Perla's Seafood and Oyster Bar
Perla's has Austin’s prettiest oak-shaded patio and a comfortable airy dining room featuring a huge saltwater fishtank, poured concrete oyster bar and open kitchen.
We love this place for seafood and have come many times, but this time I tried the steak and it was also terrific!
We are from out of town and decided to try out Perla's. We showed up to an earlier dining time so there weren't many people. The food was delicious and atmosphere wonderful.
No kitchen in Austin does a better job with all kinds of seafood than Perlas. From oysters to redfish to lobster our group enjoyed another memorable meal that keeps bringing us back time and again
Great spot for dinner -- we were inside, would love to go back when it's warmer and dine on the patio!
Wonderful ambiance for a special family meal. Our first at Perlas. Our waiter was attentive and he was very responsive to our questions about our dining options.
I can’t put my finger on though this last time at Perla’s was a very “okay” experience. Food was good as usual though my mother found an excessive amount of shells in her crab Florentine. The steak ranchero was good though there was a bit too much of the sauce. There was nothing bad about the service though also nothing noteworthy.
I can sum it up as this, other than the company, the highlight of my experience was staring at the fish in the tank at the front.
Loved the variety of oysters. Tuna Tostadas are amazing. Waiter was very knowledgeable with the menu options.
Had a wonderful Christmas Eve dinner. Great staff, tasty food and drinks, and perfect ambience. Will be back!
Had a wonderful 30th birthday party!
Perlas is a great location and unique menu. I think they try a little too hard and can be a bit more simple with their dishes. I would say lunch is a bit expensive for portion and quality.
Everything from the first impression of the beautifully lit huge oak trees and inviting giant patio with great music, excellent drinks, creative menu to the amazing food make this a place I would frequent if I lived here! Will return anytime I’m in Austin.
Went to Perla's for my graduation dinner with my parents. My dad said that the scallops were excellent! I had the filet and it was very good. The lobster mac and cheese and oysters were my favorite part of the meal. Our waitress was very nice, and the restaurant is in a great location!
One of the best meals I have had in years. Everything was delicious.
The service was slow - we were in a booth tucked away, which was nice because it was quite. However, there were so many gnats and they were all sitting on the fabric on the booth which was gross and unappetizing.
Great vibe and delicious food. Our waitress was
Helpful and efficient.
SO good! As always. Food was great, service was great- couldn't have been better!
Absurdly expensive for the quality of the food and the service was mediocre.
We celebrated our daughter’s 24th birthday at Perla’s and everything was great! The service, the food and drinks, and a surprise birthday dessert on top of that. The night was special and fun! We highly recommend Perla’s for special occasions or anytime.
Great location and ambience, good seafood and coctails. Unique in Austin
If you have read any of my past reviews of Perlas then you know this is my favorite restaurant in Austin. Yesterday’s meal was no exception.
The Ahi tostados were awesome, a definite must try. My date and I ordered the same meal. We both had the Texas Red Fish. It tasted great, except I felt mine was slightly undercooked. My dates was more firm and white in color. We split the Brussel Sprouts, yum!
Now the negative. By the time I got home my stomach was in knots. I had nausea and other issues. My date had none.
I believe the Red Fish had some bacteria, that was not destroyed as the fish was under cooked. I tell you this so that if you order any fish that is going to be cooked, make sure it is cooked throughly.
This incident will not diminish my love for Perlas, it will serve as a reminder to me get any non-sushi grade fish cooked throughly.
We really enjoyed our dinner at Perla's. The food, drinks and service were all great. Would definitely recommend dining here.
Not enjoyable. Especially for the price point.
Absolutely loved our experience, food, drinks, everything was spot on. Their indoor and outdoor seating is great and you can hear each other :-) I'm a fan!
Great choice - had the ahi appetizer as a main course, just perfect. Love the ambience on the patio.
The food was fresh and well prepared. The waiter was attentive and his recommendations were on point.
The main course came in 5 minutes, too fast. It took forever to get dessert and the check, spotty service.
Always great seafood.
Everything was excellent
Food over seasoned.
We were very happy that the Hostess seated us. Austin traffic is Not Very pleasant. Parking is hard to find BUT Perla’s offers validated Parking behind the Restaurant. Great added value for us. Food was not as impressive as our previous visits. We are not particularly a big fan of Brunch Menu’s. So in the future, don’t expect the ever so wonderful Dinner Menu. We will be back for some Bouillabaisse!!!
I had the Bouillabaisse and loved it... and I loved everything about this place. (My husband didn’t love anything, but his taste buds must be broken). The Noodles with cheese and lobster were good. There’s a lot of relatively thick cheese in this dish which I didn’t mind. The Bouillabaisse has a fairly transparent broth that is very flavorful and they don’t skimp on the seafood in this. The only thing I didn’t like was that I had to cut the heads off the 2 large shrimp that adorned the top when it was presented. What I really loved in general was that my husband’s food came with 2 very spectacular sauces. He’s not a suce guy so I ate both of them. One was a tasty green basil sauce. One was red, but I couldn’t pin point what it was made of. I’d love to go back to Perla’s. I also liked the atmosphere. I didn’t feel the tables were too close together so even tho it was crowded, not uncomfortably so. Can’t wait to go again!
Great server, Jessie
Ask to NOT be seated in small section near the kitchen/bathroom. Clouded the experience. Food delicious. A bit over-priced, is specially given the portions (which were actually perfect for me, but probably not for those that like typical, American portions).
It was great. We didn’t get the best service though. Not very attentive and they just took plates away without asking if we were done.
Amazingly they were completely out of ALL Sauvignon Blanc. Also all their lobster dishes and sea bass at 7:30 on a Sunday
Food was great. Hostess was rude however the waitress recovered our initial experience.
First time to Perla's, had a wonderful waiter and the food was amazing!!!
Great server, excellent food, friendly, upbeat atmosphere. Love coming here when I visit Austin!
The food is unimpressive, it is very salty spicy, serving size is tiny and nothing spectacular especially for the price they charge for it. Service is very poor. Definitely would not recommend this place.
