   Thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Staff fantastic. Portion size as expected for a restaurant if this type…. Ok. Quality of food excellent. However, the one thing that is totally inexcusable in a restaurant of this class is the choice of one dessert or cheeseboard on the lunch menu. Come on Pensons, Top notch chefs and thinking that guests should accept just a rhubarb dessert or cheese board. All your experience wasted if you can’t come up with anything other than cheese as an alternative to the only dessert on offer.

   Outstanding second visit, this time for lunch however we have stayed in one of the guest rooms and had dinner previously. Exceptional food accompanied by a suitably well matched wine flight. Service is friendly and the beautiful environment isn’t too formal. We plan to keep Penson’s on our list of go-to special places.

   Fantastic from the moment we were welcomed through the door. Wonderful setting and interiors. Very attentive to detail. Questions about any food allergies before we visited and whilst taking our orders. Very thorough. We had the 3 course lunch menu with wine pairing. Excellent. Knowledge of wines impressive. We found each course to be so flavoursome and sublimely cooked with wonderful ingredients. A real treat. Each course explained to us. Service extremely good. We found everyone so friendly and warm. Will definitely be back.

   Snowy day but some of us got there and were rewarded with the most delicious food and welcoming staff from the receptionist to the semelier- we had lunch and between us had everything on the menu bar cheese. We couldn’t fault it. Exceptional.

   Stunning seasonal food on beautiful crockery with attentive and friendly staff. A relaxed barn setting but the room isn't too big and the kitchen is open to see the creative team. The kitchen garden is also worth a visit to see too.

    A lovely valentines lunch with friends. Lovely looking restaurant in a beautiful rural spot. Quiet and calm. Staff are superb. Food was delicious, the star of the show was the sea bream starter, was 10 out of 10.

    Beautiful restaurant, very good service and lovely food. Cheese tartelette, brill and Guinea fowl were outstanding, mushroom dish( no trace of mushrooms and very heavy ) and dessert ( personally I think rhubarb and walnuts don’t really go together) were ok. Tasting menu at £ 110 pp ( London prices) is quite high for what you get. Overall a lovely dinner in beautiful surroundings.

    Looking for that fine dining experience? Look no further. Everything about this restaurant is first class from the moment you walk in the door. The staff are very attentive. You can see everything that’s going on in the kitchen. The menu and the food is exceptional. Allergies are very well catered for. I would highly recommend Penson’s.

    The sommelier was excellent, the person attending to us was also very very good. We enjoyed the food and was made to feel very welcome. We would recommend the lunch al a carte which is the sitting we went to and would now try the evening sitting at a later date.

    A very nice lunch. Great food and excellent service. The wine was a little pricey at £65 for a bottle that would normally cost £20 BUT overall it was worth it for the ambience and the whole experience.

    Fabulous birthday treat for my daughter, wonderful lunch. Standards are consistently high each time we have been. Sign if the times I guess, but prices for bottle of wine eye watering now, which is a shame

    Sublime lunch. From the bread a cultured butter, Scallops cooked to perfection! The Guines fowl was absolutely delicious, could of eaten it again. Cheese and desert was also delish.

    Fantastic quality of food. Unfortunately left hungry not enough food. Also asked for a whiskey old fashioned. Was told they take 8 minutes to prepare and they are too busy… Really disappointed .

    Our second trip to Pensons, we were a bit anxious, maybe because the first time was so wonderful and we hoped it was not just a one-off moment in time, never to be repeated! Absolutely no need for that anxiety!! All the team and the food were amazing! Looking forward to our third trip now!! Well done, Pensons.
