Pepe Giallo takes the old-world trattoria experience to heart, as evidenced by a menu that proudly prohibits skim milk, diet coke, and decaf coffee. The closely set tables are more cozy than claustrophobic, especially in the lovely back garden. As befits the restaurant's proximity to West Chelsea galleries, this Italian bistro offers value and a chill atmosphere for both the art collector and the starving artist.
The homemade pasta, pizza, and fresh seafood are taken seriously and made with care. As well as all of the homemade desserts. Service is warm and welcoming without being intrusive.

Lovely spot! Enjoy the outdoor seating and the seafood linguine!
Julio is a wonderful server, We started with The Bufala Mozzarella with Prosciutto. Outstanding. Spaghetti
Bolognese and A special past of the night Spicy Linguine with Calamari and Shrimp. Both meals were amazing. A couple Pinot Grigios and Negra Modelos made for a great dinner and reasonable as well. Thank you we'll be back.
First time customer. On occasion I visit NYC and this time wanted to try a new restaurant in the Chelsea section. I am glad I did. The service was excellent and the food a very good value. Fresh, tasty and well prepared!
Went here on the basis of a Trip Advisor recommendation and it didn’t mislead! A real gem. My wife and I had a carafe of happy hour wine and both ordered the linguini with 1/2 lobstetrics, calamari and mussels special! INCREDIBLE! We will be back!
Food was delish. Small portions tho.
Simple and wonderful dishes at reasonable prices - loved it!
We had a lovely lunch in their pleasant garden room. The garden is not open air but totally light filled and it does feel as if you are dining outside. Pepe Giallo is very convenient and a neighborhood restaurant for me, right on 10th avenue, and very close to the High Line in Chelsea. They serve lots of pasta dishes.
Decent family meal after a walk on the Highline.
Great spot close to the high line - food was pretty good, and service was great. Also fab value for money would definitely recommend.
great place for lunch or dinner. happy it's in our hood. definitely a must try.
Fun popular place with decent food. Not fussy; very relaxed
I would recommend this restaurant, because the food is good and so is the service. BUT.....The one major negative is that they asked us to leave because they needed the table. And mind you, we had made a reservation. They could have mentioned that prior to seating us and we would have understood it. They need to educate the staff11
Caesar salad, grilled salmon, roasted vegetables, incredible bread and the house red in the garden made for a delightful return visit.
For starters, my date was there on time and they sat him, which was nice, but they didn't give him water. After I arrived (10 minutes late), it took yet another 10 minutes before anyone addressed us or brought us water. That's a MAJOR pet peeve of mine, and I knew based on this that we were in for some fairly terrible service. (The restaurant was full, but it's not huge, and I mean, come on.... no water for 20 minutes?!) Luckily, my date and I were in a pleasant mood and having fun, so whatever. Food - the restaurant brought out a bread and olive oil, possibly after we ordered...? Again, annoying. We both ordered pasta, and both dishes were good - the fettucine with chicken and mushrooms was better than the rigatoni I had. The goat cheese from the dish I ordered (rigatoni with zucchini, tomato, etc.) ended up making the entire pasta quite grainy, but I still enjoyed it... it was heavy on the vegetables, which I love. Portions were also good. I'd go back again, but now that I know what to expect, it won't likely be a first choice.
Happy with the service, the food was just alright. We felt like it was lacking flavor. We ordered sangria, and it was served in the smallest wine glass ever. Decent taste. Overall i don’t think we would be itching to go back.
Best chicken parm I’ve had in NY. Loved the sautéed spinach too.
Pre July 4 celebration.
Always great food, service and atmosphere!!!
We had a great table near the front door and windows starting at 5:30 pm when the restaurant was on the quieter side which we like. The host treated us like old friends and kept an eye on all. The waiters were friendly and accommodating. The food is consistently excellent and of a fair price. He happy hour (till 6 pm) offers a few dollars off some appetizers and their excellent draft and fine house wine.
My out-of-town guests were really pleased.
I love this restaurant. Food so good. Service people so nice. Comfortable and cozy. And a fabulous neighborhood find. Bravo and Brava!
Food was amazing! Great value. Very reasonable prices!! I will definitely return!!
Love this place! Personable. Great quality food. Great service. Fun vibe.
reasonably priced delicious food in a cozy ambiance. a popular place to eat. nice, friendly and accommodating staff. i recommend this restaurant.
LOVE IT! Come here all the time and always great.
Great unfussy but delicious Italian food, casual neighborhood ambiance, and good wine - love the recommended rose.
We enjoyed out dinner there. All three ordered the short ribs with spinach wide noodles and the
fried calamari and zucchini.
Highly recommend this place
Great spot for lunch while walking the high line. Just around the corner from one of the elevator access points. Superb food. Cozy but not cramped. We would eat there again any time.
Small neighborhood place. Nice vibe and really good food. Try the gnocci or the sea food over black linguini.
For value, service & ambiance I would but the pasta was slightly disappointing bring it was homemade
A fun, reasonably priced Italian restaurant with great food and service.
Very pleasant and reasonable
We were visiting NYC and staying in Chelsea so we picked an Italian in the neighborhood. It was such a great pick! The service was excellent, and the food was so delicious! Reasonable prices as well. We were happy with everything.
Food was underwhelming and service lagged by the end.
Nice little place with excellent food. Would go back in a heartbeat!!
Pretty disappointed with my experience at Pepe Giallo. We came to dinner for 4 people with a reservation around 7:30 pm on a weeknight where we sat down right away, however we were completely ignored by staff, and needed to wait 15 minutes just to see the menu. We had to flag down the wait staff to be able to place an order after no one came around to us, and even then we had to wait. We then had to continue to flag down the staff for water refills. The penne vodka I ordered was undercooked below al dente. However, after we finished the staff was quick to take away our plates. I will not be returning.
We sat in the back room which is much quieter than the front ..... food great - staff great - food great
Nice neighborhood find - comfortable ambience, friendly efficient service. Black Sea bass special was perfectly prepared.
This is one of our favorite places for neighborhood Italian food. We really enjoy the laid-back attitude with great eating.
So glad they are at their new location! Food is great; nice new setting and friendly service. Can’t wait for garden to be open
