French Onion Soup
The food and service were wonderful. We moved the okra fries especially!
We were very happy with our dinner after the App State football game. The service was GREAT. The food was yummy. We will be back.
You have to be doing something right to be open for over 40 years, even amidst a global pandemic. Food was spot on as usual. Our server was great. Now if only Jack would bring back those baked potatoes!
Pepper’s is a local favorite and a must for ASU alumni! The food is always excellent, and service is great! The reservation through OpenTable saved us over an hour wait! They had our table setup and were ready for us when we arrived! Fried mushroom appetizer was great (according to the friends with me), the Southwest Chicken Wrap! Everyone loved their food and beverages! We will most definitely visit Pepper’s when we are back in Boone, NC!
Our meal was delicious and the service was excellent!
Some of the best food I've ever had in my life, will 100% return.
Great food! Seevice was slow because of the kitchen but that is the new norm with Covid. Our server was fantastic and we thourghly enjoyed our dining experience
Great venue to grab a burger and sides. Very reasonably priced. The server did an outstanding job of meeting our needs!
We’re in Boone for a few days and honestly the restaurant name caught my eye because Pepper was our cat’s name. 😀
We both had the blackened mahi-mahi sandwich and it was delicious. The curly fries were the best I’ve ever had. We sat outside so I can’t comment about the inside of the restaurant but we thoroughly enjoyed our lunch and would definitely go back.
Pepper’s is a great diner/deli restaurant with a good number of choices to choose from. The variety in everything from appetizers to desserts should please everyone. The atmosphere is laid back, with a oldie time feel, along with App State memorabilia. Very comfy. Staff is very friendly and I can’t wait to come back to try more dishes.
Service was excellent. Food was good. Atmosphere was great.
Even though they were short staffed, we had a delicious meal
We're regulars and will continue to return to Peppers, but the fried sampler appetizer was way overcooked this time. Same with the pita points that came with the pimento cheese. It all just needed to be pulled a minute or so earlier and it would've been great as always. We didn't complain as they were half-price during happy hour and they were very busy.
We reserved through Opentable and were seated immediately. The servers were perfectly attentive. They made us feel welcome to be there. The food was delicious. The "Jean Lawson" is one terrific sandwich. The entire experience was top notch. I highly recommend this restaurant. Can't wait to return.
We were moving our daughter into App State and needed somewhere that took reservations for dinner. The food was very good and the service was great. We had the Shrimp and Grits that was the very good and a large serving that included soup or salad. The Cajun chicken pasta and the Reuben sandwich which were both good. Would eat here again.
Food very slow coming out
Caroline did a great job
Food very good nice dinner
Don't remember prosciutto in shrimp and grits.
Peppers food is fine. Still set up for social distancing. Has difficulty finding staff as all restaurants in the area, so staff are overworked and not as attentive as in the past. Very small table, crowded for 3, no place to set extra dishes. One party was served a salad, but other two patty's soup was served with main course??
Great casual dining choices on the menu. The light salmon dish was excellent and we'll prepared. I had the Caesar salad/chicken and recommend also. Our server Tyler was very courteous and professional. Very good wine list, too!
It was busy but server was still very attentive and food was cooked just perfect even with a modification.
The server was very friendly and efficient. This place used to be wonderful. Yesterday I went for the 1st time in 15 years, as I was in town fir the weekend. The chicken tenders were flat & overcooked, the club and Jean Lawson were just ok. The French onion soup was still wonderful. Unfortunately the experience was disappointing.
Good food and service. Would highly recommend (we loved the mahi tacos!) .
Food was ok. Took long time to get food. Have eaten there in the back and have really liked this time was just ok.
We’re locals and this is always our “go to” place! They have excellent food and service. We always feel safe eating here. Outdoor dining available. Make a reservation to help them plan.
Pepper's has long been our go-to in Boone and eating in the bar is very relaxing and convivial. The servers are also the bartenders, generally, and are super-attentive and friendly. The food choices are the same as in the restaurant, and Pepper's food has always been consistently good. The Jean Lawson Special is a Boone icon, and their onion rings and okra fries are as good as anybody's anywhere. Also a good selection of craft beers on tap.
It was okay for dinner in a strip mall. Not what we were hoping for but nothing bad either.
Date night while on vacation - service was outstanding.
We will go back the next time we go to Boone
Our serve Karen did a wonderful job at fulfilling our needs! It was my son’s 23 birthday and he enjoys burgers. Best burger in Boone NC hands down!
Seem to be behind times for covid restrictions. Half of booths closed despite walls between them. Forced to sit on hard chairs
Nice dinner at Pepper’s, there were four of us and we all had something different. Portions are quite large, so come hungry! Server was excellent, considering the restaurant appeared to still be short staffed. We will be back!
Peppers appears to be struggling like other restaurants currenting on level of staff - kitchen/wait. Food and service were average at best compared to years past. I'll wait awhile before going back. Restaurant doesn't need to have outdoor tables beside columns heading into parking lot with cars pulling up feet away and idling for curbside with fumes. Being nice.....
We eat at Pepper’s every time we are in Boone (usually several times a year). The staff members are always friendly and helpful, and the food is consistently excellent. We have been coming here since 1975, when the restaurant opened. Pepper’s receives top marks for their
pandemic preparedness this year, which made us all feel safe.
We are in town for a wedding and found Peppers online. The staff is so great, friendly and helpful. We had probably the best French Onion soup I’ve ever had!! Would definitely recommend to anyone!
Nice rustic feel. Tables were being sanitized after every meal. My husband said the catfish was fantastic, and my French dip sandwich was very good. Curly fries too! First timer but plan to make this a regular lunch stop! Wait staff very attentive and friendly.
Highly recommend! You need to try the French onion soup, it’s amazing!
I haven't been to Pepper's since I moved back to Boone. I was pleasantly surprised. The menu selection is very good. The Buttermilk Fried Chicken (boneless if anyone wants to know) was delicious. My friend & I were very impressed at the cleaning routine in place for each table. The service earned the 5 star rating! I will defiantly be dining there again very soon.
Peppers is always the same which is awesome place to eat . Food is always delicious. Nice job guys .
Received call night before they decided to close due to no staff? Really caused me a problem. Won’t try them again
I apologize for the issues this caused, I had been trying diligently to put together a staff to be open Monday to fulfill your reservation. We have gone from 55 staff members to 23 in the past 3 months and I was unable to open our restaurant with the limited available employees. This is an issue all restaurants are facing nationwide and we hope to soon return to our normal hours. Hopefully you will give us another chance in the near future when we have a fully staffed restaurant! -Josh Pepper
All the safety protocols are taken care of. Friendly and efficient staff. Very good food with good variety. Reasonable prices. A great choice in Boone.
had reservation - got in right at time (12:00)
waitress came to table at approximately 12:05 and delivered drinks and took order.
food did not arrive until 12:48 - everyone around us had food and left before us even though we were there first. we later overheard our order got lost but we were not informed of this
