Perry's Famous Pork Chop Friday Lunch

Today I had an experience at Perry's that transformed my life. I've been to Perry's several times in the past for lunch on Friday and this time tops every experience I have had prior, and dare I say at any restaurant ever. Our server was Brian, and he led us on a fantastic food journey that finished with no complaints and full bellies. I've never had such exceptional service by an individual before as I had with Brian. His suggestion of having the classic pork chop, with a slab of bacon, maple marmalade, and blue cheese did not steer me wrong, and the conversation he made was enjoyable. 10/10 would recommend you asking for Brian, because I know I will every time I go back from here on out and I'll be ordering "The Brian" pork chop.
Went for my birthday and had never been before. Waited an HOUR for each course to come out which made the whole meal last almost 4 1/2 hours…
Other guests sat down after us and got their meals before us. The restaurant was decently busy but seemed to have plenty of staff for other parties of the same size (6 people).
Waitress was very personable which isn’t a requirement but it definitely didn’t feel like she was doing everything she could to make sure our experience was fantastic regardless of the wait. Very basic costumer service for a pretty hefty bill.
The food was delicious and the only reason I would try this restaurant again. However, if I receive the same service, this would be a BIG no for me.
Service was very slow. Took a long time to get out sides. The manager did come over and offered us a free wine and beer.
Server was great; highly attentive. Wine service was stunningly slow; 30 minor longer wait for sommelier but once he showed up provided good advice. Appetizers (crab cake and calamari) were mediocre at best. Not sure what happened there but execution fumbled. Pork chop was outstanding; definitely large enough to share or save for “tomorrow.” (I choose “save…”). Steaks were also apparently excellent; prepared as ordered. Not special or unique experience for Austin but reasonable last minute choice for conference entertaining.
The food was wonderful. Steaks and Sea Bass were ordered and all were cooked to perfection. One member of our party has a couple of allergies and our server, Donovan, and his manager took great care to be sure everything was prepared as requested. The service was amazing! Thanks for a great evening!
Everything at the restaurant was excellent, the service was exceptional our waiter Chris was great, very attentive and polite. I will be back !
The waiter was great and attentive. Food was delicious. We had a wonderful experience.
Everything was perfect! For our first time dining there we were nothing short of impressed.
Perry's in downtown Austin is overall disappointing. The server was okay not super attentive like you would expect at a restaurant that charges the way they do, he didn't do anything wrong except requiring to be waved down the few times we needed assistance and the check. The food was bland at best, the sea bass was lifeless and uninspired to the point that the star of the dish was the corn the fish sat on. The King Crab Mac & Cheese would have been better from the freezer aisle. The crumbles on top were burnt and other than the burnt taste the actual dish tasted like raw cooked pasta with nothing on it. The scallops wrapped in bacon tasted similar to a hot dog and the steak that we had was well over seasoned, although temped perfectly. We didn't ask for a manager as we didn't want to cause an issue and just wanted to leave, plus it seemed like everyone else was enjoying their meals. So maybe it was just us? We aren't food critics just genuinely didn't like what we got with a few exceptions. The first of those being the whipped potatoes which were actually good. Also given a complimentary dessert trio, for our anniversary, that was great as well. The most impressive dish was the fried lobster starter. Those few highlights withstanding, we wasted $300 dollars, and worse yet this was our anniversary dinner. We spent the same amount at Trulucks recently and were far, FAR, more impressed. If it was an off night we'll never know since we won't be going back.
Almost forgot, the roses on table were a nice touch.
Great atmosphere, and amazing food. Our waiter Andrew, was awesome. They helped us celebrate our anniversary, and acknowledge it right as we arrived. We will absolutely recommend, and a return.
Two words - Pork Chop ! Service was a bit lacking.
Food and service were wonderful
Great service and delicious food! Spent two special occasions there and will continue to go back.
Amazing food and Atmosphere and our Waiter Marco Polo was excellent.
Absolutely amazing!! They accommodated my friend’s surprise birthday dinner. Our server, Dallas, was polite, professional and quick. Dallas kept our waters full. Our food came out amazing, cook perfectly. And the little birthday desert was delicious!! And even accommodated gluten free!!! Amazing place!! Highly recommend!!
Food amazing. When we came in, I went to restroom. My wife was seated without me, and when I asked where she was seated, I was told I wouldn’t have found her on my own. 3 levels up in the back table. Literally the furthest and most remote table from door. A stark room with about 6 tables and absolutely no atmosphere. I didn’t change seating as my wife has a bad back about to have surgery. Would have been worse to go back down. Ordered drinks, which took 20 minutes to arrive, and they brought the wrong one for me. Took another 20 minutes to correct drink. Ordered an appetizer of chilled shrimp. When waiter came back for 3rd time to tell us our steaks were just about on the way, I asked what happened to my appetizer. He said he hadn’t heard me. He asked if I wanted it, and I said no if meal coming soon. Meal did not come soon, and he brought the shrimp and said no charge. When steaks finally came, I got a rib eye, when I ordered a bone in rib eye. Just accepted what I got. Didn’t have energy to re-do. Thankfully the food was outstanding. My wife and I agreed one the best steaks we’ve ever had. I will say a different waiter showed pity on my wife, and had management open the fire door so my wife could step right out onto Colorado without her having to walk down 3 levels. We just moved to Austin 2 months ago and we’ve been looking for our go to best restaurants. Perry’s will not be on that list. We go to restaurants for both food and the atmosphere and experience that comes with it. When I left to go downstairs to get my car to pick my wife up, I felt jealous of all the fun the diners downstairs were having. It was a robust environment. Wish I had been there rather than relegated to a gulag.
Not good business. Waiter admitted he had been on the job for 2 months. Clearly not trained, and probably relegated to the hinterland to wait on less important diners like us. We will not be back and I will tell everyone not to go. Overall terrible experience.
The outstanding service, attention to detail and of course the food are all top notch.
For my money they have the best steaks anywhere. Simply delicious.
Enjoyable celebratory meal overall. Nice atmosphere with respectable service. Skip dessert which is pedestrian at best. Ruth Chris and The Palm are superior steak restaurant chains to this place which simply suffers from good but boring food.
Everything was great. We were greeted at the door with a big smile AND a complement on how nice we looked. We were immediately taken to our seats, even though I had changed our reservation time about 3 times, one being about an hour before we arrived. The server was very polite, knowledgable, and timely. The food was MAGNIFICENT! I will definitely come again.
Very worn out Perry’s location. Dirty carpets, high traffic. Food okay. Time for a remodel and new menu.
I’ve been in Texas for 2 years and this was easily the best food I have ever had the pleasure of eating. I would give more stars if I could.
We went Friday for the pork chop lunch special. It’s always great. The staff was friendly and quick. They didn’t come to the table too frequently. It was a great lunch.
The food and service was outstanding! I did not have to wait long for anything after I ordered it and I appreciated the attentiveness of the server.
Go on Friday’s for lunch and have the pork chop special. I would go back to Perry’s just for it.
It was a husband’s birthday and we were sat right in front of the kitchen entrance for the price I could have gone somewhere else with a better view.
Terrible service that took forever to give you improperly Cooked steaks at an outrageous price. Avoid
Amazing food & service! Steak was cooked perfectly
Our food was excellent and the service was great as well.
Excellent way to celebrate a Birthday, thank you
Our server Emilia was outstanding. She took good care of us in a professional manner and had a good sense of humor. The food was outstanding - great steaks.
Our server was fantastic and the meal was quite good. The filet mignon was done to perfection and the whipped potatoes were light and creamy. Highly recommend for a great meal overall.
We had a wonderful anniversary dinner, the pork chop was outstanding.
overcooked a 100 dollar tomahawk. no manager to come check how experience was. food was okay for the price range but there are better options for a tastier steak in Austin for the same money.
The food was fantastic and the service was top tier. Most definitely recommend :)
Amazing food, Trevor our waiter was amazing. Definitely recommend the Beef & Bleu appetizer.
It was an excellent dining experience. The host and our waiter, Joe were excellent!
For a fabulous feast, try the pork chop, which is carved at table side.
While it was extremely too dark, the entire experience was beyond great. We enjoyed everything from the cocktails, to salads, then especially our steaks. Perfection.
Absolutely amazing evening, definitely will be going back there or in Houston Texas, my meal is the best meal that I will be having in 2021
