Perry's Steakhouse & Grille - Downtown Austin Ratings and Reviews
The food was up to par. Service was brisk. My husband ordered the famous pork chop, which in the past has been carved tableside. This time it was served to him, already carved and just plopped down in front of him with no description. Not up to the standard we expect.
It was my daughter's birthday and they delivered to her a nice complimentary dessert. They also gave the rest of us dessert menus. No one ever asked us if we wanted dessert. Next thing you know, they scoop up those menus and drop off the bill. It felt very rushed and an abrupt ending to a nice dinner. Sort of disappointed in Perry's that night.
My wife and I went here for our 18th anniversary. A kitchen fire had us out in the street within 45 minutes of dinning. The fire department showed up as well. The manager said not to worry about our bill but our waiter tried to bill us anyway. They stated if we return again they will take care of us. Not sure what that means at this point. I will update the review after we visit again.
Eric was our waiter and did a fantastic job. When I made the reservation I didn’t realize you could only get specials in the bar area and I didn’t request that seating but Eric talked to the manager and got the specials at our table in the back. He went out of his way to make sure our every need was met. Thank You Eric!!
Have had better experiences. Server wasn't attentive as some of the others. Was left without water multiple times, even another server had to bring us some without even asking. Bread was served after meal came. Pork chop wasn't hot enough. Sat in ugly upstairs corner with the low ceiling; had reservations. Bathroom upstairs needs an update and deep clean.
We always enjoy dining at Perry's. The food was outstanding -- but our service was not as exemplary as it has been in the past. Overall, we will return, but we will very much hope that the service next time is back to the level of excellence that we expect.
this is a high end steak house...........BUT, you MUST have the pork chop.
it's their house specialty.
the serving is PLENTY for two.
i am not a pork chop person what so ever. Went here for a good steak..................but OMG, the pork chop is better than any steak you will ever eat. it has a brown sugar, molasses glaze to it and it falls apart with a touch of a fork.
I'm a foodie. This pork chop is one of the best things i have ever eaten. Check my reviews, i eat at fine places and this pork chop is as good as anything i've ever eaten.
did i tell you the pork chop is good?
We had our company holiday dinner here. It was a very nice, enjoyable dinner. The restaurant is very lovely, with great Christmas decor. Great food and drink options for all. We had 7 people in our group, everyone enjoyed their dinner and desserts.
The only downside was seating. We were placed at a table with very little wiggle room.
One member of our party ordered Lobster, but the drawn butter did not arrive until more than 5 minutes after the lobster. When it was pointed out that the butter was left off the order waitress said "I'll be right back". Did not happen. Drinks took a full 10 minutes to arrive. When food arrived or plates picked up, it was not "take from the left, deliver from the right" or whatever, but was reached across patrons and even across the table. At the table next to us, a different waiter mistook an order for a bottle of wine with an order for a glass. When alerted to the mistake, he took away the glass, instead of comping it. Leaving the patron with nothing to drink for another 10 minutes. Our wine was served room temperature. Need I go on?
We always dine at Perry's the day after Thanksgiving, we've been doing it for years. Great table upstairs but service was slow, drinks took forever and when we were served our meal my son did not receive his until we were almost done. An apology was made by the server, but meal should have been complimentary for my son.
The Friday pork chop special is fantastic. We were there with family from out of town the day after Thanksgiving. We had three separate checks and each of them had a $7.95 charge for water. My husband and I have been there a couple of times before and were not charged for water. No one asked if we wanted any specific kind of water so I'm not sure why everyone was charged for it.
