Pepe Giallo takes the old-world trattoria experience to heart, as evidenced by a menu that proudly prohibits skim milk, diet coke, and decaf coffee. The closely set tables are more cozy than claustrophobic, especially in the lovely back garden. As befits the restaurant's proximity to West Chelsea galleries, this Italian bistro offers value and a chill atmosphere for both the art collector and the starving artist.
The homemade pasta, pizza, and fresh seafood are taken seriously and made with care. As well as all of the homemade desserts. Service is warm and welcoming without being intrusive.

Delightful atmosphere in the Garden Room. Wonderful food and excellent service. Moderate prices make Pepe Giallo one of my favorites places to dine. Great spot to go with friends.
Delicious food and great service, as always. Love being back in the garden/atrium room too.
Attentive yet unobtrusive service, perfect food, charming and low key atmosphere, unbeatable prices...
great food great scene. love the food and service. wonderful neighborhood place.
Hits the spot. Great neighborhood spot and great ambiance.
Delicious food at very reasonable prices. Nice atmosphere, with a comfortable sound level allowing you to converse with your dining companions. Worth going out of your way for this wonderful find.
We selected this place based on the many great reviews, but it didn't match the expectation.
The waiter was nice, but he repeatedly came to our table and interrupted our conversation without pausing or saying "excuse me". That would have been fine, until we were half way through our appetizer and our entrees came. The server didn't ask if we were finished or ready. There was no room on the table, and by the time we were finished with our first course, our dishes were cold because they had to sit. The meal was mediocre - vegetables seemed like they had been reheated (by the texture, not the temperature), and the salmon was dry.
The food was Teri le (pizza was raw and had little flavor, the fish was over cooked and the sauce seemed like it was taken from a can.). In addition we were seated outside and got cold, but even with empty tables, they refused to let us sit inside. Overall, terrible experience.
We loved our food and the wonderful server..(Tucker). BUT the wine was a really small glass...not even 6 oz.
Mediocre food, good service.
Back patio area was fantastic
A nice place for a casual lunch. Not as good as at the previous location.
Came here for an early dinner, 4:30 pm, before a show. Decor is lovely. The restaurant was almost empty, so it was quiet, my pasta with mushrooms, peas, and broccoli, oil and garlic was great. My friend and I had a small pizza which we enjoyed too. The servers were very pleasant and professioanl. I wouldn't hesitate to go back.
Come here quite often and always have an excellent meal. But this time my dish penne pasta with meatballs was just ok. Sauce seemed like it was burnt or over cooked. The wait staff practically threw the plates on the table and ran off. We had to ask for water for the table and were never given bread. Will be back to see if it happens again. The place was busy but the food and service should never suffer. We tried the pizza for the first time was just ok.
Amazing food, quick service. Tourists from the UK who found this via trip advisor, absolutely no regrets. 🤤🤤🤤🤤
Our neighborhood 'go to' place. Had friends from England and wanted them to enjoy a tasty casual dinner. Pepe Giallo fit the bill exactly. Always reliable and fun with cheerful courteous service. Highly recommended.
Great meal in a wonderful neighborhood restaurant. Service was perfect, the food was outstanding.
This is not fine dining. Felt more like a village coffee shop than an Italian restaurant. Ford was ok but portions were small and overpriced.
First time to Pepe Giallo. Service was excellent. Beautiful arugala and pear salad, $25 seafood risotto was a good value with lobster, baby calamari and mussels. Flourless chocolate cake with ice cream was beyond delicious! Only suggestion is that they add decaf coffee, American or expresso to the after-dinner offerings. I would have enjoyed an espresso or cappuccino with my dessert but no caffeine for me at that hour.
Good lunch offerings, quiet ambience good for conducting a meeting.
Really good Italian food at very reasonable prices. There's outdoor dining in the summer, too.
I took my 28-year-old daughter there for a quiet reunion (I live in New England and had not seen her for some months). I had been there before on the recommendation of friends, so I knew the food was delicious. But this time I really appreciated the fact that, as I have a moderate hearing disability, I had requested a quiet table, if possible, and they gave us a perfect little table in the corner. My daughter and I could have the kind of relaxed, easy, intimate conversation I had hoped for. And we had really good food and drink to accompany it. The wait staff were friendly and attentive, but gave us our space. It was one of the nicest evenings I can remember having in a long time. I will always return — and recommend it to others. Thanks, Pepe Giallo!
It would be nice to have more seafood on the menu. Warm bread would be a nice touch. Also, most Italian restaurants offer garlic bread. Had the mussels which were good, but having a plate for the shells would be practical. Really liked the place. Nice atmosphere, low key, not too noisy, good service. A great neighborhood restaurant. Will continue to go for dinner and lunch.
Nice little restaurant on W. 22nd St. and 10th Avenue, NYC. The pesto ravioli was very good. They put a little basket of bread with oil on the table. The ice cream of chocolate and coconut that I ordered was large and very good. Not much seating, so get there early or make reservations. Can eat outside on the sidewalk in Chelsea and watch traffic go by. Would go again since the place is cute.
Lovely spot! Enjoy the outdoor seating and the seafood linguine!
Julio is a wonderful server, We started with The Bufala Mozzarella with Prosciutto. Outstanding. Spaghetti
Bolognese and A special past of the night Spicy Linguine with Calamari and Shrimp. Both meals were amazing. A couple Pinot Grigios and Negra Modelos made for a great dinner and reasonable as well. Thank you we'll be back.
First time customer. On occasion I visit NYC and this time wanted to try a new restaurant in the Chelsea section. I am glad I did. The service was excellent and the food a very good value. Fresh, tasty and well prepared!
Went here on the basis of a Trip Advisor recommendation and it didn’t mislead! A real gem. My wife and I had a carafe of happy hour wine and both ordered the linguini with 1/2 lobstetrics, calamari and mussels special! INCREDIBLE! We will be back!
Food was delish. Small portions tho.
Simple and wonderful dishes at reasonable prices - loved it!
We had a lovely lunch in their pleasant garden room. The garden is not open air but totally light filled and it does feel as if you are dining outside. Pepe Giallo is very convenient and a neighborhood restaurant for me, right on 10th avenue, and very close to the High Line in Chelsea. They serve lots of pasta dishes.
Decent family meal after a walk on the Highline.
Great spot close to the high line - food was pretty good, and service was great. Also fab value for money would definitely recommend.
great place for lunch or dinner. happy it's in our hood. definitely a must try.
Fun popular place with decent food. Not fussy; very relaxed
I would recommend this restaurant, because the food is good and so is the service. BUT.....The one major negative is that they asked us to leave because they needed the table. And mind you, we had made a reservation. They could have mentioned that prior to seating us and we would have understood it. They need to educate the staff11
Caesar salad, grilled salmon, roasted vegetables, incredible bread and the house red in the garden made for a delightful return visit.
For starters, my date was there on time and they sat him, which was nice, but they didn't give him water. After I arrived (10 minutes late), it took yet another 10 minutes before anyone addressed us or brought us water. That's a MAJOR pet peeve of mine, and I knew based on this that we were in for some fairly terrible service. (The restaurant was full, but it's not huge, and I mean, come on.... no water for 20 minutes?!) Luckily, my date and I were in a pleasant mood and having fun, so whatever. Food - the restaurant brought out a bread and olive oil, possibly after we ordered...? Again, annoying. We both ordered pasta, and both dishes were good - the fettucine with chicken and mushrooms was better than the rigatoni I had. The goat cheese from the dish I ordered (rigatoni with zucchini, tomato, etc.) ended up making the entire pasta quite grainy, but I still enjoyed it... it was heavy on the vegetables, which I love. Portions were also good. I'd go back again, but now that I know what to expect, it won't likely be a first choice.
