Penthouse 808 at the Ravel Hotel Ratings and Reviews
Comparing to our last visit in the summer, the restaurants as much colder in the winter (especially the seats next to the window). The scene was still fabulous despite the roof and window covers. Otherwise, the service was wonderful. We used the lobster bake Groupon, and the food was wonderful.
Service was very friendly and food was good but my only concern was the slow service. It took about 30 mins for the waiter to take our order. The first course came in pretty quick, but the main course and dessert took forever.
I visited this place last year on 14th Feb as well, and that was a great experience with live music and all, but this time there was no live music, which didnt bother us, but the slow service was killer. It took 2 hours from the time we got seated (10pm)to the time I got ready to leave (12am). There were many empty tables so a busy night could not be brought up as an excuse.
Do not got there when it's raining, unless you do not care about the view : the access to the windows is closed, because the roof leaks... at least that's what happened last time we went (February 2018), so we were very disappointed. Nobody sent an email to tell us. The food is great, though.
Amazing food. Best tasting dishes and drinks I've had. No not exaggerating... The chef here really out did him/her self, each dish was a surprise for both me and my date. The alcoholic drinks were great as well, went down VERY smooth (def recommend the martini and sangrias).
I've been eating at penthouse 808 for several years know. Eveytime I go the manager Benny welcomes me and my friends/family with open arms. You can see the effect that has on the rest of the staff that works there. Never been let down. Will continue to go there for great food and great vibe.
We loved the ambiance, the vibe and the energy. The food is Asian-Fusian and was wonderful and delicious. The presentation was terrific. The drinks were excellent and creative but small. The staff was knowledgeable and attentive. The view is spectacular- right under the 59th St. Bridge and facing NYC. A great find!
The ambiance was nice, the place is beautiful but the service was a bit slow luckily the gentle man that I believe to have been the manager stepped in and was a GREAT. The place is pretty pricey, which isn’t a problem but for the prices I expected the food to be AMAZING. My boyfriend had the ravel ramen which he wasn’t too fond of and I had the coconut curry shrimp, the presentation of the food was great, pretty in pictures but the food it self was mediocre to the least I’d give it maybe a 6/10.
I booked this place for my boyfriends birthday there was 6 of us. The food was amazing and the club/lounge scene after dinner was great. Expensive but worth it for a special night out. No complaints. One of our friends cards was charged twice and the bottle service girl came right over and addressed the situation. Great music, mix between spanish music and todays hip hop music.
Now I understand why they walk around with bottles of water making sure that every table has 1. They charge you $1 per person for filtered tap water and try to make it look fancy by walking them around in champagne buckets. They are pretty aggressive with this water thing!!! Super annoying.
Very grateful for server Valentine for serving us so well and friendly with great recommendations and friendly real service
Manager was on deck and so grateful to meet him - very personable and creative
Great experience and dining and the view of course was stunning
Thank you will be back !
I initially made a reservation for myself and my best friend but she actually changed the reservation without my knowledge so my entire group of friends could surprise me with a dinner! The food was good, drinks were good, View was amazing, restaurant was a bit cold but the host was very accommodating.. We had a great time and they didn’t butcher my surprise cake when cutting it lol
Fantastic dinner with a beautiful view of NYC. This is a special place overlooking the east river with the skyline of the east side of Manhattan. Service was friendly and helpful. It is essentially a rooftop dining, and in the winter can be a little chilly, but the staff is accommodating and even gave my mom a blanket to keep her warm.
1. We had reservations and we had to wait by the bar for a long time before our host ushered us to our table.
2. A manager or a supervisor told one of us who had a hat (cap) on to take if off. Is the restaurant serious? This person (who happen to be the celebrant) was sick and had his hair falling off and be told to take his cap off because it is not allowed in the dining area to me was ridiculous and discriminatory. We will never go there.
We were spending a weekend stay-cation at the Ravel hotel and made reservations got their restaurant bc I figured it would be easy and fun to not leave the hotel/ cab around the city. I had experienced dining at Penthouse808 previously but did not recall disliking the food (possibly bc I previously ordered sushi exclusively?)! Positives first- the view of the lights on the Queensborough Bridge is beautiful! The ambiance is romantic, sexy, exclusive, and NYC! The servers are attentive, bringing complimentary small starters, green tea, and post dinner sweets, continually asking how the meal Is going. When we first arrived, we came through the guest entrance and someone walked us back to the host stand. Even the manager stopped by our table to say hello.
Makes for a great date night or special occasion, but you might want to eat something you really enjoy first because the food was boring. I skipped lunch bc I really wanted to be ready- but when the starters came out (positive- came out FAST) Chicken wings (waiter gave spicy disclaimer- they were not spicy or crispy) and spring rolls (tiny and greasy) in hind-sight we should have left then! The mains (positive- came out QUICKLY) were just as disappointing- pineapple fried rice was not fried tasting, wok seared skirt steak was wimpy and limp like it was microwaved, and salmon barely seasoned. Nothing came out "wrong", but nothing was the way we expected it or cooked to our liking, especially because we love Asian food (Sea, Qi, Spice Market, Peep, Benihana, Tao, Buddakhan), but this food doesn't compare to what we are used to. We are not into sending food back at restaurants, we just do not finish our food, leave quietly, tipped the waiter 20% and we're out of there in less that 50 mins! I saw a group of ladies sitting down at a larger table and I almost wanted to warn them, but my Hunnie held me back! Lol
My husband was sad bc this was the birthday meal for me and we didn't enjoy it the way we expected.
Really beautiful views. Our host Luis was very nice and always came back to see if we needed anything .Although the food took awhile, luis came out twice to 3 times with complementary side dishes that made up for the wait. They need to add salad to their meals because two of my artists had lobsters and their was no sides that came with the meal, that should be automatic !!! Dj &!Music Amazing Great staff that work their amazing and very friendly. Bartender great we paid for first drink but second drink was on the bartender really nice and lm going back every week. I️ have friends and family that’s in the music business and my sister had just released some music and I️ was scoring out great places to chill from our hectic life and Penthouse 808 is our new place . I️ did have a Groupon that didn’t work after the meal but it was totally Groupons mistake. Penthouse 808 needs to have a talk with Groupon since they have their name attached to their company! That can hurt customers relying on that coupon. That’s a definite ! All our plans was changed because of the really cold weather so they closed at 1am and we was expected to party until 4 but we had to find another party after, wish we could of just stayed thier since i live a block away . reservationists should have called to tell us their was going to be changes next time that’s very important in my world but overall great place. Thanks I’m a valued and happy Customer. I’m going to be rating this place every time because it’s my job to make my music artists very happy .PEACE 1 Love. 💗
I booked the place to celebrate my wife's first birthday after giving birth to our baby boy under recommendation from a friend. The rooftop view is as good as advertised but the food left much to be desired. They do have a good selection of sushi roll and sashimi, however, the main entrees are as poor as it gets in term of taste and value. It is a place that you go to enjoy the view more than the food.
