Peohe's - Coronado Waterfront Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
It appeared that the wait staff was stretched too thin and while our evening started out with a special acknowledgement of my birthday, it fell flat after that. Drinks were long in coming, rolls were stale (admitted by the server), we waited almost a half hour after our appetizers for our main course, no one ever came back to ask if our meals were satisfactory, and refills of drinks were never offered. We appreciated the birthday dessert, but by that time the thrill was gone. We assume this is not their standard Friday night experience.
Took 30+ minuets to get drinks everybody here is really slow!!!!! Had a reservation on VALENTINES day there was maybe 50 people in the whole restaurant we were seated immediately then took 15-20 minutes for the waiter to come i ordered a carona my wife ordered a water to start literally took 30 minutes we got up and left! Totally unacceptable!
Wait time was just a few minutes til our table was ready. Waiter was very attentive and helpful with our menu choices. Our choices were delicious. Started with some coconut encrusted shrimp, and then some Lobster bisque. I ordered a drink called a 'Rusty Nail' but when it came it wasn't someone forgot to put the Drambuie in it, but the waiter (Tom) made it right. Then I had the sea bass with a wonderful sauce. My husband had the swordfish and it too was delicious but needed extra lemon or maybe a sauce could have made it less dry. The whole evening was very special and we will return soon. Carolyn Shaw
Service was fabulous. We love taking out of town friends on the ferry from San Diego and going for lunch here. food is pretty good. I had the lobster roll, frozen lobster not much taste. Husband had Cobb salad it looks really good. The view and service is hard to beat. Definitely will go back.
Went for BDay celebration. Waited 15-20 minutes to be seated in a half empty restaurant. Nice table with view. Got a B Day card from hostess. Ordered some sushi salmon and yellowtail. Salmon was warm and tasted days old. Orders a filet steak and prime rib. Waited almost an hour for food with no visit from the waitress. Food arrived and filet was cooked medium as requested. The prime rib was well over done and I asked if this was medium and she stated yes. Looked like the prime rib was sitting under heat lamps as the meat was well done. I request a medium piece of prime rib and had her take it back. Later she came back saying that the piece of prime rib I received was the rarest they had. If this was known why wouldn’t they ask me to chose another meal instead trying to serve me a well done piece. This was at 7 pm. We had ordered some fresh vegetables and what we received was a plate of Vegetables that looked like it was thrown on the plate. I told the waitress that it was too late to order another meal as this should of been request earlier. She stated that she would talk to her manger about removing the prime rib meal from my check. When she returned she stated that the meal had been removed and gave me the check. Not a mention of my friends Birthday dessert which we were not even asked about. We just paid the check and left. For a higher end restaurant we were highly disappointed in the service, food and customer service. Would not recommend this restaurant to others.
Decided to come to Peophes to celebrate my mothers 89th Birthday - we were all so pleased with the extra special care they gave my mom - the menue had her name on it , birthday card presented to her - special dessert at end of meal and the food for all of us was perfection !!
We had such a wonderful day - have already recommended to friends and to trip advisor -
Rachel was our waitress and was fantastic.
The view is just about the best there is in San Diego
Our host was ridiculous! Very brusk, unwelcoming, harried, and not dressed appropriately for a first tier restaurant. He either needs to shape up and act the part or be replaced...
Two of our four entres were served cold and had to be returned to rewarm. This was a major disappointment, though food was excellent otherwise.
Rachel did a heroic job, considering she had little to no help from the busboys.
Overall this would be a five star experience if it weren’t for the glitches itemized above.
As Peohes is a Chart House restaurant, I believe the parent company should be aware that this restaurant with amazing potential is not living up to expectations due, I believe, to lax management.
I began dining at this property in the early ‘90s and understand what a treasure it is when managed well. I’ll try it again, but only once more unless I experience its full potential.
My husband and I enjoyed the special menu for Valentines Day. I had the Nicoise and he had the shrimp. The food and presentation could not have been better. Service was rather slow throughout even though the restaurant was mostly empty at the beginning of our meal. Our server was pleasant and knowledgeable, just slow with every course.
We love Peohe’s and the view was spectacular, as always!
First time here, was recommended by friends. Was a little disappointed that we made a reservation & had to still wait to be seated about 20 mins. A couple of ladies who came in did not make a reservation but the hostess told them she recommends they make one for the future, but still sat them ahead of us. (I assume they are regulars). The view on the patio was absolutely amazing. Food and drinks were great. Not sure what the sauce was on the calamari, but I could eat it on everything. Our server seemed to be irritated about something the entire time, and didn’t have a genuine politeness. This is why I did not give full stars.
It was terrible. The restaurant was 1:2 empty/we got there early .they told us we had to wait to closer to our res time. 30 min. Over priced poorly made cocktails. Then we did not get a booth/ banquette we had requested . Service after seated was slow and plodding . Nobody there . Food was marginal. It needs to close and start over
We had a late dinner and the restaurant was pretty empty so we managed to be seated by the window and the view was gorgeous! The server (Darren) was very attentive and accommodating. The pupu platter (appetizer) is quite sizable and had meat in addition to seafood. The crab stuffed tilapia entree was also amazing -- flavorful, tender, and fresh! Overall great experience.
Food was very good. Waitress (Lea) was excellent. The time between appetizers/soup/salad and main course was excessive (probably 20 minutes). We had a big group (12) and likely another large group ordered right before us but there was no communication for the delay. Probably an anomaly, so I would recommend Peohe’s.
Awkward start to the evening when we asked to sit outside upon arriving 10 minutes before our reservation. Hostess looked confused, said we could sit outside for happy hour but then would have to be "transferred back". Had no idea what she meant, so asked if we could get dinner if we were sitting in the "happy hour" area. She said yes, and then we were on our own to make our way out to the patio. Server on the patio was awesome - she got our drink order in time for happy hour prices, but then she had to "transfer us back" to a dinner server....weird, but we said ok. Dinner server was VERY slow, had to ask for water, then had to ask for refills on water. She never asked if we wanted another drink, never checked on us after we got our dinner, in fact I think all she did was take our food order and bring the check. Sea bass was just ok - was expecting better for a seafood/fish place. We always eat at least one meal here when visiting Coronado, and have always had a pleasant experience. Hoping that this was just an off night for them....it was a very slow Monday evening.
Mahi mahi was really tasty with the bananas. It was different than I would have had, but totally loved the flavors. Spring rolls were fabulous with the plum sauce.
Prime rib was moist though well done as asked for. Loved the No ko' ai- macadamia nut ice cream cake with oreo cookie crust for my birthday dessert too!
