I came to Penthouse this past Saturday for my bridal / birthday dinner. I was very pleased with the entire experience. The service was great, food was great, view, ambiance was wonderful. This was my first time and I will definitely be returning in the summer when they open the back area. The only complaint I have is that we were charged a cake cutting fee. My bridesmaids surprised me with a cake for my birthday that they brought in from outside of penthouse & weren’t aware of the cake cutting fee, which was $50. My party just wanted to be aware of the fee. I also think it was a bit much to charge $50 just to cut the cake up. Had we known there was going to be a charge we could’ve just cut it up ourselves. One of my friends approached one of the waiters about it & he spoke to management and had it removed without a problem. Overall, I was very happy and pleased with my visit.
Everyone was so kind and the food was amazing everything came out on time I def recommend this restaurant
The food and the service was one for the books! They were on point with food! Not a very big menu but every thing we tried was nothing short of AMAZING! The service was hands down one of the best I’ve seen in NYC! Waitress was very prompt, other staff as well! Very knowledgeable about their restaurant! I definitely plan on going again.
Food was very good will recommend place was nice service was fast ambiance very romantic
I haven't been to Penthouse 808 in about 1 year. A lot has changed. I was quite impressed. The service, food & recommendations were on point. However, the music could be a little lower.
Stunning views , delicious food and a lounge space to die for with amazing DJ’s !!
Oh and the lychee martinis — AH-MAZING !!!
The food and service was awesome. But I recommend the place to be redesigned somewhat. The furniture was cheap.
This wasn’t the experience or the taste of food coming from this place my first two time was amazing but now i wouldn’t recommend it at all!
It was amazing
We had a party of twelve. We had a wonderful time. We decided to do the family style menu. They brought out at least five different entrees for the whole group to share. The overall service was outstanding. We were celebrating my husband's birthday. We also stood for the lounge part of the evening until 3:30am. We ordered bottle service and it was amazing!
Beautiful views of the city. Can't wait to go back in the summer with the tent off. Only drawback is the tables are very close when you're on a date.
Buena atención buena atmósfera y buena música y Ni hablar de la comida deliciosa lo recomiendo cien por ciento
I had a pass experience at the front desk, the girl was rude when greeting the guest .
We Have been to Penthouse 808 many times and have always loved it....However this past experience was horrific!! We took 3 other couples ( which was their 1st time) and were embarrassed The entire Evening....The Music was so loud during dinner that we could not hear each other talk it was like being in a club. It took us 40 minutes after we were seated to get cocktails when the food finally arrived 2 1/2 hrs later it was cold and tasteless. Desserts were terrible and the service was deplorable. We sat at 7:15 and at 10:15 we were still waiting for dessert and coffee. Finally got our check at 11:00 pm. Not sure where the disconnect was this time but we will not be returning anytime soon. The Gorgeous Views couldn't even save the Evening!! Very Disapoointed!!
Ok so I don't even know where to being with this. Penthouse 808 used to be good. That doesn't really much as the standard it was compared to were other overpriced rooftops all throughout the city. This was my 3rd time visiting this space, and I don't know if they have new management but the service has gotten considerably worse. Firstly, they only have dinner there like once a month, if that because most times it is closed for private events. Since I had not been there in a while because of this reason, I figured if they have an opening I would go back there before reservations close up again.
The problems started even before we arrived. There was unusual traffic going from Manhattan to this place, so I called to see if I could move it to 9pm. We were told that the closest other time they had was 9:45 and even then we could wait by the bar and see if a seat became available. We reluctantly said alright, and once we arrived things got much worse. We noticed that the place was not packed at all. There were people there but an entire section of the space was without any patrons and yet they gave us such a headache about the time. Once we were seated, someone came and brought us water and that was it. The person disappeared and no one bothered to come to our table until at least 20 minutes later. We sat there intentionally just to see how long it would take them because we had never experienced something so ridiculous before. To make matters worse, some of the waters were standing by the entrance not tending to anyone, and others were busy removing napkins and kitchenware from the site of the restaurant that I said was empty when we arrived. That annoyed us even more.
A waitress noted our annoyance and finally asked if we had been serviced, we told her no and explained how long it had been. She just said, "I don't know who your waiter is but I'll take care of you give me one minute." It got worse after that but I don't even have enough space here to write it all!
Went for Valentine's day, I understand it's a busy time and all but we had a reservation for 10 didn't get seated till 11. Finally got seated and waited practically another hour to get appetizer and entree before we decided to just leave.
What a disappointing and frustrating it can be when you book a spot for Valentine’s Day dinner with your significant other and you had to wait 30-40 mins in the lobby to get seated. After we got to seat, we waited 10-15 mins to get some water. It was a 4-course Valentine’s Day dinner. First meal came after 25 mins. They skipped the 2nd meal and went straight to 3rd meal and did not provide lemon with my dish. They served the salad after the Entrée. It took 3 hours to get a 4-course meal. I ordered drinks that never came until the end of our 3rd meal. Everything was disappointing. Too many people. Less servers. Overall it was 1.5/10.
I would put the full blame on the management that they should not host too many people with under employees on any special occasions. They should have enough staffs and take just enough bookings so they can make everyone happy. Should not be taking too many bookings that they cannot handle the pressure.
We spent over 2 and a half hours and never even got served our food after getting there early for the reservation and being seated late. I will never go back and only recommend to everyone never to go here. I don’t have the time to write everything that is wrong with this place, it’s just simply the worst restaurant experience I have EVER had.
Waited two hours and change to be seated. 8:15 reservation turned into 10:30 just unacceptable. Not once I heard an apology.
The ambience was really nice and welcoming. However, I had to wait about an hour even though I had a reservation. The prefix menu for Valentine’s Day was not worth the value nor the food was good either. The portion is extremely small and even choosing to pay extra for the surf and turf for two. The entre didn’t have a side, just the meat. It was supposed to serve two and it only brought one lobster tail -how’s it possible for two? Again, is a nice place, but not worth paying Manhattan prices. Despite being busy, there were a lot of employees and half of them were just walking around instead of helping the guests. I asked for help from two of the employees and they replied to wait. So, I had to wait about ten minutes to get help. Don’t waste your money unless your coming to hangout and few drinks.
It was by far the worst dining experience I've ever had. I didn't know they were having a prefix menu until I sat at the table, on paper the menu looked good that's the only positive out of the evening. Out of 4 courses you could only choose the 3rd(entree). 1st course was literally a SINGLE SCALLOP per person. It was cold by the time it got to my table. 2nd course was a basic salad, what shocked me is it had nuts in it. Not once was that ever called out by the waiter considering how some people have severe nut allergies. 3rd course I ordered a medium rib eye steak. The streak was served beyond well done. Like no pink whatsoever. However my girlfriend ordered a medium well, and hers was certainly redder than mine. 4th was desert which they at least got that right. The service was horrible, I asked the waiter for a new napkin, and had to remind him later in the evening. What made matters worse was having to wait close to 40 minutes after you've finished each course. The saddest part is they had the audacity to charge over $200 for 2 people for such a terrible experience. I have no issues spending that money but at least for something worth the value. I much rather order what I want, than accept a poorly executed prefix menu. I will not be recommending or returning. 5 thumbs down.
Well over 2 hours for dinner. Everything came out so slow. Waiting for over 20 min at my table before we got a server. Then waiting ridiculous times for everything else. Took almost 30 minutes for us to get the check and we asked twice. Servers constantly for got about us and everyone else. You know things are bad when you start feeling bad for the table next to you because they are getting it just as bad or worse then you. Now that’s was the service the food was...ehh...blah. Honestly extremely over price for below average quality of food. I will honestly never come here again. And neither should anyone considering this place who is reading this review. Just don’t do it TRUST ME.
I was disappointed was looking forward for a good Valentine's with my lady but end up getting a bad experience coming to this place
We went here for Valentine’s Day and it was a complete waste of 2.5 hours. We were seated late even though there were about 8 empty tables! Our waitress Julianne was the absolute worst. The service was so slow, practically non existent. Took about 30 mins for us to get our drinks and my fiancé ordered a sangria that never even came. Had to ask her 2x for a drink menu finally asked someone else and they brought it over in 2 minutes. The food was embarrassing. ONE tiny scallop. A salad that had no taste- and filet mignon that was not cooked right and lacked in flavor. She never came over to check in, but paid extra attention to the tables that ordered champagne bottles. Had to ask her 3 times for our check which took 30 minutes for her to bring us someone else’s check. Then had to wait another 10 for us to get ours. This place was a complete disaster and they had the nerve to include gratuity!! For 2 of us.
Came here for my brothers 21st birthday. The scenery was beautiful but our server was amazing. He was helpful and polite even when we asked a million questions. Definitely returning
The ambiance was very nice but our waiter was not. I personally think the menu was very limited. Prices are ok
It was beautiful
Service was great
Food was good
And the wine that was recommended was beautiful
Was such a great experience until they turned on the lights in the room adjacent to the main area with the tables. (They were having an event there) The light was blinding and ruined the ambiance on the side where people were eating. It ruined my dates mood but besides that, it was a very cute place.
Booked a table for our anniversary, took a taxi to the restaurant (because it‘s too far to walk from Manhattan). Took the elevator to the restaurant and no one was there. A nice employee of the hotel told us then that the restaurant was closed on this Friday but no one sent us a message. We were really upset about paying for a taxi and then standing in front of nothing. Worst service ever of not informing us about the spontaneous closing on this day.
Was there for 55 minutes with no appetizers that we ordered, only water. The heat from vent blowing hard on the middle tables. Then it was cold, they couldn’t get the temperature right. We finally got a hold of our waiter and all he said was the kitchen is backed up and he doesn’t know what to tell us. We left and never received any food. He also redeemed our groupon and we never ate. Will not be going back!
Nice environment, the waiter took a long time to take the order and the ac was on. It was really cold in there.
everything I ordered the server returned back to the table to tell me that the kitchen said it was cooked in some that could affect my allergies. I included a note about my food allergies when I made my reservation three weeks ago. After the server returned back several times to tell me what I ordered wasn’t possible, I gave up.
Great venue, service okay but felt rushed
Drinks a little to expensive for the size. Otherwise not a bad place for dinner . Food portions are not that huge for the price . Inside was really cold But overall decent place nice views.
The service was not up to par. My friend has a allergy and the order was messed up several times of the same thing.
Delicious food! Great ambiance! Amazing view of Manhattan skyline!
Quite disappointed to find out that it’s in the 6th floor and nit readjust a rooftop. It killed the vibe. That’s what people are paying for.
Our sever is very good but the bar is kinda slow. We ordered a beer and it took 29 minutes to get it. How slow can it get?
The food is ok but the roll was very good.
Overall. It’s ok. Not what it used to few years back. It used to be awesome
Great place to have (very small) shareable plates and drinks...don’t expect to be full from the menu. Love the vibe and decor. It’s trendy and the views are amazing in the summer.
Penthouse 808 was a great place with an amazing view. Share my 1 year anniversary with them and had a great time. I ordered the passion fruit tea which was great. Food wise we had miso soup, edamame and the sushi platter which had multiple different arrangements of sushi. Overall great food and great staff.
Excellent place for going on a date. It's ambiance is amazing, great view of the bridge and city. Food is great service e great. You can't loose. Summer time is the best since the lounge is great. Only thing moshi g is a pool on the rooftop as well for pool parties lol
