We LOVED the food and the place was so cute! We would definitely go back. A little pricey but everything we ate was delicious. Bread was amazing!
Very good food but service was kinda lacking for a very slow early Sat night with one other guest. My uncle repeatedly had to flag down the waitress to add other menu items and pay the bill even though we were here for a birthday. I would still recommend restaurant however as the food was great.
Great food solid service. We came with our 7 month old son for our anniversary and we had a great time. Everything was set according to our request and the food came out hot and delicious. They even threw in an extra special surprise for our anniversary.
I would definitely recommend this place for unique dates and connecting with small to mid sized groups of friends and family.
Excellent combination of flavors and well prepared food. The menu was varied and all dishes worthy of tasting. Very impressed with the cuisine and service. Highly recommended
amazing, traditional Filipino food in a modern setting, eaten in a traditional manner (for kamayan nights, at least). as a Filipina, i grew up eating this same kind of food, and i was amazed at how perfectly the flavors and experience of my childhood were replicated. honestly one of the best and most abudant meals you can get in Philly, at a decent price, and perfect to share with friends or a loved one.
Food took too long to be served. Food was not that great . The temperature control was not great and near the kitchen a fan blows on the customers.
We went on Wednesday for Kamayan which is their family style night. The food was excellent! Only negative was I wished the server did full understanding of what Kamayan was and a better explanation of everything we were eating. Otherwise I had a great time!
The place is really small so if you have a big reservation then you might have wait a bit. As we sat down and the waitress/hostess serve us water, bam there was a dead fly in my cup. She didn’t even see it till i ask her to exchange my glass. The food was good. The rice and stir fry vegetables was good. The fish was fried to a good crisp also the pork belly. The chicken was a bit over fried so some part was dry. The only other thing that got me gross out was when we were packing our leftovers I found a long strand of hair. I was trying not to freak out. So I end up taking the leftovers and trash it out at home.
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed every bite that we were served! The food is amazing and the service is outstanding. We will definitely be back! Absolutely loved Perla!
Prix fixe Kamayan family style menu is a fun experience best suited towards those who aren’t too self conscious. Everything was pretty delicious including the starter pan de sel little bun. Other favourites included the garlic rice, the crispy fried pork belly, the sauce on the vegetables (so good, no idea what was in it!), also the chocolate coconut panna cotta dessert. Consider getting at least one set of silverware to filet the fish. Service was helpful and attentive, and we appreciated that the chef came out to drop off the food.
Amazing food. Slow service...so just sit back and enjoy!
Wednesday & Sundays Kamayan are my favorite! Thank you again for an incredible meal.
My second time doing the family style dinner, and it was every bit as amazing as the first time!
Very good food at a reasonable price. Beautiful atmosphere and exceptional service! Place is quite small so it can be very loud.
Second time going and even better then the first. And our first visit was amazing. Love the food and family style experience. Chef was table side just the right amount, which added to the experience. Highly recommend!
A lovely meal with the chef serving us... simply wonderful and an a mazing experience
Overall a great experience. Well prepared dishes and thoughtful, elevated Filipino menu. Friendly staff provided the direction needed to select a few dishes and ensured we were taken care of throughout our dinner.
It was just ok: nothing that great. Actually disappointed as we heard it was great. My meal: Mussels had no flavor at all and fish was definitely over cooked and, though served w nice presentation, didn’t taste flavorful. My husband had the Sisig which was like a runny hash (egg yolk) and the short rib which was good but not awesome.
Amazing as always. Easily one of the best restaurants in the city.
The food was amazing and the front of the house never disappoints. Carlo was amazing as always. I definitely recommend if you want to try something a little different and delicious!!
Food looked beautiful but nothing spectacular taste-wise. Portions very small. $17 for rice was ridiculous--tasted like the sticky rice I make at home. Octopus was fantastic but nothing else wowed our group.
The food was bland and overpriced - being that it was Filipino food, we were expecting it to be flavorful and tasty. My veggie dish tasted boiled with a watery sauce around it. My husband’s meat wasn’t seasoned. The $17 “garlic fried rice” tasted like plain white rice with oil poured over it. The best part about the meal was the bread, which was carefully rationed out lest we enjoyed our meal too much. Service and ambience was excellent, but I would have rather gone to a hole in the wall with crappy service and plastic table clothes but with amazing food for a good price. I was so disappointed, and if I were Filipino, I would have been downright ashamed. #bitternotsorry
Amazing! Food, experience, and service all exceeded our expectations!
Had a gift card so wanted to give it a try. Food was good and very flavorful however expensive and small portions. My mother in law is Filipino and I guess I'm spoiled with her cooking and having an abundance of food . Everything was a la cart, including rice which I found odd especially since this is a must have with Filipino meals. Staff very friendly and I liked the chef coming out to talk to customers. Not sure if I would go back, but would recommend for someone else to experience.
Perla is our favorite restaurant in Philadelphia... and maybe our favorite restaurant of all time. Do yourself a favor and enjoy Kamayan or their regular menu! You won’t be disappointed.
Good experience, very different and there was a lot of food, just a little greasy. Be prepared to eat and enjoy.
Really creative modern Filipino food, that was delicious.
We went for date night - our first time. Best meal we have had in a long time!! Loved the Brussels, pork belly, bone marrow rice, and pinakbet. The rice coconut cake with salted duck egg was amazing!!! Service was great. Our server was very sweet and attentive. The chef/ owner greeted us when we first arrived. It was pretty loud, but not the restaurants fault. Just some loud guests who don't know how to behave.
Incredible kamayan dinner. So unique. Amazing value. Perfectly executed food and service
Generous chef, great food, good fun
Family style dinner is a must have!
The food was okay, our service was terrible. Spent most of the date waiting, asking for basic necessities such as a spoon. Wouldn’t go back, was nothing worth talking about.
We had such a fun time here celebrating an anniversary. The food was amazing, from the garlicky rice to the roast chicken to the brussel sprouts and eggplant in coconut. I enjoyed eating with my hands, and got a wet napkin at the end. The chef chatted with us the whole time and is a really funny, down to earth dude, who seemed genuinely psyched to see everyone enjoying their meals. It was a TON of food - so prepare accordingly!
I really wanted to love this place, but it didn't happen. It was good, but I wasn't blown away. Interesting selection of dishes. A few dishes were outstanding, most were OK. Expected more flavors.
It's a small place, it wasn't full when we were there, but I can see how it can get loud. Not the place for a romantic meal.
My suggestion is to improve the service. Nothing really bad happened. But it was a bit dry. Almost as if she didn't want to be there. No sense of humor. Oh, and our bill was big. So I guess I expected more.
This is 2nd time that We had their kamayan and the first time We really like the food especially for me a Filipino and their big portion that enough for 2. But last Sunday so disappointed that they downsize their portion. For paying $42.00 p/p I just gave the fish to my husband because it’s so small for 2 people and I had the BBQ chicken.
We had a fantastic experience. It was a special dinner for Mother’s Day and it did not disappoint! The food was delicious. Even though they were full with reservations, we did not feel rushed!!
This place. Man, I love it. I take people for the kamayan frequently, and it's worth it, every time. This visit had a boisterous birthday party who were pretty loud for such a small space, but once they left, it was just lovely. The food is just killer. And the chef is warm, welcoming-he makes the place feel like you've been invited into his home. A gem. Truly.
Perla is magic.
We had an incredible time at one of the Sunday family-style dinners. All the food was amazing and the portions were generous. It was a really fun meal.
