Always love this place. Excellent pasta and service
The food was OUTSTANDING! A last minute reservation because our original choice was full but I'm so glad we went here. Our party of 4 ordered different dishes and we all got to try each other's dish and loved everything equally. It has been a long time where I found that I enjoyed everything served at a restaurant.
We all thought the food was very good, had an enjoyable experience overall. Sophisticated, comfortable interior. Somewhat loud, but no louder than any modern restaurant. Will definitely return!
Birthday and vacation- excellent meal and service!
Excellent server!! Great food!
Always so good!
Wonderful ambiance, lovely food and wine, great service. All you can ask for
Still my favorite Italian restaurant in the Financial District
On a balmy SF night, the restaurant was painfully, uncomfortably hot. So much so that we were extremely uncomfortable for the entire meal. We sat toward the back of the house and it seemed that each step we took toward the back of the building the temp increased by a few degrees. On warm city nights I'd recommend bar seating.
Service was excellent but the kitched took al dente one step too far. Both of our pasta dishes could have benefitted from one more minute in the water.
Love it Great service great food great atmosphere
The waiter and staff were not very friendly. One of the staff was bringing the food to our table, pushing everything aside, not a word or smile.
The food was delicious.
Great place for lunch or dinner - Fidi favorite
Waited 30 minutes to be seated after arriving on time. The restaurant was hot in temperature. Also we were sat next a couple with their dog who was not in any way a service dog.
We were in San Francisco for four days and nights and this was by far our best meal of the trip! We had the Pappardelle and the Tajarin and both were superb. We also had the brussel sprouts for the table. Delicious. For dessert we had the Nuvola, which was surprisingly the best part of the meal. Will definitely put this on my list if we go back to SF.
My second visit, this time for my birthday dinner, as the first time I went was great. Excellent food, great service each time I have been there. Almost every dish has something just a bit unique to make it memorable, and the service staff makes it a point to make sure every detail is perfect.
Very pleased with restaurant’s attention! I made the reservation to celebrate a friend’s birthday. Upon seated to the table, the waiter immediately presented my guest (birthday girl) with a birthday card! Everything we ordered was delicious but I wished the main course selection could be more extensive like before. Overall a very good experience!
Took clients for dinner, service from when I walked in was great, food was memorable and there was good people watching. I’ve not been for years and was happy to find that it’s held up really well. I’ll go back for sure - paperadelle was exceptional, waiter steered me right with wine which was needed since I know little about Italian wines.
Food was delicious! I had the Prix fixe plate with the garden salad and the "Ravioa" with ricotta and mint. What was not good was the service. We were seated with our reservation at 11:45, within a minute, he took our drink order of iced tea. Then he disappeared for 20 minutes. We had to ask the busboy to find him. He did not taking our order til 12:05, 20 minutes after bing seated. This was a business lunch, and we need to leave by 12:50 for a 1:00 meeting. Once the order was taken, my salad arrived a view minutes later. But our entries where still not delivered by 12:25. Again we had to ask for our waiter. Our entrees arrived, one was a large salad, at 12:30, giving us 20 minutes to eat. We were pressed for time, because of the server.
Umberto is the best!
Food and service terrific. Value good. Unfortunately the acoustics are terrible. Very difficult to hear people at your table at busy times.
Best service we had the entire weekend in the city. For a nice dinner out the food and wine selection was great. We did intend to go for the gnocchi but they had just changed the menu so beware what’s online may not be exactly as the menu reads.
Excellent spot for a romantic dinner. Quiet atmosphere, and the food was creative and extremely well executed.
To be truthful, the place thinks more of itself then it should. Although flavors are very deep and intense at times such as the beef cheeks, portions tend to be on the smaller side, such as the tasty pappardella with mushrooms and short ribs. The halibut was prepared nicely however and had a nice portion. The duck was tasty, but really small. Factor in that most items come with nothing else on the plate, the value is just not there. Service is impeccable, and the seating is very comfortable. Furthermore, the front-end staff couldn't have been any nicer
Food and service at Perbacco are up to the SF standards for dining. Great menu that we discovered changes daily. Many great options - seafood, pasta, prima and so on. A bit pricy but a pretty good value overall. We went big and had dessert and that was a great experience. So many choice. Great wine list both by the bottle and glass. Can't miss dining experience.
Could barely hear my own thoughts. So loud. Bad service and VERY crowded. Never again.
The food was excellent. The service was very slow to take our order. Also an appetizer was overlooked. The orders for dessert was also so slow that we decided to skip.
trout was overcooked
otherwise food was good, service ok but a bit aloof
Perfect place for a meal. I ended up dining alone for my birthday but they cheered me up with a lovely birthday card. The food was excellent. I had the Langaroli with Black Truffle Sauce. It was hard to eventually let go of my plate, but I finally moved on to dessert and had a cheese selection with port wine.
I would like to be a repeat offender next time I visit San Francisco.
Great food! Service was pretty bad, our server took a while to take orders, bring drinks, check on us. It was really busy for a Monday so it might of been because of that. Really loud so it was hard to hear everyone since we were a bigger party. Besides that we had a great time!
It was very disappointing. I always loved this restaurant but will not go back again.
The server started off too frazzled, but ended up ok. She recommended the most expensive wine on the list.
My husband’s duck breast entree was excellent, but mine was not good. They ran out of gnocchi and substituted a different pasta with the sauce. It was so thick with sauce like all glumped together.
My husband was upset that I made him get dressed up. All other diners were dressed like slobs.
Maybe in its day, it was good but tired now. Too many other great places to go in SF!
Great cuisine from great people!
The only true Piemontese Italian for me in San Francisco
The food was not very good for a restaurant of this price level. The service was OK, but also not as good as expected given the price level.
Outstanding dining experience! From our Sommelier’s guidance to the food execution and presentation it was simply exceptional. Our third time here and each time has been seamless, professional service. Highly recommend for a warm and wonderful evening!
Excellent food and service.
Best Pappardelle and short ribs
Our friends recommended your restaurant and we are glad they did!!!
Pasta was too much creamy and thick
Lots of promise but short on delivery. First, the place gets loud. We were seated in the area closer to the front door and the noise wasn't too bad at first though it got much worse as the restaurant filled up. But we could hear the din from the main dining area and I was glad we weren't in the midst of that (though in our location we were treated to a stiff breeze every time the front door was opened even though we were several tables away from it).
The service was perfunctory at best; many might call it slow. The waiter seemed like he had somewhere else to be.
We enjoyed our food, it was good. It wasn't excellent but it was a good, solid meal.
