Towards the end there was confusion about the tip.
Great brunch, as always. The service is always on the mark. I've never had a bad meal. It always arrives at our table quickly and hot.
Liked the food, great taste of South Africa. A small touch reminds us of close to home!
Foods that you can't get in stores, done right!
We went for a birthday celebration and we were treated exceptionally by all the staff. The food was delicious, the ambiance was great and the staff went above and beyond.
Food was delish and service was great which is rare these days! At the end of the day I was to patron places with the best service and peli peli did it right.
Awesome food, service, and overall experience! I've been waiting to go, and it was well worth the wait.
Superior service, great experience with great, out-of-the-ordinary food
Hadn't been here in 10 years. Decided to give them another try for our anniversary.
The food was tasty, though not huge portions. The problem we had was really with the service. Waited ten minutes for a waiter in an empty dining room; had to get up and find someone to fetch him. When he arrived, he was the sort of waiter who has set speeches, and every time we opened our mouths to ask a question, or just simply order, he cut us off with another speech. He noted--loudly--that we were drinking water. He announced it just as loudly every time he refilled us. Got my husband's order wrong. Tried to joke in an oddly off-key manner.
While the restaurant decided to give us dessert to compensate for the errors (which was nice of management), we were so put off that all we really wanted was the check, not another suggestion that a glass of wine would go well with that free dessert, as opposed to, yes, water.
Guess it'll be another ten years before we try again?
Love their Brunch!!!
Food was great. Everyone but our waitress provided great service. She missed a couple drink orders and an appetizer. Fine dining experience but a bit pricey.
This was our first visit to Peli Peli for several years. Service was slow. Dinner sides were not hot. We split the meal and the waiter brought out two tiny plates for each of us to use. An extra side was in a large bowl with no spoon to serve it with. Four small lamb chops were nicely prepared but the whole dinner was overpriced at $48. Free dessert in recognition of my birthday was excellent.
The food and ambiance was excellent. The waiter was very knowledgeable of knowing the food. Would definitely recommend anyone to go here and I will be returning.
This was our first time to be somewhat disappointed with Peli Peli. Food was fine as usual, but service was very off. Our waitress appeared to be flustered/rushed most of the evening and seemed standoffish throughout service. Had to ask for my drink four times before I got it. No apology at that time. Just "yes I'll get it" or similar. Finally at the end of the meal when we got the check did she say she appreciated our patience. I feel like they didn't expect a big crowd, which is surprising seeing that it was New Year's Eve. We felt rushed, unappreciated, and didn't get the experience we have come to expect from Peli Peli. Perhaps New Year's Eve isn't a good time to visit this restaurant.
New Year’s Eve. We had reservations that were not, IMHO, managed well since we waited ~30 minutes past our reservation time to be seated and we were ~15 minutes early. The did offer a free glass of champagne and the rest of the night was wonderful. Food, service, etc.
59th wedding anniversary.
We had a family celebration for my daughter’s birthday at the Vintage Park location. We enjoyed a great meal and beverages. This is one of our favorite places. The service was very good, from the receptionist to the waiter. We will be going back in the future.
Was thrilled to find out Peli Peli was open on Christmas. This is one of my favorite places and it was a great experience again. I had the Shrimp scampi and my son had the Chicken Curry and both were delicious. We both started with the carrot ginger soup and it is so good. At the Holidays the sticky toffee pudding is the go to desert and it was fresh and mouth watering good.
The service was prompt and courteous and we were well taken care of.
Love this place.
Food was the only good thing. Went here for Christmas Eve and were sadly disappointed. Restaurant was dirty, especially the bathrooms. Had to ask for paper towels as none were available. In addition, we had to flag down a waiter to start service. Once we ordered drinks, I was informed that each beer I selected was out of stock only after the waiter went to the bar to collect my drink. Finally by the third choice, they were able to confirm with the bar that they it in stock. Our section was as if it was a ghost land. Even the table next to us had to ask repeatedly for service. Meanwhile, waitstaff was seen busy cleaning their sections.
We dined for Christmas Eve dinner. Food was good and the manager came by at end to check on things but overall service was slow and inconsistent. Food arrived at all different times, some appetizers were with meal and meals late. It was a holiday so I understand but was a bit disappointed.
Food was delicious and we will be back!
Peli Peli is my favorite place to eat. Been going there since they opened in the Vintage and never have I been disappointed.
It was our 49th anniversary. When we told our server the day was special, he went all out to help us celebrate with complimentary champagne, a meal discount and even one free dessert because I couldn't decide. The steak was incredible; the lamb chops were generous and fairly standard. Trust me when I say the Sticky Toffee Pudding is the way to go! Looking forward to our return to this fabulous restaurant.
I recommended Peli Peli for a lunch outing with my work team, and a bunch of them had never tried it before. They all loved the food and the ambiance of the restaurant. Afterwards, they complimented me on the great choice. I've been going to Peli Peli for a long time. The food is always fantastic, and the service is great. Every time I bring a friend or family member, they're immediately hooked. The only thing I was disappointed in was the chicken livers side dish wasn't on the menu. I loved that side dish! But I guess it wasn't very popular. But I'd love it if they could bring it back seasonally or something.
Good food.....but service was just okay. Several people at our table of eight thought the sever was at time abrupt and rude. Server next to us explained dishes but when folks Fe in m our table asked a question the server for our table seemed almost put out.
Sierra the manger was amazing! Friendly, outgoing, and made it such a personal experience. Great food!
Slow service, food was boring, toffee pudding was good
Delightful! Our server, Juliet was amazing! We had a wonderful time!
It was a unique cuisine and fun experience. My brother came in from Cleveland and had never had South African food despite being a world traveler. We all enjoyed it.
I love Peli Peli but the new menu is a little short on South African flair for my taste. They say they are experimenting right now so hopefully they will come up with some new exciting South African dishes and keep this place the unique respite from the same old same old that you can find anywhere in Houston
Food and dessert was fabulous
Restaurant was clean and seating was well spaced out
Waitstaff was friendly and very attentive
Only con I have about the Vintage Park location is that it is extremely loud due to the high ceilings. Perhaps you can hangs something to help dampen the noise because its difficult to hear the waitstaff and people sitting across the table.
Brandon did an excellent job as our waiter. Giving us a sample of his favorite wine was a nice touch at the end of the meal. The tables are starting to show some wear and the men’s restroom needs more cosmetic attention.
Everything as it should be. It was worth getting familiar with South African cuisine.
Always enjoy eating at Peli Peli.. we love taking out of town friends their . Great food and wine!!!
Peli Peli was great! Our server, Chase, was very accommodating to our 1 year old and made our anniversary dinner a great experience.
I was thrilled to bring my family to Peli Peli to try as this was their first time. I was disappointed to know that this location did not have the seafood Espetada. I recently had this at the Galleria location and I came to the Vintage with the intent on my family experiencing the same delight. When you have a taste for something in particular, and it is not available, it ruins the whole night.
We enjoy the food and we have never been disappointed
Always a great night.
Normal menu ditched for ‘special’ Father’s Day menu...no good.
Food was amazing!!! Service was great and a overall perfect atmosphere! Great experience will definitely be back.
Great brunch on Saturday and Sunday. Service is always great. Outdoor seating is available for those comfortable days. This place gets busy for dinner, make a reservation. Valet parking is available.
