Love this restaurant! It’s in a beautiful eclectic area of Soho. The food was great and fresh. I enjoyed the brunch into dinner time. My waiters were friendly and attentive. I truly enjoyed my outing.
Great ambience for a Sunday afternoon brunch. The service was fantastic and the food exceeded our expectations. A must visit if you're in Soho.
Really was excited about this restaurant after hearing some good reviews from friends. And after going there, my opinion is that it *can* be good, but only if you book an early time slot. A few thoughts:
1) the outdoor setting has a fantastic ambience. And we booked "outside" after seeing pictures. But there are two outside sections - the sidewalk and the courtyard. Make sure you know they do not promise you the courtyard if you book "outside"-the sidewalk in no way compares to the courtyard.
2) we booked for 930pm. They didn't have our table ready until 10pm. Fine, that wasn't a big deal. But - as soon as we sat down, the waiter said - this is last call. You must order all drinks and food now. The restaurant doesn't even close until 11pm! I understand they want us out by 11, but we had to select all food and drink without having time to even peruse the menu! So we each ordered 2 drinks (they wouldn't even let us order drinks at a later time) and several apps and entrees for the table to share. Withing 20 minutes, they brought every single item to the table. All at once. They gave us small platters to eat on because there was literally no room for any of us to have a larger plate on the table. And they didn't come to clear any plates as we frantically tried to eat in order to stack empty plates. Then the waiter kept coming by to tell us we had to leave. At 11pm, they turned on the lights brightly to indicate that we must leave. As we were shuffled out of the restaurants, we ran into several other groups they did this too.
I used to work in a restaurant, so I can understand unruly groups that spend far too long at a table. But this was not that. We showed up on time for our reservation. They were late in giving us our table. Then rushed us out. If they want patrons out the door by 11pm on the dot, they should not be offering Open Table reservations at 930pm. Or they should give us the 930pm table when it is 930pm.
Food was fine. Service and rush was not.
Service was slow and bad.
Great ambiance. Big outdoor terrace.
Nice. Except the waiter was overbearing and reminded us multiple times of a 90 minute limit
Most terrible experience ever with having my friends from out of town.
We were pleasantly surprised and pleased, since this was our first time here. We were meeting old friends we hadn’t seen since the Pandemic. It was everything we wanted.
Love the outdoor space. Food is okay at lunch better at dinner. Always a good choice in Soho or midtown
Perfect outside seating!
Our work dinner was a success! Everyone LOVED the ambiance and the food. Would go back certainly.
Loved that there was so much outdoor seating. Timely service.
Limited menu for brunch and over priced. Ambience is good though
This place is not for big group dining. I liked outdoor seating on the back of the building and waiters were pretty good in service. Though hosts surprised me at the entrance by telling that we can use only 5 credit cards to pay bill for 14 attendees which are completely not related people. I would prefer to know before coming that they accept cash only and don’t separate a bill. 20% of tips were included in our bill despite of delay at the beginning and serving actually cold food.
The service here is terrible, and the food is overcooked and doesn't come out as you ordered.
Not very good shell fish
Outdoor was busy so we opted to sit inside which was relatively empty. Trying to flag staff down to take our order was a challenge. No serving utensils with the shared plates we ordered. Worst of all was bathroom… it needed serious attention both times I visited, paper overflowing from trash and strewn on floor and no paper towels. Staff seemed unbothered by my comments. Would not recommend.
We were a big group for dinner (14 ppl) and while we had a good experience overall, the service was extremely SLOW and quite disappointing to be honest. We really felt that the waiters were not making any effort to attend to us as they had a guaranteed tip of 20% from the get-go due to the size of our group. They were often unavailable to us and pretty unresponsive. It’s really sad that a nice place like this (with a charming atmosphere and a beautiful patio) ends up being a disappointment for its customers due to bad service. I’m sure Pera Soho can improve and do better in the future!
amazing the mezze were all spectacular and the staff were delightful. just got busy with the rush and the corny white people quotient got outta hand. we had such a lovely evening, close to perfect.
The ambience and the vibe is very good. Unfortunately the food is just OK. Food could have been hot.
Good food, great service. nice place.
I have eaten at Pera Madison for over 10 years. Anxious to return post-pandemic but disappointed with the menu being distinctively different. Most of all those typical Turkish delicacies were taken away😭of course the price ended up being much lower. Anyway. Let’s give a year and see if our beloved Pera can return to its amazing menu. Love to all
For my first time being there, I must say that it was a calm late night experience. I would definitely recommend!
A very warm Friday evening. The place was packed. Outdoor is better and bigger than indoor! We arrived around 9:45 and there was not a table to be had. We sat in the large courtyard along with many others. Atmosphere is bubbly and boisterous. Food was simple and good. Service was good. The $14 glass of wine was a bit much especially since they don’t show bottles unless you asked. Fun place. Relaxing. Go in the summer!
Horrible service and very disappointing food. Will not be back
Just a great Friday after work get together spot.
we are very loyal to any nyc restaurant and we will return again and again ..just show us a little love. Our kids are at an age now where we can go out for fun dinners and enjoy cocktails and a lively experience so we chose Pera for my sons bday. We didnt mind the crowd. Good for them! But the food. First, the buratta was thrown on a plate with a few greens very underwhelming.. no flavors. Then the country salad, again a few tomatos and chunks of gross feta with shrimp that was supposed to be grilled It looked “thawed”. I was so grossed out. I sent it back. Then I specifically had a private conversation with my waiter about dessert for my son bday and ordered the cookies he brought him the donuts with zero shame. No build up. Brought him his own utensils too prior to bringing it out. I was embarrassed. He then disappeared and we had to ask for the check which still had the salad with the frozen shrimp. Anyway this restaurant is a glorified Friday’s . I am very sad we chose this place for our celebrattion. This is my first negative review on OT. I need a do over asap.
Too expensive for what it is, food was ok, service was poor, very noisy, I would not recommend it.
Very loud, poor service, waitress didn’t check on us. Had to wait 30 min for our bill
Great experience. You have to get the peach and burrata salad.
My only complaint was that I reserved a table for outdoors and when I arrived was informed I couldn’t get apatio table but had to sit at the sidewalk enclosure.
The service was poor - the waiter didn’t know the wine menu, and had difficulty providing ice for my water. The covid shields are pointless and claustrophobic; they distracted from the attractive clientele (the primary highlight). The food was mediocre, and the music felt like I was at a night club. Will not be returning, but maybe for a drink and a view.
Everything we ordered was excellent. My husband is from Cyprus and said that Pera has the most accurately mediterranean food he’s had in NY. Definitely start with the muammara— could happily have 3 orders as a full meal.
The food was pretty disappointing. The burger buns were burnt (black char). We told the waiter and he changed them right away. The chicken kebabs - a couple of them were burnt (black char) . The mussels were not fresh at all and tasted terrible.
Good atmosphere outside. Smalls dishes were all great. Shakshuka was not very good at all.
Our server was busy so it did take longer to get another round of drinks. He was nice, apologize for the wait . Overall i had a good experience. would love to go back.
Just… meh. The food was low-end with high-end prices
Not a great meal. Nothing exceptional. Felt like counter-food
Hummus didn’t have much flavor
Pita chips were soaked in grease
The wine list was good
Service was good
Outstanding food and very nice atmosphere. It is pricey, but worth it for a great occasion.
