Sleek and modern with one foot firmly in the Old World is the feeling at Perbacco. The restaurant boasts a brick wall original to the historic 1913 Hind building, with other touches such as a bar top and floor tiles made from white Carrara marble. With 16 seats at the bar and 7 more intimate tables, Perbacco creates an atmosphere for a glass of wine or a light bite. Perbacco also features 2 dining rooms, one on the main floor and a smaller one on the Mezzanine, which has the added allure of serving as "theater", with windows to watch all the action in the kitchen below. Chef Staffan Terje strives to cook the finest food reflecting the Italian regions of Piemonte and Liguria. Handcrafted, house-made salumi, prosciutto and other charcuterie are not to be missed. Seasonal pastas, a tradition in Piemonte, range from the traditional ravioli to the more exotic agnolotti. Main courses feature dishes such as stuffed quail breast, a selection of seafood dishes, and vegetarian options.

Food and service were great so was the wine suggestion. And cocktails were awesome too. We found the dessert options underwhelming. The gelato we had was good, but it seemed the only good one on the menu. There was a bit of a delay getting our table, and it seems like a glitch from open table, I had searched for a table for 2 and the reservation was for a table for 3. So the delay was because of that reason. But all in all I would recommend this place.

The food was delicious. The service was lacking. It took me 10 minutes to flag down a waiter to get a refill on water and another 10 minutes to pay for my meal. As for the tables around me in my section, the waiter provided excellent and prompt service. My girlfriend and I were the youngest in our table section. If you want your waiter's service to depend on how much your willing to spend and how old/ expensive you look, this is the perfect spot. If not, find another restaurant. The discrimination is not worth the pasta.

Very good experience. Only feedback is to the chef...use a different mushroom in the frito misto. I love mitakes but they hold too much batter so not best for frying. Octopus salad and risotto were excellent. Professional service throughout and a 19 yr old Dolcetto by the glass...wow. Great value overall. I’ll recommend Perbacco to anyone and look forward to my next visit.

I took my Boyfriend’s Grandma out for a special lunch and everyone on the team was really incredible. Heather was our server and was really thoughtful, and detailed with menu ingredients through our entire meal. Thank you!! PS-Grandma still texting me 3 days later about how great everything was!

The overall experience was sub par. Nothing about the place stood out from the service, food or value. Probably will not return.

Regards to service, my waiter was going through the motions but really did not want to be there and it was obvious.

The halibut was $35 and left me wanting more esp. In flavor.

I chose this location to meet up with a friend I hadn't seen in 18 years. I wanted something classy, conveniently located, but quiet enough that we could really talk and catch up.

Perbacco exceeded expectations. The food was fantastic, the wait staff were attentive yet not pushy, and the atmosphere was perfect.

We'll be back again!

Service was borderline. They had a problem placing the correct orders with the person who ordered the items. Silverware was forgotten several times until it was requested. Service definitely not up to par but everything else was great.

This is great spot, especially for Financial District folks. Valet parking made it easy. The food was delicious and priced appropriately. I thought the wine was a touch pricey. We sat near the bar and enjoyed the comings and goings of the patrons. Our experience (ambiance-wise) would likely have been different had we been seated in the rear. All in all, we enjoyed the night and will return.

Service was very slow. I felt as we were the forgotten table. One of our individuals did not get her drink until about 45 min to get the drink. They did not take our order until 1 hour after we were sitting there. However, once we started to receive service, everything went wonderful. Food, and drinks were excellent! I am chalking the server issue as a one time thing.

Outstanding food and service. A really excellent menu is somewhat like being in a lifeboat with too many people -- some really tough decisions have to be made, and you know the casualties would be winners if they survived the selection process.

Excellent Italian food. Umberto the owner is all over the place making sure all are happy. When I found out he was once the owner of Chianti in LA, one of my all time favorites, it all made sense. . Very nice and Fair priced wine list. Very good service. Try the superb Vitello tonnato. Very pleasant ambience and noise level under control. A new favorite in San Fran.

Amazing service! We never waited for a thing - water and wine glasses always full and food arrived promptly. While the service was attentive it wasn't smothering which was perfect. We were celebrating a birthday and they made us feel very special - card, people wishing happy birthday, and a great table.

My only complaint is other diners clearly weren't dressed for a nice restaurant. A t-shirt and jeans?!?! Bit annoying when I'm dressed up sitting next to someone who is dressed for a fast food restaurant. This isn't the restaurants fault - they clearly state business casual on their website.

Arrived early and sat at bar for a tasty drink before dinner. At dinner the waiter was warm and friendly while helping us each choose our dinner. Food was excellent and we were very pleased with the entire evening.

I think Perbacco is one of the best restaurants in the City, period. The food is delicious, inventive and beautifully prepared and served, and for the area and what you're getting, very reasonably priced. The service is outstanding - professional waitstaff and support servers who ensure that every detail is looked after, but not in a fussy, intrusive way. The decor is also cool, and warmly inviting, but not fussy. We had a perfect dining experience on Saturday when, on a whim, we decided to check if they had availability last minute. Surprisingly they did - typically this place requires advanced reservations (for good reason).

We were greeted warmly by the reception staff, and shown to our table almost immediately, even though we were a tad early for our reservation. The waiter came right over, introduced himself, and gave us space to pick drinks. He came back, then again with drinks, and I had some menu questions which he answered in a leisurely way, not rushed at all (which I really appreciate). Also, he knew the menu throughout, and made excellent wine recommendations for pairings by the glass.

Our food was all so goooooooood! We had two appetizers - a veal with a tuna sauce, and a stone fruit salad that was heavenly. Very complex layers of flavors, textures and surprisingly excellent stone fruit (where are they getting such good produce?) - but accessible, not overly "foodie" and pretentious as so many places can be these days. I had perfectly cooked house-made pappardelle noodles with a ragu that was mouthwatering; and my husband had a piece of halibut that made me swoon, on top of some veggies and a sauce. For dessert, we ended up sharing three flavors of their gelato and sorbet across two orders (they made us a special blend) - the caramel, chocolate and fruit. These are memorable - and I would just eat those if it weren't unseemly! They come with paired little cookies....pure indulgence and so worth the calories!

Just go! Worth every moment and $!

Special occasion place for sure. Quiet, classy, excellent customer service, and the food was delicious. Calamari appetizer, beef cheeks and quail were all superb! Nice dinner out!
