The food was good, service was fine. Ambiance is terrible. I’ve been in diners that had more ambiance. Turn the lights down!
Loved the ambiance and the food!! Can’t wait to come back and try brunch
The meal was good, but you ran out of two dishes that we wanted to try!
Hi there! So glad you enjoyed your meal, but sorry to disappoint you on things you had been hoping to try. We are still getting used to our level of business, as we settle in as a new restaurant, and we have had a few days that we ran out of things we would have preferred not to. I hope you'll give us another chance at those dishes you were looking to try, and say hello when you do! -Josh
Great tasting brunch in an elegant setting. Very pleasing service. Highly recommended.
I dined here with a friend on a Thursday evening around 8:30. Our server was extraordinary - friendly; attentive, and knowledgeable. I cannot rate him highly enough . He gave clear and detailed explanations of every dish, steered us towards two outstanding appetizers (grilled octopus and clams casino) and persuaded me away from a Can franc I had my eye on to a delightful Italian blend that was affordable and delicious. Desserts were simple but expertly made. I will definitely cone back.
Yum, the food was super tasty and the ambiance was quite lovely. Service was a little bumpy but it’s early in the lifecycle.
Great experience. Limited menu with many creative twists. Very friendly and attentive service. The non-gratuity approach makes this restaurant more affordable. The room is not large and elegantly designed with very comfy booths. The restaurant iscacrealmwinner and worth every penny. A delightful experience!
Food was great and staff was friendly! It took a long time to get our meals but other than that all was spot on!
With the kinks worked out, Peregrine could be a gem.
Peregrine is in the lobby of a small boutique hotel and apparently due to the space being both restaurant and lobby the lights were VERY bright, think doctor's office lighting. The atmosphere was a bit more casual than we expected ( that's ok if you are not going for a special occasion) and the staff was overly relaxed and extremely familiar but the service was attentive. My husband had a shrimp appetizer, tomato salad and tagliatelle with clams. I had green salad and pappardelle with braised chicken and Brussels sprouts. The food was delicious , wine was very nice, it is reasonably priced, and my husband enjoyed the healthy portion size. I often judge the quality of a restaurant by the salad, Peregrine passed my test with flying colors, the salads were fresh light crisp and well dressed. Overall a very good value for Boston. I will return with more casual clothes (and maybe some sunglasses)!
Peregrine has a no tip philosophy that I found refreshing and the staff were genuinely helpful and not over the top. The food was great and the new hotel very tastefully decorated. I will be going back in the future.
Loved this place the food was terrific and the staff and the owners went out of their way to make sure that we were happy . I always judge a restaurant based on wether they can cook a good roast chicken and on that note they hit it out of the park . The pasta was fantastic and I was super impressed by just how good and affordable the wine list was . Peregrine is a wonderful new addition to the Boston food scene.
We are so excited to have a new restaurant in the neighborhood. The food was good, service was really attentive, and the price was the same as other places nearby. It's brand new, so there's opportunity to tweak, so here are some suggestions: Tighten up the kitchen a bit - nicoise tuna shouldn't be well done; a cheese plate with one slice of hard cheese isn't really a cheese plate; the red sauce with the mussels looks so good but is so bland. Also, I know it's a small bar, but stocking a decent selection of scotch, bourbon, rye, and other drinks seems like table stakes. Spend a little time in the bars at Beacon Hill Bistro and Bin 26 and notice how they create an environment that is essentially Beacon Hill. Then do your own take on it. We're pulling for your success.
Thank you Adam, for visiting, for your excitement, and for passing along feedback to discuss with our team!
This will become my go to neighborhood spot!! The food, service, and interior design get five-stars from me.
The servers were fantastic and the space was beautiful! Would recommend the pasta dishes. This place would be great for a drink.
A fine addition to the neighborhood. Can’t wait to go back!
Lovely new place. It’s very small and the menu is limited. But the room is very nice and our dinners were great.
thank you! -Josh
This restaurant has a nice ambience but the food needs work. Portions are quite small
We are working on everything, and early feedback is very valuable. Thank you! We hope you'll appreciate improvements upon your next visit.
Limited menu and wine list
Three of us had lunch at Peregrine. We loved it. It is visually quite beautiful, the service was nice and the food was good. We ordered all of the appetizers and shared them. The standouts were the omelet with pecorino and crispy breadcrumbs, spicy shrimp with roasted potatoes, and the focaccia with anchovy. We also enjoyed the bread rubbed with tomato and topped with Serrano ham.
I plan to go back next week and try some of the pasta dishes and mains.
Thank you! -Josh
I think give them a month to get their service straightened out - terribly disorganized right now and I will try one more time before giving up on service and food. The food is charitably spotty. I had a first course of garlic shrimp with a take on patatas bravas which was actually great and a creative tapas beginning. My husband had an earnest but ordinary pheasant pate with cleverly cut bread cubes which if made in house was quite special but served with an overwhelming quantity of mustard rather than cornichon. Second courses were both pasta- mine was an obviously hand rolled and hand cut pasta with a very rich chicken broth and shredded chicken and string beans and a dollop of sour cream on top- lots of work and very boring tasting.
My husband had a shredded beef pasta- they apparently apologetically ran out of tagliatelle I think and served it with the thinnest spaghettini the world has ever seen- another strange nursery food concoction with little flavor
Wine list is good- I had a nice cava and the bar scene is good- restaurant is fully in the lobby of the new Whitney Hotel.
I hope it gets its act together- going full tapas would be wonderful.
Hi! Thank you for the detailed feedback. We never want to disappoint but the opportunity to hear so specifically what you liked and didn't is so valuable, just a few weeks into being open especially. You caught us on an unexpectedly busy weekday as we are still working out a lot of the early systems. This was an out of the ordinary day for Peregrine, even so early on, and I hope you'll give us a chance to make it up to you. -Josh
Terrible experience bad food bad service disappointing
I'd like to give the service, menu & food the benefit of the doubt since it just opened, but it's such a small place with a limited menu. How can they be so disorganized? How can there seemingly only be one waitress? The menu choices are questionable. Who snacks on radishes? There were (I think) 3 entrée choices and the addition that day was sea urchin. Always a fan favorite, sea urchin. I've been to Sardinia. How about some grilled fish? The chef is quoted in the Globe as saying that Jamon Serrano is the best ham on earth. Agreed. What they served was not European Serrano. It took upwards of 20-25 minutes to get a drink to start. An article in the Globe highlighted that the chef & beverage mngr were established at another establishment. It didn't feel that way. I've lived a few blocks away for 32 years. I'd love to have Peregrine as an option to meet. But for now, I'll stick to Scampo & Toscano.
Lunch was disappointing after the great dinner reviews. It was nothing special. Very limited entrees offered. Instead, it was more like bar food.
The staff is friendly & really seem to take pride in their work. However, we arrived 5 mins before our reservation...but they didn’t seat us until 15 mins after our reservation. Our server clearly wasn’t very experienced & that unfortunately made for a less than desirable experience. That said, she was very nice. The food wasn’t bad, just bland. The restaurant is beautiful & you can tell it’s a labor of love for the people behind it...just seems like they need some time to work out the kinks. We’ll definitely give it another shot...we’ll just sit at the bar next time.
Soft Opening! Glorious!
thank you so much for joining us, and for taking the time to let us know you enjoyed it :)
Our evening at Peregrine lasted for hours, first at the bar for drinks and then a banquette for dinner. The wine is particularly unique and combined superbly with a number of appetizers, the shrimp and potatoes a particular standout the night we dined. We moved on to sampling multiple different homemade pastas for the main course - we weren't disappointed. Having dined many times at Juliette's, it's clear that Katrina & Mark have lost none of their commanding knowledge and passion for food at their second venture.
We went for a nice summer evening out, delicious creative food, beautiful decor good and great location! We’ll definitely be back soon!
thank you so much for joining us, and for taking the time to let us know you enjoyed it :)
I went in for dinner when they had just opened and was blown away by the ambiance. The space is beautiful and everyone was so nice and welcoming. I wish I had a 6 star option, because I'd use it!
Oh my...thank you so much for these glowing compliments! We are indeed still brand new and settling in here at Peregrine, but trying our hardest to be great from day one. Thank you for taking the time to dine with us, and to lift our spirits!
