We really Pera! From the great appetizers to the salad and then the delicious baby lamb chops! We will definitely be back:)
This is my go-to lunch spot in my work neighborhood. Although it's always very busy, the service is always attentive and the food always impresses my dining companions. I've never been disappointed yet! I just wish the acoustics were better as it is hard to have a conversation at lunch.
The food was delicious. The staff was attentive and cheerful. The noise level was too loud, difficult to converse.
I entered Pera through the dark, opaque doors hoping I chose the right door (there are two sets and with them being opaque I couldn’t tell if I was in the right place and if, in fact, the place was open.) Once inside the host was welcoming and friendly and I sat immediately. Waiting on a friend, I was offered a drink quickly but declined. The waiter was friendly, and my friend and I never felt rushed; we took full advantage (lol!) as we haven’t seen each other in years. I chose a wine from their varied list (Greek! Italian! Spanish! South American! Your choice!) but they didn’t have the one from France I had selected. Went with a Pinot from willamette valley which was good. It took far too long for the wine to arrive (a pet peeve of mine; get the wine flowing, people!). I had a delish salad with shrimp (lots of nice salad options) and my friend had the bronzino. Had a side of spinach was really flavorful. We didn’t have dessert. We sat and lingered and no one rushed us out. Really a lovely dining experience, albeit a bit snug as we were at a two top and the two next to us was very close. Would go back. Seemed like there was a lively bar scene earlier on, but the place was quiet by the time we left (1030pm). Seems it’s a nice option for drinks straight from work, as it’s midtown and close to grand central.
Food was flavorful, creative and fresh. Service was odd: at both our table and the next one main courses came out while appetizers were still only half eaten -- and no, we are not slow eaters. I might be wooed, cajoled, bribed into understanding that if the restaurant was packed and waiters eager to turn tables (still: ugh), but the place was 2/3 empty. This, and the partial clearing of plates while some guests are still eating, leaving them uncomfortable, seem to have become ubiquitous. Come on management, proper training please!!
We were among the last diners at 8:30 on a Monday evening. Restaurant was quiet but we felt comfortable and welcomed. Service was very good. Food was good but not outstanding. Best dish was the Duo of lamb and beef - very good indeed.
The service was definitely lacking
We enjoyed a delicious and relaxed lunch. The service was nice, efficient and not annoying.
The staff were great from greeting our group, seating, and service. Would highly recommend for their great service and professionalism during a business lunch. They were quick and were able to accommodate to our 1hr schedule.
Excellent service and food. The stuffed grape leaves and the warm hummus as well as the bread are extraordinarily good. The lamb is always excellent.
Excellent foot, especially for vegetarians
the only flaw (big one) was that they had only ONE waiter for the whole restaurant; kind of bizarre, the manager told us that this was normal for them on saturday
this meant that poor Raoul (our waiter) was running table to table! felt bad for the guy!
Good food, good service but noise level interfered with dinner experience.
This was my second time at Pera, and I was a bit underwhelmed. I felt that the food was priced quite high for the quantity served. My daughter's fish casserole was tiny and served at a ridiculously hot temperature. Baklava was perfect - not too sweet. The service was adequate and our server was polite, but I did have to ask for him a couple of times. Its big plus is its convenience to Grand Central Station.
The food was creative and delicious.
The restaurant is beautiful and comfortable, maybe a bit too quiet.
The wait staff was professional, attentive and friendly.
I will definitely go back and highly recommend to other friends as the location is also super convenient.
good food and good for groups - many big tables - love the sampler on the appetizer list - mom approved and kid approved
Food was great and the price was very good. Wine pairings for Vday were $25. The service was outstanding. Its a nice place for special occasions. I also enjoy the live jazz band. I would recommend it to anyone.
Food is fresh and delicious. Service is quick and responsive. Excellent GCT area option!
It's always a great experience
We were greeted by a very pleasant server however, when making a reservation which was for a Sunday the restaurant states on their website that there is a “Sunday Supper” offered at $34. When we arrived I inquired and told that there was only the NYC restaurant week menu for $42. Same type of menu for $34 but you pay more during restaurant week. How does this make any sense?
The food was nothing special, not planning on returning anytime soon if ever.
Luckily, the service saved the overall experience.
Great food. Menu choices for restaurant week was excellent. Service and ambiance was wonderful. I will definitely go again.
Service was excellent; staff were friendly and attentive. Unfortunately, the food was only mediocre. Not bad, just nothing outstanding or inspiring. Still, the ambience was warm, inviting and upscale, so I would recommend to anyone who's interested in a "scene," rather than a notable culinary experience.
It is good experience for food and the service
The mezze trio and the side of artichokes with garlic were very flavorful but the gnocchi was absolutely bland and in fact tasted weird with the addition of raisins.
Lunch was great! The server was a bit slow to bring the check, given it was a weekday lunch. Great vegetarian options.
Superb dining experience! The food was incredible, I had the mixed grill, which was perfect, and we all started with the chef's mezze plate , a superb collection of Mediterranean appetizers. Service was fantastic, we were constantly attended to. Dessert was even better, and between the decor, the ambiance, the crowd and the food, can't beat Pera for a super start or finish to your evening out in NYC!
Restaurant week. Food was okay. Nothing amazing.
The food as usual was very good. A bit disappointed in the service. It took a very long time to be served the entrée after the appetizers were served. Perhaps due to restaurant week?
Chicken was over cooked.
Delicious! And wine bottles were half off!
A very solid Med restaurant with a good wine list.
My husband and I were visiting for NY for the weekend and wanted to go for Mediterranean food one evening. The food was very average at above average prices. I even got very sick after. I would suggest finding another restaurant.
This centrally located restaurant is fantastic for its top quality food, good wine, and terrific service. It offers authentic preparation from multiple Mediterranean cultures!
Food was decent. Not too loud. Service competent.
Magnificent service and food. Great server from my husbands country of Romania 🇷🇴
We were the only people in the restaurant. It was depressing. And we felt pressured to leave as the staff was closing up as we still sat there.
We had a great evening here! The Mediterranean sample platter was fabulous my husband and I shared it and then shared an entrée. And it was plenty of food and absolutely delicious! Our server was attentive without being intrusive and very very nice.
And that’s reasonably priced as well. I think you would enjoy it here.
I took one of my kids, who loves to eat, for lunch, having told him that Pera has the best French fries in NYC. He loved it. He particularly liked the lamb sliders appetizer and the fries. The service was lovely. Great choice.
Had dinner here after seeing rockettes at radio city. We had a great time. Food was excellent and service was very good. Overall would come back again and enjoyed all.
Everything was pretty excellent
The food was very very good.... but not a perfect 5 star.
I would not hesitate to return and bring family or business
The atmosphere was very nice
