First time for us visiting Katrina and Josh’s latest location. Excellent food, drinks, and service, we left feeling very happy and looking forward to visiting again! Nice sheltered patio allows for you to enjoy your meal while watching Beacon Hill go by.
The food was splendid— asparagus cooked to perfection, a grilled cheese which exceeded all expectations, and a very nice salad (albiet with slightly too much dressing). The cookie platter was somewhat subpar, though the pistachio cookies were splendid, and the carrot cake was solid. However, for most people, I would not recommend this restaurant, as the cost of the food was simply exorbitant in most cases. Though tipping is included, the cost of dinner for two was high enough that I would not think to recommend it.
Best meal I have had since COVID began . The food was amazing as was the service . Bravo
Thank you Marci!
it was hard to do a rating by star method. We ate outside on a very cold day but under a heat lamp. the service was great, food was good but perhaps not to my liking, southern menu. My big problem was that I had booked a reservation with Open Table Rewards points for 10,000. I invited a friend and was very embarrassed that the restaurant was not able to honor the 10,000 points that I had activated.
I would not recommend using Open Table points rewards here until the staff learn how to activate those points.
The staff at Peregr
Thank you!
High-quality, fresh ingredients and warm heaters outside. Lucky to have found this gem— would ABSOLUTELY recommend!
Sat outside in courtyard, had lunch. Uninspired food. The chef has created an Italian/southern American menu that makes no sense. Due to Covid food is service in cardboard boxes or trays with plastic silverware. The whole experience except for service was like going to a food court in a mall. The service however was very good! I’ll chalk this up to the pandemic and maybe try again at a later date. It was expensive for the quality of the food however so I’d think twice.
We visited Peregrine this week and had a lovely experience. We are not comfortable eating indoors until we're vaccinated and the staff were quite accommodating with seating us outside. Their outdoor dining tables are shielded from the wind, and along with space heaters, made it possible to comfortably eat outside when the temps were in the 30s. The alcohol selection was robust. My wife got an Italian white that we both loved. They had a small, but unique beer selection. I recall fewer than 10 selections, but their choices were so good there were many options for this picky beer drinker. I got a bacon cheeseburger and it was solid. My wife got the fried chicken sandwich which was also a great pick. We also liked the no tipping approach. This restaurant pays their staff a living wage so the price of the food already incorporates gratuity. What a cool concept! The service was excellent. Our server was knowledgeable and friendly. Our experience was a 10. We will be back for sure!
**Note their covered outdoor seating area would be great on a hot summer day since it would be completely shielded from the sun.
Thank you so much Mikey. We are all working hard to stay safe, AND share great experiences, and we are so happy to hear how much you enjoyed your time.
Always a pleasant dining experience! The shrimp croquettes and the deviled eggs are excellent. Great brunch options too!
Thank you, some of our favorites for the season. Glad you had a great time!
Tasty food and great service! Sitting outside with a heated lamp: worth it!
Thank you Taraa!
The service was unfortunately pretty bad. We were rushed to order and made to feel relatively unwelcome. When we didn’t immediately order food with our drinks (which we intended to), we were reminded rudely that we were required to, even after apologizing and telling the server we just hadn’t had a chance to look at the food menu yet. The server then returned to scold us again saying that there was a 90 minute limit to each reservation (we were at minute ~15 at this point). The food was decent - we had the special (shrimp croquettes), crab toast, the squid ink pasta and chocolate cake for dessert. The squid ink pasta was fantastic, as was the chocolate cake. The crab toast was less flavorful than we had hoped for, but also good. The cocktails were very tasty and wine selection was decent. Given that we spent a decent amount of money for dinner, I was pretty thrown by the service and we won’t be returning.
While the food and service were good, our heater apparently burned out at some point in the meal so we were freezing for most of it until they replaced the heater right before we left. For reference of just how cold it was, I was wearing gloves and my fingers were going numb. We requested to move inside but it was for hotel guests only... Needless to say, this made the meal an unpleasant experience.
Great food with a view of Charles street! Heat lamps kept us cozy. A great wine list and to-go cocktails for when your 90 minutes is up!
Great strategy, 90 minutes, plus a nightcap to open at home. Thank you so much for continuing to support local restaurants through these challenges!
French on the patio with a fire pit to keep us warm was very enjoyable. Very special setting and pleasant even on a mid 40's degree day.
40's in January! We had a few of them. Thank you so much for continuing to support local restaurants even in the winter outdoors!
I booked this reservation through open table for New Years Eve. It prompted me that there was a $25 cancellation fee per person, which was understandable. I called to make sure our reservation was inside dining, and that’s when they told me it was $95 a person. However, it said nothing about the menu being a 4 course dinner at $95 a person, so I assumed it was the standard menu, which I would have had no problem spending $95 a person Our waitress was very pleasant and did a great job explaining everything to us and made great suggestions. The other staff members were also really great, and made us feel welcome. Majority of the food was just okay. None of it had great flavors, and the steak seemed like something I would order at Applebee’s. After drinks and what not, our bill came to $700. For $700, I would have at least liked to enjoy the food. Also, for $700 I would have preferred a better atmosphere. We were basically sitting in a hotel lobby. I will say, the espresso martinis were phenomenal and certainly worth $15 a piece!
Good meal, cocktails and service. Nice outdoor area. Hope to go back again soon.
Consistently excellent food and service, with an interesting menu and excellent drinks. It's always a pleasure to dine there, and outdoor seating during Covid helps too.
I thought the outside dining would be in the lovely courtyard. Instead, we were seated on Charles St with ambulances and fire engines roaring by.
Our waitress acted like she would rather have been anywhere but waiting on table.
Food was delicious, as was the wine. Can’t have it all I guess!
Located inside the Whitney Hotel in Beacon Hill at the start of Charles St in the Peregrine. We were seated outside but the Hotel Lobby is well decorated. The service was great food was delicious. Gratuities are reflected in the menu prices.
Staff were very attentive and we appreciated them giving us some time to finish our drinks after paying the bill.
Tremendous night at Peregrine! Hidden gem that is a must try! Unique menu that transports you for a night away!
Great local restaurant
"I love the relaxed feel of this place – like a comfortable dining room in a friends home. I definitely would return to try more dishes.
Food good but choices expensive and very limited, from the very start (before we even sat down) kept rushing us out the door
The service and ambience were top notch. The food was over seasoned and could have used restraint. Also it’s overpriced, you appear to pay for the service and atmosphere. I’d suggest an upgrade to the very cheap plastic forks and knives in use.
Mixed bag on food - good flavors on 2 of 5 dishes but very small portions at a high price. Chicken special was $35 dollars for what I consider a small plate or appetizer sized portion. Granted service is included in the menu pricing, but it still represents a poor value. Also did like the very high markup for the bottle of rose wine we ordered - a bottle that retails for around $11 cost us $52. This is really discouraging as I want to support local restaurants but just feel so ripped off when ordering wine with a meal.
The menu is somewhat limited but the food was terrific. The prices include gratuity so the overall cost is very reasonable.
The food is delicious, the service is cordial and attentive. It is for foodies, it is on the expensive side, but for our party it was worth it.
We had a superb meal at Peregrine sampling salads, cauliflower, arctic char and mussels. Each dish was unique, interestingly flavored and perfectly prepared. The dining room has a cozy feel, and is just adjacent to the Whitney's small lobby. Service first-rate.
Absolutely sublime, we had a wonderful brunch. The scrambled eggs were super fresh tasting and perfectly prepared. The overnight oats were served with an amazing homemade granola. The space is luxurious and subtle, a very welcoming and well thought out environment. Will definitely return for dinner soon!
Varied menu organic delicious wines. Atmosphere casual. Great bar.
Overall Excellent
Oysters weren’t great (fresh but really really small)
Menu had good variety
Cocktails were perfect
Wines by the glass -limited (but ii sm never impressed)
Excellent service
Will definitely be back
Great ambiance for brunch. Casual but elegant.
We love Peregrine! The server was funny and attentive. She spent time explaining some of the wines we didn’t know. Food was incredible especially the shrimp with garlic and clam tagliatelle. Also the butter pinxtos were the best little bite. See you soon - we love it here!
Over priced food and small portions. They pretend to serve food from Sardinia but there is not food served from over there. They don’t even serve the most important Sardinia wine. Jamon Serano prosciutto (that is not from Sardinia) came sliced too thick and very bad presented. No bread was served or offered until I asked.. and I need to ask twice since they brought a very tiny slice. Finally I got pasta with vongole ... first.... you don’t put any cheese on pasta with fish .... second definitely not the pecorino that is already very salty.... and last the pasta was over cooked and too salty ... from the salt of the boiling water + pecorino.
So I don’t recommend to go to this place at all... and maybe some on line cooking classes if not an on site experience in Sardinia is highly recommended.
The food we delicious. The atmosphere is lovely but we weren't finished dinner and they were setting other tables for breakfast, a little strange. Also, our waitress was not very informed and not very attentive. Not sure we'll be back.
Lovely decor on Beacon Hill. Food is fresh and wonderful. Service prompt. Dining room a little small and crowded.
Incredible service, unexpected side plates, chic atmosphere.
We had a delicious and most comfortable dinner at Peregrine. Although it's located in a hotel lobby, the restaurant is fairly quiet, and feels intimate. The three of us split a shrimp appetizer, and our main dishes were the chicken, mussel/clam combo, and duck, all of which were excellent. We appreciated the fact that gratuities are included. In any case, service was professional throughout our meal.
Very laid back atmosphere, food was really good and there was a variety of options to choose from, decent wine slection
I usually enjoy Peregrine, but this time it was all disappointing. The duck pate tasted tinned. The polenta was watery and cold with far too many red pepper flakes. The Chatham mussels and clams were 45% lumps of potato. The chef has a heavy hand when it comes to seasoning. I asked for the pate without the pickled peppers which are inedible as they have so much vinegar. I asked for a few lettuce leaves. I got no lettuce leaves at all and thankfully no pickled pepper either.
