Perla's Seafood and Oyster Bar
Perla's has Austin’s prettiest oak-shaded patio and a comfortable airy dining room featuring a huge saltwater fishtank, poured concrete oyster bar and open kitchen.
What Insiders Are Saying
Perla’s is the best upscale seafood experience you can have in Austin.
Food is good, but service is ridiculously slow. I went early for lunch, dining room was maybe 1/3 full, and had to wait 45 minutes for my main dish.
Food very good and consistent. Enjoy coming on special occasions.
Very happy with the food and service. I was able to revise reservation through Open Table.
I love this restaurant. I had never had lunch on Sunday at this restaurant. I was unaware of the menu change. Many of the dishes that I drive to Perla’s to experience are not served during this time of day.
One of the dishes were Brussel Sprouts. A staple on the evening menus. After asking for two dishes prior to looking at the menu my waitress felt so bad that she was unable to provide the dishes that I had come there to experience; she suggested that she might be able to get the chef to make the brussels sprouts. I watch her as she approach the cook/chef and he refused her request even though it appeared she pleaded. She came back to the table and sadly told me of the cooks decision, I told her I appreciated her efforts. For some reason, I was embarrassed in front of my date. Probably, because I had brag so much about the restaurant.
I ordered a redfish on a half shell for a cost of $36. For that amount of money I received 3 to 4 ounces of fish and a vegetable. While it was tasty, it was not a fair portion. I don’t know how many times I have eaten at Perla‘s, it is unfortunate that they had an off day, at least in my opinion.
Delicious red fish in a shell. Baked oysters. Very nice server.
Our favorite seafood place (a friend with us this time said she could eat here 3 meals a day!). Not the cheapest but certainly reasonable in price, and the food is always excellent.
Three weeks ago we had the wonderful oyster, slaw appetizer plates and Yukon griddle cakes and loved all of them. We ordered the same thing on Sunday and the oysters were great but the slaw was too wet and salty. The Yukon griddle cakes were very wet and falling apart, so we were disappointed. Additionally, the noise level was exceptionally loud and very annoying. We could not hear each other over the din.
I did ask our waiter if he could ask to have the volume turned down and he agreed. The next song was then slightly lower in volume but after that it right back up. Our server was Garret and our reservation time was 5:30.
Perla’s is my all time favorite restaurant in Austin! They have the freshest seafood, best oysters, and most flavorful dishes overall.
Fantastic experience. Far better than Cafe Blue. If you want to sit inside, get your reservation early! More seating outdoors that doesn’t require reservation but only if you want to sit under “misters” in the heat!
Great food, service and cool ambiance. Try the lobster roll. As good as you’ll get in Maine or Martha’s Vineyard!
Not our first time here, but probably the best meal we've had all around. Exceptional seafood plateau, delicious entrees, and good, well-priced Champagne selection.
Oysters are amazing, service was also incredible, definitely would return
Visiting Austin from Dallas. This is my must visit place whenever I come visit.
Went early. Happy Hour was in full swing. Tables outside and chairs at the bar taken. Waited a few minutes and got a seat. Drinks came quick. Bartenders really know what they are doing. Able to serve lots of people. Got seated for food. The traditional shrimp cocktail was outstanding. The shrimp was cooked perfectly and I loved the crackers they served. Other items we ordered- grilled oysters and Mac-cheese was very good. Yes, I would return. The waitstaff was right on point. One person made sure we had plenty of water. Very attentive.
Always a great time at Perla’s. Delicious food, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Good wine list too! Excellent selection of oysters. Love PEI! And the mussels are delicious. Charming decor and staff uniforms harken back to trips to The Cape in my youth.
If you like Clark's, you'll love Perla's. The menu makes it hard to choose because it all sounds delicious. Wood grilled oysters, fish and veggies are outstanding. Our party had a variety off the menu and everyone was happy. Frozen painkiller is a must as is the butterscotch pot du creme.
Always a delight! The staff at the bar are so friendly and take such good care of their regulars.
Great food. Great drinks. Love it.
I would recommend this place but warn them not to go starving and expect to be there for 2 hours. We received super slow service from Rachael and we ordered 2 dozen oysters and ceviche with drinks and there for an hour and forty-five minutes. Really enjoyed the food. Celebrated a birthday and the hostess was suppose to rely to server, but it didn’t happen.
Great restaurant and awesome seafood selection. Oysters were fresh snd fantastic. Highly recommended.
Perla's always provides for a wonderful evening of fine dining and beverages....
Food wad delicious. Server seemed a bit annoyed by us, not sure why as we were a group of 4 business women on work travel (read expense account) on a Tuesday night...no better tip to be found. Despite the attitude, she brought us everything we requested/needed and our enjoyment was not significantly diminished.
Great seafood and service was spot on. Will be coming back for sure.
Excellent food! Fresh and creative. Had a great and patient food server. Perla is one of our favs.
Every other food items we ordered was great. Oysters -excellent, shrimp Cobb forgot bacon-meh, scallop posole-excellent, fish n chips-meh. Hadn’t been there in awhile, so was a nice change and will defiantly go back for certain menu items.
I had a phenomenal time with my family! This is an amazing SOCO staple! Love the old school flat bed out front and the magnificent live oak in the middle of the patio! Our Server Rachel was so prompt on the refill or if we needed anything else.
Fresh food and great service! Fun atmosphere; the hostess was very flexible in giving me a non-Smokey table towards the windows. Waitress recommended great bottle of wine, priced reasonable and a wonderful entree of red snapper!
This is the place to go, raw oysters are awesome. Everything here is perfect, we always come when we go to Austin. Drinks are excellent, food, and the atmosphere is perfect. The staff is always friendly and very helpful.
Great food and atmosphere. Been coming for years.
Expensive for the food.lllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll
We keep coming back to this restaurant and never have been a disappointment! Great food and service. Keep up the good work!
The food was AMAZING!!! BEST ANNIVERSARY DINNER! If you love seafood you got it, if you love mix drinks you got it, if you love awesome service its all here! Our waiter helped us through the menu and gave us the best options in our course of dinner.
My favorite restaurant on the planet!
Food was great as always- although fresh fish portions small. Waitress started rushing us out at 1 hour and 15 min mark. Brought the check before offering the dessert menu. Service not in line with other high quality restaurants.
Great spot with great service. I always look forward to having dinner here when I visit Austin.
I really enjoyed the Kumamoto oysters, very delicious as an app. The Nova Scotia Lobster Bucatini was out of this world amazing, best dish on the menu.
Our server was terrible. It took her forever to greet us. Then she forgot one of our appetizers. She clearly pushed back our entrees so it took over 45 minutes to get our main course. Even paying the bill took forever. Very disappointing
Music too loud.
Will definitely return
Excellent fresh seafood and outstanding service (thanks Billie!). We celebrated our anniversary at Perla's and had a very nice experience.
Drinks and dinner were excellent, as usual. My son had the snapper collar and said it was the best fish he had ever eaten. Fried okra was an amazing appetizer. My redfish on half shell was superb. And, our every-visit dessert, the salted caramel pot de cremé, was amazing.
