The food was amazing, but the noise level was high.
The food was excellent. In my experience it always is. Service was good. My only negatives were: (1) we were in the part of the restaurant with a low ceiling and the acoustics were awful (impossible to hold a normal conversation), and (2) I asked the waiter for a recommendation on a glass of wine to have with my pasta and the one he brought me cost $21 (my bad for not asking, but WTF, same as the dish itself? not fair.)
Thank you for making the old retired folks completely at home during the busy business lunch day. You gave us a great table and let us have a relaxed lunch with fabulous food and service! Molto Bene
Great food, somewhat pre occupied waitress but overall good experience and the food is excellent. I would not hesitate to go back next time I am in the city
Service was very good especially after I sent back the meat twice because it was red rather than pink. The waiter overheard us discussing my friend's birthday and brought a lovely platter, which had Happy Birthday written in chocolate and two Italian cookies to die for. We were seated in a corner booth which was ideally located for conversation. And, there was NO blaring music in the background - just the sound of people talking.
Our server was a delight. Very attentive and knowledgeable. Will definitely come back and recommend.
Again, the food was outstanding - delicious salads (little gems with anchovies, roasted beets with citrus), succulent pasta courses (agnolotti with meat/vegetables; raviora with meyer lemon ricotta), and slow cooked pork shoulder - as terrific as we had remembered. Found an excellent Sicilian Etna Rosso wine which worked perfectly. We'll be back soon.
The first words that were spoken to us was “welcome” - need I say more...
We were celebrating our friend’s birthday. The only reason I gave them 5 stars is because of 4 people that really made a difference. The head chef, the owner, Israel, Alvin. They really took good care of us and stepped in when our server forgot about us. Another server that was not great is Colin. Place is amazing and the food but please talk to your servers. When we have to get up to ask for water??? Is not great. Thank you for having us tonight.
Perbacco is always a pleasure. Cocktails are quite good, wine overpriced but good. Ah the food: a varied and interesting menu, something for every preference/dietary restriction. I like that pastas are offered in either appetizer or main course portions. Presentation is very good, pacing appropriate. Our server was a little stretched during the first part of our meal (it took perhaps 20 minutes or so to take our orders) but we dined not the late side and as the restaurant emptied the pace evened out. We have been many times (lunch and dinner) and will certainly come again.
Perbacco is a great spot for a business lunch. Not too loud, so we could have a productive conversation. The risotto is always a winner.
Everything from the service to the food to the ambiance was fantastic. I had raves about it to my friends and was hoping it would live up to my hype and did so and more.
Food was okay. Service a little slow. Pricey for what you get.
Great food and efficient staff and services.
Excellent flavors and tremendous service! Very attentive.
This place is a favorite when I visit San Francisco. The food is authentic, imaginative and sometimes, depending on the dish, excellent. I had the duck and it was perfectly cooked and fabulous. I also had the lemon flavored gnocchi. I thought they could have been fluffier/lighter but the flavor was excellent and the sauce superb. My friend had the risotto, which was also very, very good. We shared a desert, the semifreddo, which was lovely. Finally, the service was, as usual, friendly, efficient, and highly competent.
Service was pleasant but very rushed. It was a Saturday evening and I would have liked to enjoy my cocktail before the first course came out but the kitchen was just too fast. They had us in and out in an hour and when I’m spending a couple hundred dollars on dinner I like it to last a bit longer. It was not exactly a leisurely dining experience.
Great service from the minute we walked in the door!
Risotto was pretty runny. Need to be cooked longer.
Bus boy disappeared to remove dishes in between courses
Hands down one of the best Italian restaurants in the city. I have tried 4 different pastas on their menu and have always been amazed at how tasty it was. Great for lunch (similar menu, cheaper than dinner), great pasta, fantastic Italian spot.
Perbacco's food is delicious and the staff is friendly.
Really excellent food, as expected. Pastas exceptional, sea bass very well cooked
This was my fourth meal at Perbacco. Very creative food and business-like service.
Perbacco is a must try restaurant if you are visiting San Francisco. The food is always excellent and the wine list is outstanding. The staff is very friendly. Can eat at a table ( reservations a must) or seat at the bar for full service. You can even take the cable car to the restaurant. If you drive, it is difficult to park but they have valet.
Excellent. Food, service, menu options, ingredients, staff and ease of Valet. All excellent. We had four courses including crisp which was bright and citrusy and delicate; fried shrimp and accompaniments; a delicious pasta with fresh spaghetti like noodles and a pork raft - it was a perfect dish; crepes made from heirloom grains filled with ricotta and covered in a cheesy sauce with fresh spring veggies. And the gelato. Out of this world.
It’s a tad noisy - could use some soft set faces. And they don’t tell you what’s in each dish but it’s worth asking because the dishes are complex. Not sure why they don’t just routinely present the food with a description.
Overall lovely experience and great value for an upscale San Francisco dining experience.
Just a pleasure to be at a well run comfortable restaurant and eat delicious Italian food. Wine thoughtfully paired. Service very gracious.
We had a very good experience and the food was outstanding across the board. Service was very responsive and met all of our expectations. The ambiance and noise level on the podium level was very good for a lunch meeting.
I really wanted to live this place however the food was not good at all. It was so disappointing. The seabass was over cooked and lacked any flavor. The best part of the meal was the glass of wine. Both plates were left untouched. The pasta with duck was simply was drenched in the sauce.
Have been a few times. Food is excellent, service great. Good spacing between tables allows you to have a nice conversation.
The ambience was on point, service was flawless, and the overall feeling was amazing !! Great food, we will be going back next month :)
This place is pitch black inside, you can’t read the menu, plus our waiter over charged us for 1 extra bottle of wine $60, not a good experience, sorry to say.
Great food and the wait staff was attentive . Will definitely return
Perbacco has fairly basic ambiance and decent Italian food. Nothing too special or out of the ordinary. I think there are probably more authentic Italian spots in the city that cost a bit less, but I'm sure the location bumps the price point up a bit. Not bad, not great.
Excellent pasta. Good service. A bit pricey for lunch
Pasta with pork was tasteless
Diego, bartender was more interested in talking to a lady sitting at the bar. Took my drink order and continued talking to her. I had to interrupt and ask for a straw, then had to ask for bread. My entree came out and he never once came back to ask how it’ll my meal was or if I needed anything. God forbid I needed anything and interrupt his conversation.
Service can be a little slow sometimes but the food is absolutely worth it; and they keep you well supplied with bread and other simple appetizers while you wait so you don't ever get too hungry. You should try the Brutti Ma Buoni cookies for dessert for sure.
Food was fantastic! The flavors were mouth watering. Service was great!
We had to scream to hear each other. Food was delicious. Waiter was annoyed with us when we weren’t able order all dishes at the same time. Unfriendly waiter. Fake smile
The stinging nettle pasta with meatballs and mushroom ragout is terrific.
