PERILLA | korean american fare
Located in River West / Fulton Market area
Top notch from restaurant to service to food. Had family and friends in from
Out of town. They loved it too. Just a fantastic place and love the respect to Michelle Obama. Will definitely be back again.
Screams cultural appropriation. Dishes lacked flavor and strayed from cultural roots. Will not be returning.
Excellent food and a really knowledgeable and friendly waitstaff.
Great food and drinks!
Amazing food, great value, friendly service. Can’t wait to go back!
My husband is Korean and loves good Korean food. Both of our young adult children do as well. We all thought this restaurant was wonderful!! Great food! Amazing service! And very fun hip atmosphere! We will be back!
I like Rib Eye Steak and Skirt Steak, large portion and well marinated. Service was friendly and well educated about Korean cuisine. It could be perfect if they serve stew/soup with grilled meat.
I want to try their patio next time!
Cool environs, prime beef, good apps. What more can you want?
The best Korean barbecue I’ve ever had in my life, boarder line fine dining an amazing experience with great service.
We were a group of 9 and had a terrific dinner at Perilla. Katie, our server, was extremely attentive, explaining all the dishes we were unfamiliar with and giving us great recommendations, as well as preparing the grilled meat for us. Perilla was a wonderful introduction to Korean cuisine for us and we will definitely be back.
The food was fantastic--we had a party of 6 and the server suggested The Feast and it was just the right amount of food for us! Service was excellent and the food was so good!
Really enjoyed our first dinner at Perilla. The food was delicious and portions generous. I can’t wait to go back and try more stuff!
First time having Korean food, great experience! Friendly staff and the food was amazing! There was so much food with the feast package, and it was a great value! I will definitely return, and highly recommend Perilla.
Good vibe. Friendly Service. Good food. Only wish thr meats come out together. By the time the spare ribs came out we were already full.
Nice and fresh food , lots of dishes and good quality meet
As an Asian, I'm always skeptical about a new restaurant, especially with Korean BBQ, and especially if they don't let you cook the meat yourself! However, this place completely blew my mind. The quality of the food, the service and everything about the restaurant was phenomenal! It's also reassuring to hear how the Manager (or Owner) was explaining to the trainee on how to grill the meat and how he was so attentive and carefully cooked for every customer. I could tell that he has a great passion for the restaurant and everything in it. I will definitely go back again, in fact, I'm planning to go back next week. Cannot wait!
We saw a rat outside while eating
Excellent food, and the feast for 2 is more than enough food. In addition to the great food, the service was exceptional. Will visit again when I return to Chicago.
Great food- very authentic and service was good
We really enjoyed our first visit to Perilla. We had the short rib and the shrimp on the grill, and also had Brussel sprouts and kimchi rice. All were very good! The staff was friendly and helpful. Although we did not sit out there, there is an outdoor patio that looked like fun.
Absolutely delicious and great service! Very excited to have an outstanding Korean restaurant in the neighborhood!
By far, worst dining experience in Chicago In quite some time. Will never be back or recommend to others. They do not understand their own business format better. Sat down 50 minutes after reservation and asked to wait on patio since there are only 4 bar seats (what will they do this winter?). 25 minutes for drinks ordered 3 times before correct. Waitress offered complimentary appetizers that seemed to never arrive, but two well level pints of soju arrived(which no one was drinking so it did t really apply). Specifically requested to have check moved to table and that the party of 8 would not be closing out twice. They tried to force us to close and had to bring manager I to conversation before backing down. Ordered fried chicken, dumplings, shishitos to start. Entered included pork belly, marinated short rib, shrimp with Brussel sprouts and mushrooms on the side. Entree sides come out 10 minutes before entree that kind you needed to cook for another 15 minutes on table. AS sides get cold I finally request entrees. I could t quite make out if I was supposed to cook or the server was to, but I seem to ha e got out to work while I watched other servers assist (while my pork belly burned). Did not bring any sauces until requested. One single toilet for men as no one checked the bathroom stall for the 3 hours we were there. No flow to this place and will likely be the 3rd failed restaurant in 4 years. Food was decent and enjoyed dumplings, short rib be scallion pancake. Honestly food wasn’t allowed to show due to poor service and execution.
Overpriced Korean bbq and not very authentic. Seems like they made the flavors more American-friendly like less garlic and less spices.
This restaurant is apparently under new management but former chef still involved. Busy place but well staffed and service was very good. Nice vibe. Wife and I did the $70 dinner for two. Everything was fresh and tasty. The fried veggie dumplings were excellent. Not super spicy. Too much food, even for 2 hearty appetites. Unfortunately the price fixed menu doesn’t offer the pancake, which diners all around us seemed to be really enjoying. The Korean fried chicken was ok; not quite as good as what you get at Bon Chon.
Everything was so delicious, and the service was phenomenal! Thank you so much for providing a great experience for my husband’s 28th birthday!
Waitstaff was fantastic. Food was awesome. Pretty authentic
A must try and a new gem in the neighborhood. There are no decent Korean dining in the city but now we do! They just launched happy hour which I'm excited to enjoy with coworkers. They also have a back patio area to hang and amazing list of creative cocktails that are unique. They also have amazing art all around the building and OMG Michelle OBAMA. A MUST SEE!
Fantastic experience! Food was perfect and the feast was plenty for two. Best Korean BBQ we’ve had in a long time. Will definitely be back!
AMAZING experience overall. Highly recommend! Definitely make a reservation.
We did the tasting menu and we had to ask the staff to slow it down and course it out. Incredible flavors and good portion sizes.
Great food and great service. Highly recommended.
