that far but still asked to move even though there were no cars behind me waiting to valet park. I did not park where instructed but U-turned from the valet area and parked in the middle of the street so accommodate my handicapped guest. I felt bad doing this but I had no choice. It took just a couple of minutes to assist her in the car. We left our beautiful lunch experience on a sour note because of this.
Was a bit noisy for the minimal amount of people that were there, but overall the experience was a good one. It was my first time there and my first time hosting a business lunch meeting, and I would definitely come back for future events. Our server was extremely sweet and attentive.
My wife’s steak was way over-cooked. Though the manager offered to cook a new one, my wife didn’t want to make a scene, so she refused. He did comp the steak, but she didn’t eat it.
Took a long time to get our dessert (Nutty de Angelo) ~ 30 minutes, but it was delicious. When we got home, we discovered waiter had not boxed up all the requedted leftovers.
Overall, disappointing experience, considering we chose Perry’s to celebrate my mother in law’s 101st birthday.
Went to Perry's to celebrate our 47th anniversary. Waiter suggested the special for the evening, a Snake River 6 oz. steak. My wife asked directly, "Would you recommend that over the 6 oz. filet mignon?" His answer, "Absolutely!" We ordered the special and it was inedible (tough) and over cooked. STRIKE ONE. When he came back to clear the plates he noticed the large untouched pieces of meat and asked what the problem was and we told him that the steak was not something he should recommend. The manager was obviously informed because shortly thereafter, he was going table to table asking how the dining experience was and for some strange reason he skipped only our table. STRIKE TWO. We tried to salvage the evening and ordered a dessert. We waited 25 minutes for a serving of bread pudding. STRIKE THREE. Not a good experience.
I took my husband to Perry’s for his birthday and he loved the entire experience that we have been back for several occasions! The food is great and we love the atmosphere! I wanted to eat here for my birthday and I enjoyed my day once again! This is a restaurant that makes you smile and feel special!
I was appalled when I ordered the fried shrimp with either French fries or sweet potato fries and asked if I could have a baked potato instead. The answer was no, we can't substitute. I was offered several other choices. The only way I could have a backed potato was to order one for $9.95. I was really shocked.
Wife and I come 3-4 times a year to this location. Outside of having what we think was a rookie waiter which we overlooked, my wife's steak was not cooked to her satisfaction. We both ordered Filet's medium & butterflied, mine came out perfect but hers was more med. rare. Waiter asked if he could take back but wife was worried that it would be more well that medium well based on the looks of the steak brought out. We declined the offer and wife ate most. Should not deter us from coming again with hope of a lot better experience.
I will preface this review by saying that this was Christmas Eve and the place was packed...
We had a 7 o'clock reservation for 6 and we were sat right away. The table was not a good location as we were at the end of the bathroom hallway in an open area with a lot of traffic. The restaurant was very loud so with a fairly big table it was hard to have a conversation.
We ordered our drinks and appetizer in short order but 25 minutes later and we still didn't have them or even the bread we requested. We complained to the manager who was very apologetic and offered to comp some drinks. He assured us things would be better but they had some major back ups in the kitchen.
We eventually got our drinks and placed our dinner order. Unfortunately, the promise of things getting better did not happen. It took well over an hour before our food arrived and there were a couple of issues; my steak was overcooked and they brought us one wrong vegetable. At this point I wasn't going to say anything because we just decided to enjoy the dinner and make it a nice evening despite the restaurant issues. Plus, waiting on those to get corrected would probably take another 30 minutes. The manager also gave us a nice bottle of Merlot.
Despite all this we had a very nice time. The manager (Mike) and waiter (Kenneth) were very apologetic and did everything they could to make things right. It was because of the way they handled the situation that we will likely return and also why I said that I would recommend this restaurant. I rated the service as poor because of the kitchen not because of the waiter or manager.
