Pepino's Spaghetti House
This is such an adorable neighbourhood gem!! It really felt like I stepped into a cutie spot in Italy (brings me right back to my adventures in Europe). The pasta here were so so delicious. We ordered the lobster fettuccine (they only make approx 5 a day) - we actually called early to pre-order it. We also ordered the Spinach and ricotta cannelloni as well as the fettuccine Alfredo and mushrooms. The place was packed on a Saturday evening so I’d definitely recommend making a reservation. To top it off, we ordered the tiramisu which was so creamy — we shared it between 3 people and it was a good amount since it was so creamy.
Have been before so picked Pepinos knowing it wouldn’t disappoint! The must haves-avocado salad, spaghetti and meatballs, and gnocchi and our amazing server! My husband ordered late and he took it in stride and we knew his would arrive after we ate but No surprise that the sablefish was worth the wait. Tiramisu and birthday cheesecake and lattes rounded out my perfect birthday meal!
As much as i love the room, i just don't think the quality of the food is worth the price. There are too many other restaurants that i go to with better quality food for even or less money. Although I do love the Prime Rib, but unfortunately that isn't always available.
Everything was fairly good especially the service. However, the restaurant has a low ceiling and was extremely noisy.
Reminds me of home. So good. Meatballs were perfect!
We had an amazing time! The service was great, complimentary dessert and champagne for the birthday girl! Friendly servers, delicious food and good value! W
The service was good. We ordered the dinner for 2...the Oyster Rockefeller and calamari to start. Both simply plated and small but tasty. The spaghetti bolognese was very meaty and had either a slight creaminess or cheesiness- not very tomato-y or acidic (yummy). The sablefish was buttery and perfectly cooked. The cheesy cauliflower side dish was just ok - the taste didn’t stand out in and sort of way any we didn’t even eat half but probably because we were so full and needed to save room for dessert. The tiramisu is huge and comes in parfait glass. Lots of custardy-pudding-like cream - maybe too much cream but still pretty good. We enjoyed our meal overall.
Would have given my experience a 5/5 but some of the smaller details were a bit off -- the bread and whipped butter that we usually look forward to was swapped out for butter balls, and our meals didn't come out together. We had to wait about 5 minutes before our table of five all had our entres.
Still love coming to Pepino's -- been there about 6-7 times!
Great Vibe, We felt like we were sitting in the restaurant from the HBO series The Sopranos!
Everything was excellent about the evening with the exception that we could tell they wanted to flip our table to get another seating in. They didn’t come right out and say it like they did the last time we were there, but it was obvious in their mannerisms. Our server was nevertheless amazing, the service was great and the food was delicious. It’s a busy restaurant so if you’re wanting to find a place to have a nice dinner and relax and visit with a friend, for the evening, this is probably not the best choice
Food and service were amazing! We really enjoyed our dinner there celebrating our wedding anniversary!
If you like basic Italian fare with some interesting menu items then Pepinos is a place you should try. We found it a bit on the pricey side for spagetti with sauce or meatballs but very tastey just the same. The service was great and the restaurant has a neat ambience. Glad to have it in the 'hood and we will go back.
As my kids said to me, it wasn't good... IT WAS AMAZING.
Had a great time celebrating a birthday! Customer service was great!
A bustling room, solid Italian with friendly service. If anything it suffers from comparison to its sister restaurant Savio Volpe (with which there is no comparison in Vancouver, so slightly unfair). You won't be disappointed unless you were expecting Savio Volpe II.
Solid value, enjoyable, old school in a great way. Would go back and have already recommended it to a few people.
Always delicious and fun- with great service! A surprise for our friend’s Birthday - she is from an Italian family- a big hit!
Came here with hubby and a close friend for dinner on a Saturday night. We ordered quite a bit of food to share and overall, we all really enjoyed them, especially the spaghetti meatballs and tiramisu. Our waitress (Elise), however, was very cold, rude, and didn’t really attend to us.
I had asked for hot water and my husband sparkling water upon arrival, when she brought over the sparkling water, she’d forgotten about my hot water. She then came again to take our food orders and she asked if we wanted anything else to drink, I reminded her I’m still waiting for my hot water, to which she replied coldly, “it needs to be boiled so it will be a while.”
Then our pastas came, she never came to check up on us or offer extra pepper or parmesan cheese like she did with ALL the tables around us. Our water glasses were never topped off once they’ve be emptied, but she was constantly going around to add water for the other tables. Seeing the differentiated treatment did not make our dinning experience a pleasant one for sure.
Will have to reconsider about coming back to this place in the future; food is great, but service wise, not up to par.
Incredible food and atmosphere...just a little noisy. It's a small and cozy place, with a low ceiling. There happened to be a few larger very loud groups while we were there so that may have contributed to our experience.
Great food!! Great service! We ordered penne ala vodka and chicken picatta. It was both delicious!
Phenomenal food matched with first-class service. Our server, Ariel, was top notch, and so was every member of the crew at Pepino's. The kitchen treated us with dessert on the house on account of our anniversary. Thrilled with the experience, 11/10 would recommend.
Really enjoyed the whole experience. Tables were kind of cramped and it was very loud but the ambiance and staff were all great.
Table was spaced uncomfortablely close to the door and service areas. Felt poorly placed, reduced overall quality of the experience.
Need some new decor. Love the food and service. Too dark and dingy
Excellent Food. Fantastic tomato sauce. Tight and noisy ambience, difficult to talk and to listen to the servers.
Food and service were fantastic. However, the noise level was such that it took away from our experience.
Really great food and overall experience!
Thank you so much
So much fun! Place where you can create beautiful memories!
Great service and delicious food. Restaurant is super cozy and our server was awesome!
Our waitress was extremely aggressive and rude.
In general, staff seemed unhappy and unfriendly.
We booked it for a birthday, and that wasn’t even acknowledged.
Service and atmosphere were charming and the food was excellent.
everything was lovely! celebrated our 15th Anniversary. 💛
Paula provided excellent service with a sense of humour and made good suggestions.
The food was very good and the servings were large (we all took doggie bags home).
The cheesecake was scrumptious. The oysters & clams were local BC.
The atmosphere is intimate, but a bit too intimate, as the tables are very close together.
a little pricy for what you get and how they present the food
Outstanding food. Almost made us weep. Thanks for a great fifth anniversary dinner!
Pepino's delivers what it promises in both food and atmosphere. No complaints there--we knew what to expect and chose the restaurant for that reason. The food was very tasty, generous portions, moderately priced. The staff did seem overwhelmed at times--can hardly blame them. Do you need more people or people more capable of handling the high energy requirements? No question, superior servers are hard to find--and to keep. Keep up the good work. We'll try you again in a while.
Excellent food and very friendly service. Problem was overcrowding (tables WAY too close together) and very LOUD continuous noise due to so many people packed into small space. Literally eating elbow to elbow with people at next table. The pasta was super well done and very yummy, but eating experience hampered by noise - conversation difficult and hard time hearing waitress. Go for the food but not for an intimate dining experience. Bit pricy, but generous portions.
Fresh ingredients, lovely flavours. Great food and service. A little loud but if dining with a few people you’re able to enjoy. If only two you might find it a bit loud.
Enjoyed a late dinner here on Friday night. Had the avocado house salad and linguine with clams and the roasted chicken. Food was delicious. Wine was good. Tables are quite close together as the venue is smaller in size. At times it was difficult to have a conversation due to the loud noise level. Overall, it is a quaint restaurant with great food and very knowledgeable and friendly staff.
