Exceptional. Cozy and relaxed. The snacks menu is superb, especially the parsnip dip! My husband raved over the fresh, tender gulf shrimp, in a sauce of complex flavors. The waitstaff were genuine, chill, seemed really happy to be working with each other and admired the chef’s creativity as much as we did. We’ve already made another reservation to come back.

Peregrine - The Whitney Hotel BostonResponded on July 27, 2022Jane thank you. I am so glad you loved the parsnip dip and shrimp. We love to be chill and creative, so I'm happy to see that was appreciated. I'm looking forward to perhaps meeting you when you return to Peregrine. - Merissa

The food was terrible. Both tasteless and overly seasoned at the same time. The cocktails were bad as well. Almost no alcohol and not proportioned properly. Much too expensive for what you get.

Peregrine - The Whitney Hotel BostonResponded on July 27, 2022I'm so sorry to hear you had a less-then-ideal experience at Peregrine. Its sounds like quite a few details fell below our standards. Sigh every so often we stop at Peregrine for dinner knowing the food will be an enthusiastic amateur mixup There is a lot of waitstaff but no one seems to know what their role is. Silver that has been used is left for ecological reasons and then removed by the next server. People are constantly coming by and asking if food has been delivered but do not seem to know what food- courses arrive for one person and not another. This time I had what was billed as a seafood paella - the dried out seafood arrived on a bed of salty Israeli couscous- a true paella lover is still wincing about this mishmash, My husband had what was billed as mussels cooked in a light tomato broth- I suppose vaguely Spanish again but the shellfish were very over cooked mussels and clams and the tomato broth lacked both the flavor of the sea and garlic and other herbs all of which made it bland and sad. The appetizers were ok but all misnamed- I have been in Sicily a few times- never saw a Sicilian pizza that was a topping smeared on a flatbread The lowest point though was my husbands order of a petillant natural Italian wine. He was given a half pour from the dregs of a bottle-it was the color of unfiltered apple juice and the bubbles had been gone at least for a day. He complained and was given a full pour from a newer bottle- still a bit odd but at least petillant Everyone is vague, enthusiastic and untrained- they need adult supervision- it will be a while before we try again

Peregrine - The Whitney Hotel BostonResponded on July 14, 2022I am so sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your experience during your Friday night dinner at Peregrine. It sounds like the professionalism, and attention to detail we pride ourselves got missed. I wish I could take that back. I obviously can't. I would love to hear more about your experience and find a way to make it right. We’d love to have you back, when you are ready, and give it our best shot again. Please say hello. -Merissa

Unfortunately, the service was outstanding, and they were awesome with m y dogs being in the back patio but the food was not good. And for the outrageous price of each item and what you get.....nope. Not ever again. And that is too bad because their sister restaurant Juliet is amazing.

Overall we had an okay experience but the service was below satisfactory. I asked for backyard seating and was told it’s all booked. However, it looked pretty open to me while I was there. I’m not sure why we weren’t offered the seating given that I mentioned it in my Open table comment and asked in person. A couple moments after I sat down a waiter came to ask whether I would like to order a drink and appetizers. I told him I was fine at the moment but he kept pushing, “no drinks? No appetizers?” I was a little irritated by that since it should be clear that I was waiting for the rest of my group to arrive- why would I order appetizers then? It was also confusing as to who our server was as several waiters were serving us that night. At one point the hostess came to ask us whether we are ready to order, and after hearing that we needed a few more minutes, she just left without saying anything, which I thought was a little rude. Food-wise, we enjoyed the small plates but the main course was okay for how much they cost.

Excellent restaurant! I took my wife and kid to Peregrine for my wife's birthday. We had an amazing time. The service was excellent. The food was delicious. We love the setting too, in Beacon Hill, in a charming boutique hotel. I particularly love how the restaurant pays their staff a living wage so tipping isn't necessary. The prices seems the same as any other nice restaurant too, so you're actually getting a great value when you factor in not tipping an additional 20% on your bill. They have a great courtyard and patio for outdoor drinks and dining. We've done that in the past, but it was cold when we went so we dined indoors. We'll definitely be back. We love that place!

I really wanted to love Peregrine, but was sadly disappointed. The service was wonderful and the wine was delicious, but we were both underwhelmed by the food. We did like the celery and Catalan bread appetizers, but the chestnuts were very dry and we were not impressed with our mains. I had the paella which left me unimpressed and my friend (who’s birthday it was) only ate part of her pappardelle.
