Sleek and modern with one foot firmly in the Old World is the feeling at Perbacco. The restaurant boasts a brick wall original to the historic 1913 Hind building, with other touches such as a bar top and floor tiles made from white Carrara marble. With 16 seats at the bar and 7 more intimate tables, Perbacco creates an atmosphere for a glass of wine or a light bite. Perbacco also features 2 dining rooms, one on the main floor and a smaller one on the Mezzanine, which has the added allure of serving as "theater", with windows to watch all the action in the kitchen below. Chef Staffan Terje strives to cook the finest food reflecting the Italian regions of Piemonte and Liguria. Handcrafted, house-made salumi, prosciutto and other charcuterie are not to be missed. Arrived for an early business dinner. Service was impeccable as always, noise level was low since it was 5:30 on a Friday. I had the strawberry salad which was very good but the Pappardelle with short rib was AMAZING! I didn’t eat much since it was a meeting so I gladly took home a doggie bag and throughly enjoyed when I got home. So so so good!! Highly recommend for a date night or really anything. Second time here and was delicious both times.

Great location for business lunch or special events. The cuisine is northern italian and their angliotti dal plin will be one of my final meals if I can arrange it. Service is great and change the menu every few months. Fav Italian restaurant in FiDi.

Been eating there for years but this time I was disappointed by the food and the service. We were abandoned by our waiter and the food took awhile to arrive. When we were done with main course no one cleared plates and asked about desserts and coffee. We finally had to ask for check and leave. We were a party of 6.

Three at our table ordered the prix fixe menu for restaurant week. Both our main and our dessert were changed. Both were done well, but there was no explanation and no apology whatsoever. When halibut was placed in front of me, I asked the server(not our assigned server) “Is this the salmon?” Knowing full well it was not. The server just turned away and left. When the tiramisu was replaced with panna cotta again, no explanation, apology or even acknowledgment. Needless to say the bill was not altered either. Unprofessional by server and by restaurant. Black mark on them.

It was restaurant week to our surprise and the menu for that deal looked appetizing so the entire table ordered. The food did not disappoint and the service was attentive. The booth we sat in near the front was kind of tight but the only issue really was the party sitting back to back to our booth. Every time they moved, it was equivalent to someone kicking our seat on a plane. That same dining party also spoke loudly so it was very hard to hear our own conversations. It might help to have a glass/plastic barrier between booths to deaden conversations between tables for privacy and volume. Also being near the front door, each time the door opened, a delayed breeze would settle in. That’s my two cents on the seating placement but otherwise the food and service were great.

Not the Perbacco we've grown to love over the past several years. Like many restaurants, Perbacco is seriously understaffed, and service was slow. Some of the pasta dishes were excellent (e.g., the tajarin) but others were overly bland, and the agnolotti had an unpleasant texture. We'll give it another try in a while, but this was a disappointing dinner.

This was our first visit back since Covid restrictions, and we were happy to see Perbacco busy and vibrant. We had a fabulous dinner that included great service, good drinks and excellent wine. A favorite was the vitello tonnato. We also loved the owner's recommendations for wine and food in the Piedmont region of Italy, where we will be next week.

We were very turned off by service. First, the front of house dismissed us when we said we had a reservation and then proceeded to seat us in the corner. Next, we did not get water until the table that sat down after us, received water, and the waiter realized that we had not been served yet. When we ordered the food, the server was very short and never came to check in on us throughout the meal. For an establishment like Perbacco, I would expect much better service. The only time they came over was when we mentioned that the mussels were fishy and asked for another dish. I will not be returning as the service at a restaurant like Perbacco is not what I expect.

I got one piece of bread. I asked for another 30 minutes later. The wait staff never came back with it after agreeing to bring more. I just gave up and ordered dessert. Server only came twice during a 2.5 hours

Comfortable but still very classy restaurant with friendly, helpful staff who go out of their way to meet your expectations and individual requests. Menu, altho not extensive, covers many varieties of food. Wine list is also varied and fair priced. Finally the owner ,manager of the restaurant stops at your table and makes every diner feel like a special guest. Perbaco has been providing a wonderful San Francisco dining experience for years. Lets all hope they can continue to shine in a highly competitive market.
