Pepe's Cantina - Church Street
Great selection of food, very good service. Food was tasty. Nice outside patio if the weather is cooperating. Small walk to the Amway Centre.
Celebrated a birthday with 16 guests and had a great experience. Roberto was outstanding and made sure we had the best possible dining experience!!
We made reservations through OpenTable and upon arrival, it didn't seem to have mattered. We explained we made reservations and it was ignored. Unfortunately there was an Orlando City Soccer event in the street making our experience unenjoyable. This was no fault of Pepe's but did ruin the idea of coming Downtown and enjoying great Mexican. Because of the street event, we were placed in a common area of the Bumby Arcade to escape the noise. Again not conducive to a great dining experience. The waitress must have been new as she was unfamiliar with the menu, Mexican food & drinks. We love the Winter Park location and it's much quieter.
We decided to visit Pepe’s prior to our concert at the Dr. Phillips Performing Arts Center. We arrived and were quickly greeted and seated. Cocktails were delivered quickly, along with the table side guacamole. Our meal came out in a reasonable time, and tasted fresh. Our server Erika was on top of drinks and chips, and quickly returned with anything we requested. We had a mix up on the order, but it was rectified within minutes without question. Overall, our experience was excellent. The only issue we had was that there was a street party directly outside the door and it was very loud. Not the restaurants fault, but it made it harder to converse.
A group of friends visited this local establishment to celebrate National Margarita Day. A reservation was made in advance so when we arrived our table was already reserved. At first, the experience appeared to be going good until our drink orders were placed. It took more than 78 minutes for our first margarita to arrive. When we inquired as to the long wait the response provided was that the restaurant was making a new batch of margaritas. The restaurant did nothing to compensate for the long delay in our drink orders.
The food arrived well before the drinks. I’d recommend the Shrimp Tacos!
Not clean, not organized, two servers for entire location.
I've been to the Pepe's Cantina in Winter Park- this one was just as good! I dined with my sister in law, who is vegan. Pepe's has an entire page of their menu dedicated to vegetarian and vegan options. She got vegan tacos and was happy with her choice! I had the grilled shrimp quesadilla with a side of veggies. We each had a cocktail, which were well-mixed, yummy and strong but not too strong :)
My only complaint is the noise level. Other than that, it was a wonderful experience!
I was so impressed with Pepe’s Cabtina and will be back again soon! What started as needing a place to eat before the theatre turned into a memorable experience. The wait staff was so fast, quick to bring us waters, chips, and salsa the moment we sat down. They brought more chips and salsa quickly as well. Was impressed with their attention to us as well as their kindness. Food was excellent. We will be back again soon!
Slooooow and expensive.
Our table was ready when we arrived. Servers were friendly and attentive. We ordered tacos, a burrito, and enchilada plates. The portions are a good size and enough to share if you have a smaller appetite. Great location for dinner before a game at the Amway Center. Reservations recommended.
Fantastic service!!! Was greeted by the bartender and then our busser and server was excellent!
I’m Mexican and will say that this is as good as it gets in Orlando! FYI the watermelon margarita is amazing!
Decent food, good ambiance, very good service - attentive and good downtown location. Definitely return and recommend. Cheers!
Great environment. Loved how accommodating they were for my large group!
We had a large group and the staff could NOT have been nicer or more professional! We loved the foods and it was a fun evening.
Good food, good service and extremely convenient to the Arena for live events. Location on Church Street offers a myriad of options before or after a meal if needed.
The food was amazing and it was perfect location to the downtown bar scene which is what we looking for. Our server (Stephanie) was also very good it was almost like she was our friend and knew us for years based off the conversations we had.
Decent Mexican food downtown. The pineapple fajitas are great, just depends who’s in the kitchen.
Table side guac and drinks are all they really get right. Food ordered was incorrect, service was ok. Second time having this type of experience. So Highly recommend for Guac and drinks. Anything you do after that is a crap shoot
Always great service and the food is always fresh and delicious. Management here is very top notch
Laidback Mexican food.
I had a wonderful birthday dinner with my family at Pepe’s Cantina. We did have a misunderstanding with the appetizer that we were not too thrilled about, but overall the food was delicious and the atmosphere was fun. I would definitely come back again in the near future and try sitting outside since the view of the surrounding restaurants, lights, and buildings is nice.
We had a horrible experience. Our reservation was for the outdoor patio, they seated us in a back hallway with only one server. A mess of brooms and cleaning supplies were visible propped against the wall.
We ordered drinks and an appetizer as we sat down. After 30 minutes, no sign of our drinks or the waitress to take our order. She made eye contact a few times and said she’d be right back, but never did show up.
We ended up going to another restaurant. Four people, drinking and eating. They lost us.
I’ll never return or recommend to a friend.
Food was good. Margaritas and sangria not so much. Our waitress was excellent but hampered by too many tables assigned to her and next to no support. She ran her butt off on 10 tables. Despite her efforts several tables left after long waits for food and drinks.
Location wise it is very convenient to Amway Center - five minute walk. However, slowness of service will keep you on pins and needles. Not the best way to relax and enjoy the good food.
On the surface, Pepe’s Cantina seem like a cool spot to sit and have some Mexican food. We were seated in the back – way in the back – essentially outside the restaurant in the hallway. It was very crowded. Very loud. Could not hear the waiter at all. That loud. I appreciate fresh ingredients and prefer my Mexican food that way. Pepe’s Cantina clearly used fresh ingredients but their food needed more salt? It just had no flavor. As for the drinks, Mojito’s were on the list however when I ordered it the waiter told me he could not make it. They were too busy. My husband ordered a rum runner. The waiter did not know what that was and would not place his order. I guess if you’re looking to be in a trendy area this is it. But clearly, there is better Mexican food and better ambiance out there.
Food was awful - no flavor and at those prices!!!!!
Pepe’s Cantina was great for dinner before the Orlando Pride game. Portions are really large so come hungry.
Group of 7 went here before a concert. Took almost 90 minutes to get our food. We tried to leave before they brought the food & they said 'only 10 more minutes' so we waited and still it was another 30 so we were late for the show. When the food showed up, some of it was good, fish tacos were cold & uncooked, pork enchiladas had gotten cold / dried out (probably sitting for a bit). Said he would give us a discount but didn't (didn't have time to nitpick the bill & did not figure this out until later). Instead we got a round shelf tequila. Yuck. Oh, 2 non-drinkers so that was not appreciated. Plus, since I was not drinking I kept trying to order a club soda & they never did bring it out. Waiter was just rude & dismissive. Awful experience - will never go back.
Very good food, and the tableside guac is fantastic!
Great food with easy access to church street before an Orlando City game.
Our reservation was for 6:15. We did not get seated until after 6:30 even though we showed up 20 minutes early to be on the safe side. Once we were seated, we then waited 25 minutes for someone to ask about drinks and to order our food. Over half of our meals were incorrect and our waitress was nowhere to be seen. Upon finding another waiter, we were then told that they had run out of all wines. Who runs out wine?!
I arrived 3 mins late for my 7 pm reservations, and I was told That Because if that my table couldn’t be honored. My Veteran and disabled father in law was part of the group that attended and had a difficult time walking around the tables leading to the table in the patio.
I'll start by saying that we had reservations on a concert night. We were seated quickly and our drinks came out in a reasonable time. We ordered guacamole to start and it was very good. The dinners however, were marginal and as the place got busier, our level of service dwindled. I would think a restaurant that close to the Amway arena would be better prepared for a crowd. Nothing other than the guac would inspire me to return.
Our servers were not at all friendly. One of us ordered tacos with just beef and cheese and they came with the red cabbage and other items but they did not offer to correct the order. The guacamole was good but other than that the food was mediocre at best. So many better options for Mexican.
Great Mexican food, awesome margaritas, close to the Amway Center, fun area. Huge portions for the money. Glad I made reservations at the last minute because it was very busy.
Pepe’s takes reservations which helped us out immensely. Fajitas were delicious. Fresh margaritas were excellent as well as the sangria. Our waiter was extremely busy but managed to keep us happy.
We had fun! Food was great. Restaurant was louder than we’d hope for.
Great location super friendly service and awesome Table side fresh guacamole. How can u go wrong
Ate here before a concert and obviously they were extremely busy. 5 servers for the whole restaurant is not enough for a busy night. I got my appetizer before my bar drinks ever made it to the table. The margaritas were good. Queso was good but the amount given was barely enough for a whole basket of chips. We shared the carnitas tacos. Tacos were really good but the rice and beans were sub par. Then rice was crunchy and dried out from sitting under the heat lamp for so long. No food runners to help out the servers. I would’ve given better scores had they been equipped with more staff.
Pepe's is a great place for a meal in downtown Orlando. Thus was our second trip - they e got a great queso fundido as an appetizer, and their carnitas are tender and very tasty. Also had seafood enchiladas, which were also excellent. Service is great - attentive without being intrusive. Will definitely return again and again.
The food and drinks at Pepe's Cantina was priced well. Queso is free during happy hour and house margs are only $3.99. Good was delicious and our waitress was attentive and helpful.
