Perry's Steakhouse & Grille - Downtown Austin Ratings and Reviews
We were very dissatisfied with our experience here. The waiter was not friendly, did not know the product, and was continually forgetting our requests. We continued to be kind and patient but for a $500 + dinner the service was unacceptable. The manager did come out and try to make up for it. Our lobster and wagu beef came out cold. Our son (with dairy allergy which was explained) orders the pork chop and it came out with butter curds on top. He was too afraid to eat it,so they offered to give him a new one. Which we were told was in our to go bag—-it was not . So he ate nothing, and nothing was comped from our bill. When you order wagu rare, and it gets to the table cold , they just heated it up, over cooked it and brought it back. Unacceptable for a $300 entrée .
A fine dining established needs to ensure they have appropriate servers. This guy was not that he could not answer any questions not even what sauce does the shrimp appetizer cone with or how many. This does not give me any confidence that a food allergy concern would be handled appropriately and it was not.
Went early to have a beverage before dinner. Took too long to get anyone’s attention we could communicate with. Ordered an app and drinks. Drinks good. App was lukewarm.
Dinner seated in upper dining room. Started well but server became increasingly absent. Seemed to be running downstairs a lot. Was held hostage for almost 30 minutes trying to pay the bill to get home and relive the babysitter. Worst Perry’s experience ever. Horrible compared to Houston experiences.
Excellent tasting steaks. After going to Sullivan's for our trice annual celebrations, we were not sure what to expect. But after hearing comments from other people, we were not surprised with the quality and customer service that we received. It was our anniversary and they made it extra special.
Waited 30 minutes to be seated after we checked in for our reservation. (I get it it’s Valentines dinner) the hostess had no eye contact what so ever.
It was a great pre fixed menu and the fried asparagus was to die for (way better than last time we were there) the courses weren’t coordinated well... dessert was brought to our table two minutes after we got our entree. We saw our server two times when he took our order and when he dropped off the check. Overall the food was great.
As usual, our visit to Perry's steakhouse was beyond excellent! First of all I must commend the service! The wait staff, every single one of them, are attentive, happy, and they go the extra mile to make your experience special! We have our favorites who will I'll always keep us coming back for more. It's like family! We always bring our out of town guests there to share our experiences with them.
Until soon Perry's,
Worst fine dining experience in memory. Good ambiance and great calamari, but absolutely atrocious service and steak was not even warm. I'm low maintenance, but our experience warranted a review.
Service: The waiter rarely came around, and twice he literally walked away mid-sentence as we tried to order (one was a bottle of wine that had a similar name to a bottle 6x the price). Later we ordered two Macallan drinks (not cheap), and after waiting forever, finally had to alert the hostess that we had no idea where our waiter was. He comes around a few minutes later, plops them down, and I said "we thought you forgot". To which he actually laughed and said "ha I did". Not even an attempt at an apology, and walks away. We were 3 chill guys with a $500 tab and this treatment is obviously unacceptable.
Food: the calamari was unique and amazing. However, 2 of us got the surf n turf, and food was room temperature, like the entrees had been sitting undelivered for a long time. We didn't bother sending back given the level of service to that point, and ate our losses.
Needless to say, there a lots of places where you can spend a lot and have a great experience, and we won't be returning here.
The reviews do not lie, it is pricey to dine here, but for special occasions, I think it's very worth it! As this was our first time dining at this restaurant, at the beginning of our dinner our waitress told us the history - amazing!
All our dinner choices came out perfect! I don't believe there is a bad option on the menu!
Very attentive staff - had great recommendations too!
I would absolutely go back here for another special occasion!
So my wife and I went Perry’s for her Birthday. We were there back in December and had to cut our meal short due to problems in the kitchen. We went back tonight and I have to say we received the best service and care by the Perry’s team. This place is first class all the way.
Two words...Pork Chop...your life will never be the same.
Side note...out family dined here for Mother’s Day 2017 as well. With 4 adults and 7 kids we experienced the same top service.
We went for Perry's Friday Pork chop lunch special, $14.99. Had a nice glass of wine and shared bananas foster. We'd eaten there about 10 years ago, same pork chop, and remember it a little bit more moist than we had yesterday. But it was still delicious. Came with potatoes my husband loved and applesauce which was a wonderful topping. Dessert was delicious too. They were awfully busy and the service wasn't fast but very reasonable. A wonderful meal for relatively little money. We will go again.
I have dined at Perry's four times at this point, and unfortunately I will not be coming back. I might stop by for dessert, but I have found that dinner service is consistently disappointing. Little things, like running out of whiskey, overcooking a filet, and often spotty service make it too hard to swallow the $100+ / person pricetag. Frankly, it's just not as relaxing and enjoyable as a fine dining establishment should be.
We went here to celebrate my son's 19th birthday and we were not disappointed. Our service was wonderful, our drinks were never empty and the food recommendations were spot on. We had several different people serving us, from the waiter to those who carved special cuts of meat tableside, to the man who prepared our bananas foster. The food was excellent, a great place for a special occasion.
Decided on Perry’s to celebrate my wife’s birthday while we were in Austin. When we got there the hostess wished my wife a happy birthday, and I assumed that they would make her visit memorable by acknowledging it a few times during our stay. I guess I’ve been spoiled by visiting Fleming’s in various cities, since they always go over the top for the celebrant. The birthday was never brought up again once we got to our table. Service seemed a little rushed, since the meal came before we finished our salads and we were never offered coffee or tea , and received the check with our desert.
The meal was excellent, the ambiance very nice, and the service good but nothing to make the evening “special.” I might go back to just enjoy a good meal, but not to celebrate a special occasion.
The friday lunch deal is great! The pork chop is huge, the sides are delicious, and it is all very reasonably priced. Our waitress was friendly, charming, and helpful, and the staff as a whole was nice and courteous. We could not have had a better experience at Perry's!
