Food is very good, although a bit on the pricey side for what you get. I ordered what was basically a Greek salad with chicken and it was $27. The pita bread they offer at the start of the meal is delicious. The dining room has a nice ambiance and the waitstaff is friendly. Overall recommend.

At a higher end restaurant, there should not be a need to remind that bread needs to be brought to the table. Service was mediocre at best. The food was nicely presented, however tasteless.

Delicious food! Got to experience this restaurant during restaurant week! The salad and the gnocchi were outstanding! Truly delicious! Service was good! Definitely would like to come back to try the regular menu!
The hostess was the only thing that made the experience a little annoying! She was too busy texting and told us to “please wait one second” as she finished her text!

I have been coming here for years, so I will describe this visit as a bad night. I was at Pera for a business meeting; the restaurant was so loud we couldn't hear each other, the server we had was working for the first time and didn't know enough about the menu to answer even the simplest of questions (train the staff more before they go out on the floor). The person who came to her assistance didn't answer the questions well either, thus we didn't get the dishes we wanted and were specifically hoping to eat. We were rushed to clear the table. Staff repeatedly came to ask if they could take our plates.

Terribly disappointing.

This was one of my favorite places, but the food seems to have changed. The octopus in the salad wasn't fresh and the steak frites was mediocre...

Restaurant used to be great. More recently, the care, quality, and taste have declined. Bread was salted and oiled to the point it was inedible. The chicken was not fully cooked. The servers and host were bothered with our presence. Sad.

I don’t think I will ever go there. Menu is just average and they are taking the good stuff out of the menu.

I asked for coffee, it came cold! Just bad...

It is sad to see a good place to go this bad!

Pera actually has wonderful food, and I've enjoyed it at dinnertime. At lunch it is WAY to noisy to have a reasonable conversation. I found myself yelling over the din of the dining room. I won't go back there again for a business lunch meal. The maitre d had also claimed to have lost our reservation (blaming open table) and gave us pretty much the worst seat in the house.

All that being said, I've had many an enjoyable and delicious meal from this restaurant. You just need to go some time other than between 12-2 pm.

I took me several minutes of standing at the entrance podium for anyone to greet me, and then after being seated it took over ten minutes to nudge anyone to take our order. The restaurant was so noisy (1:15PM) that it was almost impossible to have a conversation with my guest. Food was OK but not very good or interesting. Obtaining the check was another adventure.

Reliable food and service. Stuffed grape leaves becoming ordinary, but lamb taco a top choice for appetizers. Chicken main dish better than on previous visits, with thin slices doubled over and grilled, then taken off skewer to make a nice presentation with salad. Lamb chops always done just right. Wine choices adequate, some interesting non-routine selections.

Not worth it; the bulgur pilaf and rice were OK but everything else -- the lamb kebab, artichoke+pea puree appetizer, starter bread --were all disappointing

Food was extremely delish [salad with grilled chicken] and the wait service was very attentive. Only thing that struck me odd was that despite reservations that indicated it was a business meeting they sat us next to the smokey grill. The lady that sat us was hesitant on seating us elsewhere, even though one of our party pointed out an available table. Facial expression showed annoyance. Never had that happen before ...

Took a long time to get the waiter to initially come over to us. When the server brought the food, I asked for some fresh pepper; the server said yes and walked to get it, and them I never saw them again.

Food was very good though.

We were in town for a work meeting. Pera was recommended to us by a local. I had beef and lamb shashlik and it was perfect. Not only were the spices excellent, the meat was tender and the fries were tasty. Our table shared sautéed spinach and mushrooms. Both sides had great flavor. The sautéed spinach had a lot of garlic and some pine nuts, which was perfect for our group.

Midtown is probably my least favorite neighborhood for dining out. Unless I am going to Le Bernardin (or other Michelin rated restaurants) but that would not be a dinner I would be paying for - it would be a business expense or a special occasion dinner.
Food is good at Pera Mediterranean Brasserie. Service is even better - servers are friendly with great suggestions. All around a nice experience but nothing out of this world. It is a safe bet if you need a restaurant near Grand Central Station. If location/being around Grand Central is not a priority, I would suggest visiting their sister restaurant, Pera Soho.

This was my second time and Pera, and I would return for a third. It's very hard to find a place in Midtown that is good and reasonably priced, Pera is one if the few. The dips and chicken main dish, in particular, were very tasty. Service was fine. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat at Pera, but if you need to eat in the neighborhood, it's a great choice.

I have been to Pera several times, as it is convenient to GCT and because I like Mediterranean cuisine. Every friend that I have brought there has liked it very much. I have to say that the service was above excellent the other day, when all the Metro North trains were stuck on the tracks for an hour due to tornado warnings. I called the restaurant and explained that my husband and I did not know when we would be able to make it to the restaurant as the railroad itself did not know when the trains would start running, but to hold my reservation. I also told them to please let the friends I had invited know that we were going to be late. My friends arrived and the staff did inform them that we would be late, and my friends said they were treated very, very well. It says a lot when a busy restaurant can pass on a message and honor a reservation, even under very unusual circumstances. Thank you, Pera!

This restaurant is in the noisy heart of midtown, but is relaxed and lovely on the weekends. The weekend dinner specials are bargains, and the crowd has gone elsewhere, so there is time to enjoy the food and drink properly while conversing with your dinner companions at a civilized volume.
