Perry's Steakhouse & Grille - Champions Ratings and Reviews
Service was pretty bad but they were crowded so I understand it being a little off. Had to ask for drink refills and they didn’t bring steak knives. Food was okay... we got the Chateaubriand and I guess they were training so they took forever (seriously like 10 minutes) to slice the steak and then didn’t explain the different sauces or anything until the waiter came by later... the bread pudding dessert had obviously been refrigerated and was only hot on the outside and cold in the center. Escargot was good for an appetizer though. Overall, just not worth the money. This was our first time visiting and will probably opt for Del Friscos or something in the future. Even Texas Roadhouse has comparable food and better service!
Starting from entering the door, seating at our table, our excellent waitress, the dinner well prepared and tasty, the manager asking us were we enjoying ourselves and even upon leaving we were made to feel special. We will tell others about Perry’s and will come again soon.
We have been going to the Perry's on I-10 for years and it has a great atmosphere but the Champion Restr. has no atmosphere. The waitress was forgetful and slow and the quality of food did not match the price. It was an extremely disappointing evening in a restaurant we have always enjoyed in the past.
We love to go to the happy hour in Bar 79 with friends. The food and wine and cocktails are very good and the happy hour prices are great. We have been many times with little or no complaints. The food and drink and ambience were all up to standards this visit, but the service was very slow. They were not super busy, but they must have been very under-staffed. Our waitress was great, very friendly and helpful, but it took forever for our drinks to come, and when a manager came by we mentioned it to him and he took care of it, but if he had not come by we were ready to leave. I am hoping this is a one-time occurrence. By the way, this was not the Champions location but the Cinco Ranch location. We made reservations through OpenTable but the hostess said there were no reservations.
Very disappointing dinner. 3 women having dinner at the Perry's on Cypresswood. One steak (Filet) was so tough (cooked medium rare) it had to be sent back. The staff and manager did take care of this and the second steak was better. The other 2 ordered a fish dish. The steak came with sides as stated on the menu. Nothing was stated about the fish, so we ordered 2 sides. The waitress did not let us know that our food came with anything. WAY too much food! One of the sides we ordered was carrots. They were tasty, but huge chunks of carrots. Not very pretty and hard to cut and eat. We were very disappointed in the restaurant. The Woodland's Perry's is soooo much better every time we go. I doubt I will go back to the Perry's on Cypresswood. Disappointed.
Another great visit to Perry's. The food is always delicious and the service is very attentive. I love their non- alcoholic beverages! So refreshing. The pork chop is AMAZING! Nothing like it anywhere I have been before and I love to try new places and eat!
We normally enjoy or dinners at Perry's. It has been redone since the hurricane and has lost a lot of it's ambiance.
The service was disappointing for a steakhouse of this caliber. One person in our party had to send his steak back because it was cooked well done and he ordered it medium. By the time the new steak was brought to the table everyone else had finished theirs.
Luckily, there are many options for steak in Houston, the manager did not seem to care so we will frequent other options.
As out of towners we took our chances but it was worth the drive. Especially amazing was their impressive recovery from Hurricane Harvey damage. The waitress and manager, who stopped by to check in us, were delightful. The meal and whole experience were terrific.
The entire experience was pleasant. The only complaint is that my entree did not come out at the same time as my fiancé’s therefore he was halfway through his meal while I sat waiting for mine. The server did apologize for the inconvenience but the manager did not.
We love Perry’s and choose to spend many evenings in the bar. However Saturday our service was below par. Our drinks took forever, our appetizers were wrong, our server seemed to be struggling from start to finish which isn’t the norm for Perry’s. Not to mention we made reservations for a 40th bday in the bar area so we could enjoy the music (which was great!). After confirming reservations online and on the phone earlier in the week, we were informed upon arrival that reservations were not taken in the bar. We have reserved tables many times in the bar and this was not mentioned earlier in the week plus..there were reserved signs on 2 tables. We of course will be back but we hope normal Perry’s service will be back.
Unremarkable, overpriced food in a nice atmosphere about sums it up. Nice for business presentations where someone else is picking up the tab. Food really disappointing. ‘Table’ sides of broccoli and mashed potatoes totally insipid. Sherried mushrooms were nice. Surf and turf special had a nicely prepared small filet mignon, with maybe (a stretch here) 1 tbsp of lobster meat sitting on top. The portions were downright comical for the price. With all the great food in Houston, pass on this ‘fine dining’ experience.
My husband and I have gone to Perry's at Champions for years, despite moving out further West.
However, we went on November 8th for my birthday and overall, the night was dreadful!
Since they took the booths out of the bar there's nothing to break the noise level and although we sat opposite each other it was hard to hear each other speak!
The tables are far too close together in their effort to 'cram' more people in ....
The waitress was very 'touchy-feely' and in this day and age, she really should learn not to be so 'familiar'. My husband, who is the epitome of a gentleman, felt somewhat uncomfortable with it, but he let it go rather than embarrass the young lady.
Our starters of crab cakes and onion soup were tasty enough.
We both ordered steaks which were 'alright' but, the Lyonnaise potatoes were cold, so they offered us Au Gratin in place of them. This turned Into a game of 'hunt the potato', the dish was just a pool of cheesey sauce!
I don't know what the spinach was supposed to have been seasoned with but it tasted nothing like a creamed spinach to us - so we left it"
The wines were fine ....
Overall, the whole night turned out to be hugely disappointing for us after having looked forward to it as much as we had.
We both feel that a meal is only expensive if you don't enjoy it so on November 8th, at $200, our meal was very expensive!
Based on that evening, I could no longer recommend Perrys to friends. So sad.
My wife and I have begun going to this Perry's Steakhouse and Grill for our anniversary dinner several years ago and have really enjoyed it each time.
The ambiance is excellence and they have never failed to provide a fine dining experience with both excellent food and outstanding service. This year, they were aware of our anniversary and provided the table with red rose petals added even though I did not tell them in advance of the occasion for our visit.
We will definitely be returning and will be telling our friends and family about this excellent place to dine.
