Service was inconsistent. The waiter insisted on telling us the specials before the drinks were ordered and he was not helpful in explaining the size of the "small plates."

Having eaten at Pera several times in the past & being a frequent delivery customer, I was shocked at the horrible service during this trip. The manager apologized and made it right, but it'll be some time before we go back.

My girlfriend and I stumbled upon Pera while roaming the streets of New York. The food menu was very moderately priced and the the restaurant had a delightful ambiance.
The staff was very knowledgeable and gave excellent recommendations. Needless to say, the food was exquisite. I loved everything about the place. I look forward to going back there.
PS. Their hummus and rice pudding is to die for.

Service and food were both very good. The appetizers were wonderful. My salmon was perfect, with exceptionally crisp skin which is a rarity, my only issue was that the skin was much too salty and therefore, for me anyway, inedible. Salt lovers will enjoy it. Will definitely make a return trip.

The food is always decent here - not spectacular, but nice enough for a business lunch with clients. But despite having a reservation and being one of the first tables seated for lunch, we were one of the last to leave thanks to our complacent waitress who seemed to be waiting on every table around us except ours the entire meal. We finally had to flag down a hostess to get our check and paid in cash just so we didn't have to wait even more for our credit cards to be run. We probably won't be back unless we have an extra two hours for lunch next time. Disappointing.

I really enjoyed the salmon very much and the presentation of all of our dishes. It was a good place for a business lunch during restaurant week and I would revisist for just that purpose.

I've returned to Pera a few times. The atmosphere is warm and inviting which makes it great for family meals as wells as business meetings. The quality, portions and freshness of the food make Pera a treasure for people that actually care about what they eat. The staff ensure a great experience by being attentive yet unobtrusive.

Food was good, but lacked the small details from the service that you would expect from a restaurant such as this. Waitress didnt ask if we wanted a 2nd bottle of wine, after removing 1st. Then when we said we weren't ready yet for our after dinner drink, she came back with check. And finally, made a mistake with the check. This was our second time here, and had similar issues during the first experience.

Food was great but the service, slow. For those catching a train out of Grand Central, this is not the place for you. But if you have the time, order lots and especially the kunefe dessert (it also takes ten minutes).

I was surprised to discover this wonderful restaurant so close to Grand Central. The small plates were so tempting that we skipped ordering entrees. Overall, the food was excellent with the exception of one appetizer that was a cut chicken roll. The wrapped dates and peasant salad was outstanding.

First time at a Turkish restaurant. Everything was outstanding. Our favorites were the lamb tacos and the calamari but that's not to say all the food wasnt delicious. The lamb was succulent and even the whole fish was full of flavors. The service was the finest. Professional but not overbearing and stuffy. Timing of food service was perfect.

We had the Pera classic, the two-course prix fixe dinner with four dishes for each course. It was delightful.

The food was ok and the place is comfortable. The service, however, is another story. Usually, if you are being served something that is not meant to be eaten, the waiter/waitress will point that out. Unfortunately, an appetizer of stuffed mussels came on a plate with what looked like rice. Much to my surprise it was some sort of fancy salt(about 1/2 a cup or slightly more). The menu said nothing about it being served on a bed of salt and neither did the waitress. Also, we were not asked if we wanted coffee with our dessert or anything, like shrimp added to our soup. While the food was tasty, the llack of vegetables was shocking.

Visited during Restaurant Week; Wait Staff was unattentive, the Maitre'd had to take my food order. The Prixe-Fixe menu was less than impressive. Whether it's Restaurant Week menu or not, an establishment should still have somewhat of a Wow! factor to that menu, so it can bring them back again and try the full menu. This didn't happen. And a bottle of Coke, for $5? Really? I can get that same bottle at my Deli, for $1.50.

I had been to the bar area previously and had small plates which was very good. Restaurant week was disappointing given the $35 price and the extremely inexpensive ingredients. I had gazpacho and a salad that had less than 4 oz of lamb on it.

This is a perfect spot near Grand Central. The servie was great although the busboys a little exuberant about clearing our plates (before we were finished). The restaurant was not that crowded, it was early on a week night. There was a live Jazz band.

Modern cuisine with mediteraneean influences. Medium to high pricing and missing some of the enthinc nuances. Food is prepared very well (compliments to the chef!)and innovative in presentation. Service is good and the only objection would be the level of noise which makes a bit difficult to have a meal time conversations.

I took my daughter and her friend, both of whom are college students doing internships in the city, here for lunch during restaurant week. We all enjoyed our experience and they even tried some new foods and yummed them up. Good choice for lunch in midtown.

The setting is lovely. We were seated right away, but the service was inconsistent. Drinks orders taken fairly quickly, but the starters took a while to get there and the dinner order was very slow in arriving. We ordered the whole fish, which tasted gorgeous but by the time they had filetted it the dish was cold, served on a heavy, cold plate. There were still a lot of bones in the fish. Our daughter had the halibut, which was delicious. The food was tasty but temperature and speed of service could be improved. There were several big parties that arrived at the same time, so perhaps that explains it. Still, for a nice place near Grand Central I would give this restaurant a chance.
