Perla's Seafood and Oyster Bar
Perla's has Austin’s prettiest oak-shaded patio and a comfortable airy dining room featuring a huge saltwater fishtank, poured concrete oyster bar and open kitchen.
What Insiders Are Saying
Perla’s is the best upscale seafood experience you can have in Austin.
I took my parents here for Sunday lunch. We were able to get a last minute reservation on OpenTable which was surprising since evening reservations for the weekend were gone a week in advance. The meals were good and the ambiance was lovely. The patio is a great place to day drink and watch tourists but they don’t take reservations. We had swordfish, crab egg Benedict and the steak ranchero. The flavors were delicious and I think we finished each plate. Definitely not a cheap date if getting drinks & appetizers.
We were there on a weekday, 2pm lunch. Fish was delicious. However, salads, scallops and hush puppies were so salty that 3 hours later, we were still tasting the salt. The wait staff was mediocre in their service. Although the restaurant was half empty, getting their attention was difficult. We ate inside, although the street side terrace area looked lovely. The dessert (Pavlova) was divine. Will we go again? Likely not.
Everything was very enjoyable. My dad, my sister, and I were able to have a long meal indoors that allowed us to really enjoy all the oysters we ordered and our time we had carved out to be with one another. The three of us appreciate Perla's and our server's hospitality and attentiveness. We came last year for my birthday and we came again this year for my birthday. Great oysters are a rare treat in these parts. Good for those special, once a year occasions for sure, or for those more regular oyster-laden outings if that suits your fancy.
Patio is wonderful, food was great!
Perla’s is the best! My favorite place in Austin no matter the occasion.
Food was great!! Two separate times the staff tried taking away our plates while they still had food on them..it was a little awkward.
Not the friendliest
Foods and deck are great could use a better choice of music.
We have a love/hate relationship with this restaurant:
Love: Fresh oysters, Grilled Redfish on the halfshell is amazing, lobster fried rice is so good.
HATE: We consistently receive HORRIBLE SERVICE. As in really really bad. Our last 3 visits over the past 18 months have been marred by 3 different horrendous servers. Inexplicable long waits for drinks. Disappearing for very long times during the meal. Never checking up after delivery (finally) of food. Overall lack of attentiveness considering the price point of this restaurant. Austin has waaaay too many other excellent choices for an expensive meal to have to deal with terrible terrible service. And this seems to be par for the course at Perla's. Sad to say we will not likely be returning. We will be watching reviews going forward to see if the horrible service is something that management will be able to correct.
I love going to Perla's. I recently had some friends visit from the U.K. We hadn't seen each other in ages and they needed a gluten free menu. They also wanted seafood. I immediately thought of Perla's. We had such a lovely time catching up. The food was outstanding. I just love their simply grilled redfish. We couldn't have asked for a better evening.
The food, drinks, and service are always excellent. It’s our traditional place to celebrate Mother’s Day.
Great meal, oysters were fantastic. Services was great and everyone loved it!
Great service good food. Enjoyed outside setting.
Wonderful as usual. Made a nice mother’s da
Our server was good, and the first course was decent. However, when our main course came out all four people in our party were disappointed. We had 4 different meals and no one liked their food. The restaurant did not live up to its reputation and was overpriced for what was served.
LOVE this place! Best oysters, shrimp cocktail, & grilled octopus. Salads are great too! Table & bar are impeccable & timely. Great for any occasion.
Great energy and delicious food. I was visiting from New York, Perla’s came highly recommended and did not disappoint.
From service to the actual food, everything was fantastic. Wonderful for groups, family and even kids are welcome. The fries are addictive and the lobster beny is so good.
Best mussels I’ve ever had!
Fab. Loved it.
Getting together with olde college friends.
Our server was very knowledgeable about all aspects of the courses. Amazing food. Great vibes. Slightly pricey.
It’s a real bummer because the food and drinks are amazing and service is pretty good too. The host/hostess experience is horrible. For the caliber of restaurant this is, I would expect the welcoming committee to be warm, welcoming, helpful, etc. instead, I was highly disappointed with this part of the experience. We had reservations for 3 and when 1 person was going to be late, they refused to seat us despite the restaurant being less than 25% full. “New restaurant policy” to seat once the entire party arrives. I fully understand this with a busy restaurant but you should really make an exception when most of the tables are empty. We were then ignored upon leaving by the same 2 hostesses.
Perlas is usually one of my first pics to go for lunch or dinner, but after this experience, it will be one of my last.
Love the atmosphere, the quality of food and the service.
It would have been perfect if we were seated outside especially the weather was so perfect 👌 but we still enjoyed it after all!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Fabulous Easter brunch!
We had an excellent waiter and the food was delicious !
The food was fabulous, but it took over an hour to get our food after ordering. And the hostesses are unpleasant to say the least. Would have given it a 5 if they can fix those 2 issues.
The experience was wonderful,as always! Food and cocktails were delicious. Bobbie, our server, was awesome!
My server Molly was wonderful. Great details on the service
Went for a Birthday dinner- excellent service & food! Enjoyed our first time there!!
Fresh, well executed seafood in a cozy and elegantly understated environment. Attentive and thoughtful service. If you're looking for your seafood fix in landlocked Austin, Perla's should be at the top of your list.
Perla's never disappoints. Our service was smooth and the food was fantastic. My scallops and risotto were delicious, and cooked perfectly. My husband's hamachi was also perfectly grilled. Our guests loved the crispy snapper and the clam chowder too. Although almost completely full, the noise level was reasonable and didn't interfere with conversation. We'll keep coming back for the great food, excellent service, and the beautiful space.
Wonderful fresh seafood deliciously prepared. Impeccable service.
Great oysters but very pricey. Not sure I’d indulge at $4-5 an oyster.
Ceviche ok but have had better. The swordfish appetizer was good, but also pricey. Fries were crisp and yummy. Baked cauliflower good and fair price.
Lovely day and deck nice, but street noise can be loud and several barking dogs - cute but can get annoying
Service was good but slow. I think it was timing as dinner service just starting and all hit at once?
Inside bar I’ll try next time. Saving up for that.
Fantastic experience! All around amazing place. Definitely a favorite!
My wife and I brought our puppy to eat on the front porch for Saturday brunch, and we had an excellent experience. The shrimp and grits and crab florentine were delicious. The service was very good, and everyone seemed to enjoy our puppy. One of the servers brought water to our puppy as soon as we sat down. I highly recommend Perla’s.
Perla’s is quickly becoming our favorite restaurant in Austin. The food is superb and so fresh. Travis waited on us this visit and he was awesome. He made great suggestions and all were fantastic. We ❤️Perla’s
Great ambiance if you sit putside . Tiny portions
