Perry's Steakhouse & Grille - Champions Ratings and Reviews
Another great visit to Perry's. The food is always delicious and the service is very attentive. I love their non- alcoholic beverages! So refreshing. The pork chop is AMAZING! Nothing like it anywhere I have been before and I love to try new places and eat!
We normally enjoy or dinners at Perry's. It has been redone since the hurricane and has lost a lot of it's ambiance.
The service was disappointing for a steakhouse of this caliber. One person in our party had to send his steak back because it was cooked well done and he ordered it medium. By the time the new steak was brought to the table everyone else had finished theirs.
Luckily, there are many options for steak in Houston, the manager did not seem to care so we will frequent other options.
As out of towners we took our chances but it was worth the drive. Especially amazing was their impressive recovery from Hurricane Harvey damage. The waitress and manager, who stopped by to check in us, were delightful. The meal and whole experience were terrific.
The entire experience was pleasant. The only complaint is that my entree did not come out at the same time as my fiancé’s therefore he was halfway through his meal while I sat waiting for mine. The server did apologize for the inconvenience but the manager did not.
We love Perry’s and choose to spend many evenings in the bar. However Saturday our service was below par. Our drinks took forever, our appetizers were wrong, our server seemed to be struggling from start to finish which isn’t the norm for Perry’s. Not to mention we made reservations for a 40th bday in the bar area so we could enjoy the music (which was great!). After confirming reservations online and on the phone earlier in the week, we were informed upon arrival that reservations were not taken in the bar. We have reserved tables many times in the bar and this was not mentioned earlier in the week plus..there were reserved signs on 2 tables. We of course will be back but we hope normal Perry’s service will be back.
Unremarkable, overpriced food in a nice atmosphere about sums it up. Nice for business presentations where someone else is picking up the tab. Food really disappointing. ‘Table’ sides of broccoli and mashed potatoes totally insipid. Sherried mushrooms were nice. Surf and turf special had a nicely prepared small filet mignon, with maybe (a stretch here) 1 tbsp of lobster meat sitting on top. The portions were downright comical for the price. With all the great food in Houston, pass on this ‘fine dining’ experience.
My wife and I have begun going to this Perry's Steakhouse and Grill for our anniversary dinner several years ago and have really enjoyed it each time.
The ambiance is excellence and they have never failed to provide a fine dining experience with both excellent food and outstanding service. This year, they were aware of our anniversary and provided the table with red rose petals added even though I did not tell them in advance of the occasion for our visit.
We will definitely be returning and will be telling our friends and family about this excellent place to dine.
Perry's Champions is still a little rough around the edges after Harvey flooding as far as decor. There are temporary square carpet pieces for flooring right now and no buffer wine walls to help with the noise from the bar and the chairs have been borrowed from other Perry's. Still it is clean and nice and the staff is energetic and friendly. Food was delicious as usual and Perry's Champions is absolutely still the best restaurant on the Champions side of town. They are scheduled to finish all of the refurbishing in January and from what was described to be done it will look amazing. I am glad they are open for business and still creating delicious food!
The hosts were attentive and quick. The wait staff were accommodating, attentive and quick. The oysters were extremely fresh and the food was excellent. The ambiance was inviting and personal. Lighting and music was nice. Dining area was quiet so you could have a decent conversation. Always like coming to Perry's and would recommend.
We choose Perry's because we wanted to support local businesses after the flood. They worked hard to get open and serve the community. It was also our 25th wedding anniversary and the entire staff wished us a happy anniversary and proved a complimentary dessert tasting. I would HIGHLY recommend Perry's for ANY occasion including just having a nice meal out.
Since their remodel due to flooding the place is just way too loud (and that was just the lunch crowd)-would hate too hear the dinner crowd. Was very hard to have a one on one conversation. Very disappointed in that area.
Food & service was fantastic as always.
Essentially the restaurant is (post-Harvey) in two main rooms, with those sitting in the room with the bar not really noticed by those in the other room. The lighting is low, but sufficient. We went early, and it was quite quiet, but I would not expect it to be noisy if it were full. The food is not inexpensive, but it was delicious - we got what we paid for. There is a good selection, but not overwhelming numbers of entries. The wine list fits the ambiance of the restaurant. The wines that we purchased were indeed good. So Perry's is the place for that special occasion, or for that business dinner with the boss or the client used to good food and drink. It will not disappoint.
I've already submitted a review for this visit, but I'll go ahead and follow up. Everything about the experience was up to the standards my girlfriend and I have come to expect from Perry's. Everything except the steak. Our server- Michael, who did a great job- recommended the 10 ounce Wagyu filet. Thus we ordered it rare-plus to split between us on his suggestion. I'm sure it was Wagyu beef, but it came out more like "Way-out-west, tumbleweed-fed Texas free-range longhorn." It was cooked to the requested temperature but was rather tough and contained quite a bit of gristle compared to other filets we've eaten at Perry's. We joked that it should pair perfectly with a canteen of lukewarm water. Anyway, again, we enjoyed everything about the experience except the steak. We've been dining at Perry's for years. As a matter of fact I took three of my employees to the one in Baybrook a few weeks ago. None had been to Perry's before and to a man they all proclaimed the steak to be phenomenal. We just chalked it up to a bad cut of steak. We will definitely be back. However, next time if we get a tough, gristly piece of steak, we're going to send IT back.
