Food was mediocre to bad and pricey, wine was nice, service was incredibly slow (except for water refill) but very friendly. Seated couples at communal table without warning.
Small, in hotel lobby, food excellent service great.
Great place all around, ambience, service, food. I like that it is better lit and quiet enough to have a real discussion vs in aloud, dark place. Food is outstanding. Some portions are modest but perfect for me. Not so great for someone hungry with a big appetite. Service impeccable. Thank you!
The food here is exceptional, and I can't say enough about the quality of the staff. Each and every person you interact with is superb!
Delicious food in a low key environment. Service was friendly and efficient. The Mediterranean cuisine is creative and very well prepared.
Well worth a detour as the Michelin guide says!
The food and service were very good, although the portions were a bit small. Tip is included in pricing, and there is no room to add an additional tip on the check. We did see a mouse while we were dining a few feet from us, but it's Boston so doesn't surprise me anymore! Would recommend for a quiet and delicious meal.
Food was average and selection limited. Service, wine list and room were very good.
Apart from the shrimp appetizer and their bread/butter, nothing else was edible.
Pasta dish served cold and tasteless, beef and chicken dishes were nothing special, real let down.
Dessert tasted old. They desperately need a decent wine list also... never going back.
Their policy of no tipping is very refreshing. as a result we do not feel rushed and felt the value of the dinner and bottle of wine was excellent. Our server was relaxed, informed and pleasant. Reminded us of European dinners that have a much more relaxed feel around the entire dining experience. The food was excellent.
The food was excellent - interesting and exciting options. The service was great, very friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend for a small group or a couple.
What a lovely venue. Food was delicious. Server attentive
OK. The special chestnut appetizer was really really nice. The tagliatelle with “clams and pork” was not. Too much greasy liquid with small clams, nothing special about them, and tiny tasteless pancetta bits. Pasta was somewhere between light/homemade and grainy.
I was pleasantly surprised at how fabulous the food was. Went for brunch with 4 friends. We all sent compliments to the chef. It was very busy at 12:30 so I recommend reservations for that time.
Great experience. Loved the food and the atmosphere. Our server was fantastic. She clearly loves what she does and made sure we were happy.
Great place. Everything delicious, from wine to appetizers, main course, and dessert. Creative, tasty mix of ingredients. Lovely service, gracious staff. Nice decor. Portions modest but great for us who like to try more things. Inclusive tax/tip makes it easy.
Great service, wonderful lunch. Plan to make it a luncheon place with friends and family going forward.
One of the meals we were served was not what we ordered. One was cold, when it should have been warm. And, there was no consideration given to us for either screw ups. To be fair, the other two meals were quite good
New on the scene in Boston. An absolute gem. Discerning diners need to go here.
Excellent food and service for Christmas lunch! Thanks all
Fantastic- everything that we had to eat was absolutely delicious! Everyone that works here is friendly and knowledgeable. The owners are incredibly thoughtful, and they go over and above to make each meal is special. We can’t wait to go back!
We had a 7pm reservation and were not seated until 7:40. The service felt discombobulated, awkward, and much less professional than the vibe of the restaurant would lead me to expect. My food was fine but over salted. I would not recommend and do not plan to return.
Very nice Sunday brunch in the beautiful Whitney hotel. Easy menu with not too many options but all that seem pleasing. My favorite brunch place in Beacon Hill.
Food was delicious and the staff was so attentive!
We promised we would try again after their disorganized opening and we did. We went for small plates and tapas and had a pleasant experience. They are all made from the heart- some are better than others but none are commercial and their pink cava was great. The restaurants on Charles street seem to be getting less interesting and more commercial so it was a pleasant experience. Don’t know about their actual main courses-the menu hasn’t changed much and they were kind of uneven in August- but go for small plates and drinks snd have a good pre- something else evening as we did.
Small, uninspiring menu. Small portions. Lovely service and a bright welcoming atmosphere. Food is boring...perhaps will get better after a while. I realize the place has not been open very long.
The service was just wonderful. The wine list was also very good
The main course dishes were excellent especially the pastas. The appetizers were uneven. The radishes with butter were terrible. This is one my favorite starters and the radishes should be young and sweet and the butter laced with a large flake salt These radishes were old and tasteless and no evidence of salt
What a disappointment. I dont think I have ever written a BAD review of a Boston restaurant but here I go. First of all, the lighting....the developer has the restaurant lighting on the same switch as the adjacent hotel lobby???!! Need I say more? Harsh lights on Beacon Hill DO NOT WORK! And the lights are all on a timer so no one can dim them even a little bit! Next up, the staff. While all of them were very sweet and pleasant there was not one seasoned professional there (no pun intended). Finally the food: fair at best. We started with warm olives. We all know these can be delicious in warm olive oil...nope, I honestly think these were just microwaved. No olive oil at all. And its hard to mess up a kale Caesar salad but this one was not fresh. I have made enough kale salads to know that when leaves have been massaged with oil the same day the salad is served, or even dressed that same day, the salad is NOT soggy. This only happens after a day or 2. Yep, this salad was soggy kale. Ug. Finally, my steak was just fair. Too bad...love Charles Street and was hoping we could add another good Beacon Hill restaurant to the list but no such luck. One positive, the outside space looks beautiful and when the weather is warm, I bet it would be a lovely spot for a late afternoon glass of wine.
Unique Sardinian/Catalonian cuisine, excellent staff and ambiance. Drinks are top quality, yet are pricey and small in size. We like the genuine tip included policy i.e. some places practice this, but then still give a bill that prompts for 'additional tip'.
Excellent service and great food. Very pleasant dining experience.
Another great meal. Perfect for a morning breakfast meeting.
It is like stepping into a modern European Hotel. The restaurant is right off the lobby. Very comfortable living room like area for drinks, on your table with the bar right in the middle, but you do not feel crowded. Wonderful ambiance. The food is mid sized plates, more than enough. They claim a Sardinian influence. I am not sure what that is … however the food was wonderful! Wines cold and crisp. All around great spot.
Our waiter was amazing. Knowledgable, friendly, and the service was great. We really enjoyed the Sea Urchin pasta and the tomato focaccia. We were not sure what to expect with the restaurant being in the hotel but it was an awesome experience.
Overall, it was a pleasant experience to dine at Peregrine. The ambiance was calm and the dining area was spacious and exquisite. The food was delicious, especially the scones with a layer of cheese in the middle and the scent of rosemary with a hint of mint. Though the scones come alone, eating them with a jab of their jam gave the scones a new wonderful flavor. Service was great and the waiters were extremely friendly.
We live in the neighborhood and decided to try this beautiful new restaurant on a recent Friday night. Wow, the food was incredible, the service was perfection and this will soon become a favorite of ours! It is a lovely place, elegant and casual all at once. They have a “no tipping” concept, which was a first for us. They politely explain it in a written message as you get your bill, and frankly, it is brilliant. They explain that all costs are considered in their pricing. We are thrilled with this new edition to Charles Street !
Food (we had a number of small plates) and service were very good. Nice and reasonable wine selection. The noise level was a bit high for my taste.
Food and service superb
The owners/chef really hit a home run with this new Boston restaurant......I'll be back!!
My friend and I try all the new restaurants in the area. People came in after us and were served their cocktails first. I almost always order Cosmos and this by far came in the tiniest glass I have ever seen! We shared a Caesar kale salad, the only salad on the menu, and it was julienned and very bland. We also shared Paella because we thought it would be ample. It wasn't and the chicken didn't taste like chicken. It was also bland except for the shrimp that was caked in cayenne pepper. The server was lovely and helpful. This is a new restaurant in a hotel. Maybe this is the future and if it is, we will stick to the tried and true.
Love the room and back patio - really not a fan of the fake flowers that are too bright, completely does not gel with the rest of the hotel/restaurant and not to calming to look at. Food was good. Pasta with vongole was flavorful but arrived lukewarm - a pet peeve. Also had to ask for no cheese....seafood pasta really should not be served with cheese. Pork shoulder was also good and flavorful. Did not like the Spanish toast - way, way, way too much garlic. Dessert cookie plate was nice. Wish the menu would expand and food was served hot. Will try again.
Peregrine is a comfortable, small restaurant, new in the Boston area. I took a friend for a birthday dinner; coincidentally, there were at least two other tables celebrating birthdays . The service was fairly attentive and our server was very personable. The food was excellent - fresh ingredients, innovative flavor combinations, and high quality preparation and taste. Prices are not unreasonable for the area. A slight drawback was that due to its small size, we found the restaurant a bit noisy. It was at times hard to hear the server or each other. The food is worth the trip, however.
