Excellent and very fast. 45 minutes after our reservation time, we were finishing dinner. However, we were not at all rushed.
We had a fabulous evening at Perbacco. Although service was a bit slow, we were not in a rush so a 2+ hour dinner with 3 courses was fine. Our cocktails were great, and we brought our own wine ($25 corkage) which was decanted and poured expertly. We received some nice crispy breadsticks and some basil pesto dipping sauce - yummy. All of our starters were pastas and they were delicious, including the pappardelle. Our second plates were also outstanding (halibut, scallops and a huge portion of extremely delicious osso buco). Bread service is also available. We couldn't leave without sharing some dessert, so we had a fabulous gelato. This space is busy down by the bar, so sitting upstairs was perfect because it was relatively quiet and we could carry on a conversation easily. Although this is a white tablecloth restaurant, it's not at all fussy, and servers are all attentive, professional and welcoming.
The Server was very helpful with suggestions and his can-do attitude.
I was THRILLED with the seating selection which was done with care, as one of our party is hearing impaired....kudos to the host/hostess and wait staff for doing this at my request.
Food was phenomenal. From the early appetizers of calamari, beet salad, to the sliced veal carpaccio to the delicious Pinot selected from Forestville (Flower Hill) to the main courses, consisting of the fabulous Pasta dishes, Tarjene and Pocket filled cheese pasta, to the Osso Bucco!
Yummy all around!
A true gem and indeed, we will go back with friends as we've done time and time again. Keep the good work up.
Great meal and wonderful server.
My third time here and it eas worth it. My lunch date was also impressed. A great place overall and worth coming back to.
Great food is a guarantee at Perbacco!
The food is excellent. Dined on Fritto Misto, shared two pastas (pork Sugo & paparadelle with braised short ribs) and scallops.
Sommelier was very helpful with wine selections.
Service impeccable. Didn’t miss a beat, timed bringing dishes out perfectly.
Great meal with authentic Italian specialties. Average service that could have been a bit better (more attentive) Worth driving into the city.
I've been to Perbacco a number of times, but last Saturday was just fantastic. Our waiter and the wine steward recommended great choices, and our party was very happy with the pacing.
Impeccable service as is usual. Doesn't matter what server you have, he/she will know exactly how to portion a bottle of Champagne from the entrée through dessert, with the final glass by itself to top off the dinner. The restaurant is in the perfect location for nearby hotel guests. I go to Perbacco mostly for special occasions like a birthday or anniversary. That said, the service is even better. By all means make Perbacco a must do at least once a year.
Our entrees were superb. We got scallops and the duck. We will most certainly return again. We have come to Perbacco before for both lunches and for dinners. It never disappoints.
Delicious handmade pastas!
Another wonderful delightful Perbacco experience. Heavenly plin pasta that your Italian grandmother would make! An almost free trip to Italia!
Food and service was amazing. However, the dining area can get very loud, and it was shockingly difficult to hear the person right across from me.
Perbacco is always excellent: the food, the service, the overall "feel" of the place. This night was no exception!
The food was good overall with a few items that were very good. The service was very good across the board. Both the bartender and the wine director deserve special mention; they both helped make it a great evening!
If noise bothers you, ask for a side table away from the larger dining area with the low ceiling. In that area, it is very noisy.
Been going for years. Never disappointed. The food and service are always consistent
Celebrated my husbands birthday. Service was fantastic, food outstanding. I would come back next time I am in the city.
Found the food and overall experience to be a bit disappointing. Our meals were okay but not great. I ordered the steak salad and found the steak to be a bit chewy and rubbery. My friend ordered the pasta with pork and it was quite heavy and oily.
The burrata appetizer was tasty and the service overall was quite good. I went there a few years ago and thought the food was a lot better. Did not enjoy this experience as much.
Whenever I need a perfect spot for a business lunch I go to Perbacco. The food is consistently sublime and the service is quietly attentive. The best!
It all works perfectly
Proper service, creative food, good vibe, pretty place
Just about everything about this was great. Loved the ambience - great decor and nice, buzzy atmosphere. Food was fantastic - pappardelle was sooo tasty!! Special shout out to the sommelier - was looking for a really nice bottle of wine. Was happy to spend more but he recommended a great Barbaresco for about $100 - superb!! Loved Perbacco and will definitely be back.
Great culinary experience
Food good. Service bad. Attitude of server immature. Customer is ALWAYS MOST IMPORTANT,don't ya think!
Seated upstairs w several families that had small screaming kids. Very unpleasant. This is not a family venue. It ruined our meal
Great culinary experience
We visit Perbacco each time we come to San Francisco and it always substantially exceeds our expectations....the food is original and delicious, the wine list is excellent and the service is superb. Each experience is better than the last. Bravo!
Really enjoyable experience at Perbacco. It was my turn to pick a restaurant as part of our bimonthly Diner's Club -- made reservations a month in advance and was able to add a 5th member to our party of four 30 minutes before our reservation. *The kind folks at Perbacco did not force 5 of us into a 4 person table, rather they set us at a lovely round table so that we were all comfortable. This was the level of service and attentiveness through out. The sommelier recommended some excellent wines -- including a white that tasted delightfully of Chicklets! Perbacco's Spring menu is in full force -- many delightful entrees and pasta courses to chose from with the best of the early vegetables. The items we ordered, all shared family style, were light, fragrant, crunchy and delicious. 2 bottles of wine, 2 appetizers, 4 pastas shared amongst 5 people and a dessert came to about $115 per person with tip. A wonderful evening all in all. Thank you Perbacco! I'll be back!
Our wait staff was really stressed and busy. He could not muster a smile or friendly comment. He was a distraction to an overall good experience.
My husband and I celebrated his birthday at Perbacco. First, the service was amazing. The right mix of friendly/attentive and space. And given that we were too full for dessert, they gave us delicious bite-sized chocolates to end the meal.
The food was a mixed bag. The appetizer (mixed frito) was bland and had zero flavor. My beef ragu pasta was absolutely delicious, but my husband's scallops were also lacking in flavor. The wine pours were also a bit skimpy.
I would be willing to give Perbacco another try the next time I'm in the mood for pasta and great service...but not sure I'd venture there for more.
Loved the agnolotti. We think it was the highlight of the meal. Also enjoyed the scallops.
Food is truly wonderful! The Pappardelle and Sole are just fantastic. We will be back!
What a great place! First time having dinner at Perbacco and I loved the seasonal flavors.
Always love Perbacco ! Exceptional food and service. One of the best in San Francisco.
Came here on a recommendation from my wine-maker sister from Sonoma. She was spot on. Had the artichoke arugula burrata salad to start. Was AMAZING. We also shared the seasonal snap peas which were wonderful. My husband and I both had pasta main dishes that met all expectations as well. I love the option for a smaller pasta portion so I can order more dishes to try. Also love the wine by the ounce option!
Excellent service and varieties of dishes👍
Always outstanding. Umberto and crew serve up traditional Italian dishes and all American favorites with crisp, efficient service and elegant style. Superb wine list featuring fine Italian wines like the superb 2007 Amarone we enjoyed. Finished up with an exquisite cheese platter and 20 year old port.
