Founded in 1467, Tenuta Carretta is located in the south of Piemonte, in Piobesi d'Alba, in Roero. It is a winery with a rich history, one of the most historic Italian wineries where past, present, and future are integrated in the best way.

    My husband and I dined here for our anniversary, and we had a wonderful time. We spoke to the head of house at the end of our meal and explained to her that we used to be fairly regular patrons, but had a poor experience two years ago. But this time? This was a true fine dining experience. We watched as all the staff helped each other, and everything was well timed and managed to the finest details. The head chef made sure every plate was perfect before it left his kitchen, and the head of house made sure no one was waiting for anything they might need to enjoy their meals. It was absolutely wonderful. It was clear that there had been a ton of heart and work put into this level of service. The first thing they said to us upon greeting was: “Happy Anniversary!” And they gave us a complimentary prosecco toast. The food was spectacular. The current menu (June 2025) is fresh, light, and beautiful. There was a basil sauce that was so delicious I could have had it as a beverage. The final thing I will say, is I am vegan with a food allergy, and they are able to accommodate me without subtracting from my meal or my experience. If you’ve not been here, or if you’re visiting from out of town, make your reservation here. It’s worth it.

    Pelino’s Pasta is a wonderful local Italian option. The food is exceptional - being very fresh and unique. We did the June menu, and highly recommend the seven course tasting. It provided lots of variety and we loved sampling a decent portion of the menu. The cost is very fair to the quality of food and wine you will receive.

    I had been wanting to try Pelino’s Pasta for a very long time, and it was worth the wait! We had a fabulous and unique bottle of wine and enjoyed tasting a dish from each course. I will be back to Pelino’s with excitement to try items from their ever-changing menu!

    The food is straight out of a trip to Italy. Creative use of seasonal veg makes the variety great. Wine and apertifs only here so no cocktails. Service is also good. Portions are small but I always leave feeling stuffed!
